I wish all the coaches were good.Fire this guy, fire that kid, fire him!
We are less than two weeks removed from outplaying a top 3 team in their own stadium on national television with a hobbled true freshman QB at the helm -- a game we deserved to win where the cards were stacked against us from the outset.
This is big boy football. The players are all good. The coaches are all good. The refs suck, but what can you do?
Now Dana Holgoerson of all people is the savior? LOL
Every game left on the schedule is winnable. Raiola needs to throw the damn ball. THROW THE DAMN BALL. Forget your stats as they are already in the tank. Throw the ball to your receivers and give them a chance to make a play. #17 is a good guy to look for when in doubt.
You and me and the 50,000 people left in the stadium. We were freaking out as the clock wound and wound.but found myself screaming at the tv “snap the f’n ball!” at least a dozen times as we burned through the play clock on every play.
Yes, but the optics of Nebraska hiring a guy like the old guy from "James Madison" might be too embarrassing for an AD. Our fanbase causes a lot of our problems by being too supportive if the guy is the "right cultural fit", whatever that means and then shitting immediately on the guy if the hire "doesn't seem right". That stuff matters to people thinking of coming to NU and taking slightly less money to try to build us back up. Trev was too shortsighted to emotionally imagine Cignetti "fitting in" at NU and he got fixated on not taking too long to make the hire. Our American training tells us that rich and successful people must be exceptional, but that doesn't apply to college athletics. If they can fix Indiana Nebraska sure as hell can be fixed
He won’t let all three go. At best he promotes Thomas to OC and upgrades Mozee as WR coach. If you think they’ll be multiple external hires you’ll be sadly disappointed.NO! Doogie has to go too. And Foley. Three. No compromise.
I guess that would somewhat explain why we burned the clock in the 4th quarter like we had a two td lead instead of trailing by that amount. I rarely have gotten emotional during Husker games in recent years but found myself screaming at the tv “snap the f’n ball!” at least a dozen times as we burned through the play clock on every play. We of course even had to take our first timeout because of the glacial pace — and that timeout was needed later, obviously. The fact that Rhule had a play sheet the second half and it was so slow getting play calls in tells me that Satt has already been put on the clock. I think Rhule was very involved with the offensive play calling in that second half.
I don't see any of the above 3 happening. With the season already teetering on the brink of a total disaster, will Matt Rhule elect to:
Sit on the current hand, which is not looking good at this time. Or make changes to somehow get some momentum such as:
1. Take play calling duties away from Satterfield for the remainder of the season.
2. With Raiola likely seeing limited action, if any, will an offense be more run heavy with HH getting the call up from the bullpen?
3. Having a frank discussion with Tony White about dialing up the pressure on the opposing QB? This sitting back and letting other teams WRs have 10 yard cushions before the play even begins is a recipe for disaster.
Please feel free to add your thoughts on what you think will likely happen or should happen.
I'M ME AND I ENDORSE THIS MESSAGE!
Trev screwed us with paying bum Rhule 65 million in guaranteed just to get his petulant coach hire. Trev is a very emotional decision-maker. He is not thoughtful and he is stubborn. He emotionally fired Scott early, costing our struggling AD 7 million, he emotionally hired Mickey twice, knowing he had been involved in multiple domestic assault situations where one should disqualify you from having your first HC job as HC of NU. He latched onto Rhule as somebody who could help him save face. He fell for Rhule's con hard and gave a ridiculous contract to a coach with no other offers who was just the embarrassment of the NFL, and he did it before other coaches became available so he lost all leverage and bargaining power, so Rhule could barely eek out a top 25 class with his "developmental recruiting". It is such a scam, all of it. We are very lucky Trev is gone but he left NU in very bad shape.Trev kinda did us a favor. New AD has no loyalty or skin in the game with Rhule.
Wonder how successful a forced hire with a potential lame duck HC can be (DIACO, Whipple). But I suppose it can’t be worse
