What kind of context do you want on 81 losses in 149 tries? You realize that’s bad right? Like really really bad. You want me to say “well he had two good years in there and then bolted after the good seasons? He preaches sustainability, please show me where he’s had a success that he sustained?
Temple, Baylor and Carolina Panthers. There's your context.

I agree, we don't know if he can sustain success. What we do know is that he can turn a college football program around and we know that typically takes him 3 seasons to do so, but we're wanting to fire him after year 2? Doesn't make any sense to me.

I'm not going to guarantee that he'll have success next year at Nebraska, but right now, history tells us he will. We'll find out next year, but hopefully this year we can get another 1-3 wins.

Satterfield contract ?

You're right, two seasons. First year the offense was terrible and the second year their coach had to shut down rumors that he'd removed playcalling duties from Satterfield.

Absolutely true. Like I said I watched almost every SC game. The "rumor" (truth) was that he had been stripped of his duties in those games that they had those two explosions back to back. Of course baby Beamer denied it (he was trying to be rid of Satterfield and what better way than to act as if Sat orchestrated those upsets) lol and here comes Ruhle to save the day for Beamer. My inside guys said USC AD was gonna fire Sat because he and Beamer were close and Beamer didn't wanna do it.

Then we come save his ass, give him a mil plus to stink it up in Lincoln like he did in Columbia SC. Make it make sense...

What Do I Do?

I am open to suggestions for any ideas of what to do on this site until the USC game. I check this board 5-6 times a day to see what is going on with Husker FB -- to have some fun. There is not a lot of fun to be had right now. Other Husker sports can't fill the void enough (although I love, VB, BB, and wrestling). So, let me know if anything I can do.

I have not given up hope and optimism for this season to qualify for a bowl game. My sphere of influence on which coaches to fire at/before the end of the season is nil, so it doesn't give me great joy to join in those conversations. (I have thoughts about that, but who really cares what I think as my opinions mean squat).
As I've said before, us Husker fans are stuck in a long time dysfunctional marriage to this program.

We've adorned her with the very best of everything money can buy. The program teases us with occassional favors pleasing to both the eyes and emotions. We think, finally, we've turned the corner into a normal relationship.

Then just as quickly, the program slides back into the dysfunctional entity that it is.

We all want to love the program, the program just won't love us back.

next year

This season is lost because the upperclassmen haven’t been able to do $hit.

If we’re going to lose anyways, put in the younger players instead and get them some in game experience. Put the under-performers on the bench!

I agree but that's gonna make some of the locals mad. Some of those underperforming guys are some fan favorites and for whatever reason our fans can't separate liking a player but knowing they are playing shitty and need to sit.

Depended on their activities. If they were doing all the right things (marketing, making the calls, networking, running appointments, putting in the extra time efficiently, etc), but the results just weren't showing yet, I knew it would be just a matter of time before results would start rolling in.

Sometimes it was out of their control (really tough market), but if I felt their day-to-day / week-to-week work was where it needed to be, then I knew their results would eventually come to fruition. And once things started to fall in place, man they were crushing it.
Firing football coaches vs. poor performing employees are two completely different things. 99% of employees don't have a 5-7 year buyout worth millions and millions of of dollars. You have a bad employee you might give them a little severance and tell em to hit the road. It's an apples vs. orange comparison/false equivalent.
