LSU TD

Another example of the Big ten screwing Nebraska. Everybody remembers the dual catch against Illinois where we landed on the ground and the Illinois player ripped the ball away. Last night when the LSU player dove for the goal line, crossed the goal line with the football but when he landed the ball bounced out of his hands. They ruled it a touchdown and the rules expert said it doesn't matter once the ball crosses the goal line and lands on the ground it's an automatic touchdown no matter what happens after that. Fk Big 10

I know we like to freak out on here...

...but dang the "we beat them by X and someone else beat them by Y" just doesn't work.

Minnesota beat USC, definitely unexpected. Now Minnesota is down to UCLA late in the 4th.

Is UCLA better than USC? But PSU needed overtime (and some help from the zebras) to beat USC, does that mean UCLA (or Minnesota) would beat PSU?

The reality is that besides maybe Oregon or tOSU in this conference, anyone can lose to anyone any day. We had a terrible game offensively (and special teams) on a super windy afternoon against Rutgers then they follow up and play terrible against Wiscy. Sure, that can make it look like an outsized difference between us and Wiscy.

Old Dominion beat Georgia State...who beat Vandy...who beat Bama...who beat Georgia. Old Dominion would DOMINATE Georgia!

It's week to week whether or not anyone can win.

It is amazing how irrelevant Big 12 and ACC games are

Now that it is the power 2.

I am sure I am missing a game or two. But when was the last must see game between an ACC or Big 12 team. Outside of CU, and that has more to do with off field factors. And Iowa State is undefeated and probably looking at a top 10 ranking, and no one takes them seriously. When the top level of those conferences play a top level BIG or SEC team it is treated like a mid level BIG or SEC team playing.

Money, NIL and the portal is just going to keep making this divide even bigger. And remember the people on here saying we should have stayed in the Big 12? Yes, me too. And how it would be easier to get in the playoffs. I am wrong a lot. But I was right on that. No way the BIG or SEC was going to let a 9-3 or certainly a 10-2 Nebraska, Michigan State, Ole Miss or Florida not make the playoffs for a 11-1 Iowa State that didn’t win their conference.

And I always feel I need to make this disclaimer. I would love to go back to the Big 8, SWC and a real PAC 10. But until someone flux capacitor to take us back it isn’t happening.

Just glad we have a seat at the BIG Boy table. Make fun of TO for not wanting beer in Memorial Stadium. Or being against gambling. Or meddling or what ever. Without him, not only do we not enjoy the 80’s and 90’s. We are sitting at the little kid’s table.

Second Half of the Season…

what do we want to see the Huskers do offensively and defensively going forward, to finish 5-1 in our final six games.
OFFENSE
1. Consistent run blocking.
2. RBs hit and read the holes better.
3. Use the TE down the field.
4. Incorporate more slant routes to the offense for our big receivers.
5. Keep taking care of the football.

DEFENSE
1. Jimari Butler, Javin Wright and T. Hill stay healthy.
2. Keep YAC yards at a minimum.
3. Keep improving defensive communication.
4. Nash and Ty have a second half that would make Suh blush.
5. Get off the field on third down.

I know 5-1 is a lot to ask, but it’s doable, and this team can do it. We are 5-1, and easily could be 6-0. Nothing is easy in the B10, and it’s going to be a meat grinder down the stretch. I can hear all the “let’s just get bowl eligible first” crowd getting loud. But I’m a Rhule-Aid drinker. Enjoy the ride Big Red Nation!!! GBR

B1G is crowded with good teams

but isn't as good at the top as I thought before the season.

Elite - Title Contenders - tOSU

Great- Playoff Contenders - Oregon, Penn St

Good - Major Bowl Games, Ranked or receiving votes - Indiana, Illinois, Washington, Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, USC, Rutgers

OK - Bowl Game - Maryland, Minnesota, Wisconsin

Bad - Losing season - Purdue, Northwestern, UCLA, Michigan State

A lot of competitive games among those in the good tier, some will lose and drop to the ok, but not sure if anyone will step up and be a legit playoff contender.

Bye weekend activities

Since no Husker football, what ya got cookin' this weekend?

I'm playing golf tomorrow early in Riverton and then a 60 year bday party for a life long friend at the club in the afternoon. Heading to Cody in the evening. Maybe golf early on Saturday in Cody, fishing and/or hunting (elk and black bear) in the afternoon. Sunday more hunting/fishing.

Edit: possibly grilling ribeyes Saturday night with bro and friends. Watching football (flipping between Ore/OSU, Ole Miss/LSU, Minny/UCLA and then KSU/CU)

Then prepare myself to watch grandkids on Monday!

Left Tackle, next year

It's a bye week so what the hell. Who's going to play LT next season? Sounds like Prochazka and Corcoran are planning on returning, at least right now. Gottula will have 8 games of starting experience. Prochazka only has 11 starts. I'm assuming that Ruggeroli and Brix won't be ready to start yet, but how about Knaak or Knutson or Seagren. Going to be a lot of competition all across the OL. Lots of possibilites.

OT- Starting experience with Gottula, Prochazka, Corcoran, maybe Knaak, Seagren or Knutson, or even Ruggeroli, Hood and Brix
C - Evans or Sledge
G - Lutovsky, Evans or Sledge, Maciejczak, Pyle or Taumua or even Peters or Davidson

Will there be enough development shown or will the portal be used? Just a wild stab in the dark:

LT - Gottula, Prochazka
LG - Lutovsky, Taumua
C - Evans, Sledge
RG - Pyle, Maciejczak
RT - Corcoran, Knaak or Seagren
