Cutting the roster to 105

This is going to be a good thing for Nebraska football. Nebraska needs to be focused in every respect, and I don't believe there is any way to efficiently coach a roster of 150+ players. Guys who could be "developed" are getting lost in the shuffle. I guarantee multiple points this season Rhule has thought "damn, I forgot about that guy" or maybe even "who the hell is this guy?" Sure, we might lose a few guys who could have eventually contributed, but that will be more than offset by focusing on a smaller number and getting them the reps and coaching that is so critical. I'm glad the NCAA is making a decision that we're too dumb to make ourselves.

I tend to agree. Didn't love the use of NIL funds to put walk-on's on scholarship either, could open a substantial amount of money.

Fred loses me with the "not very much fun for the coach" stuff.

A lot of Power 5 basketball coaches seem to think it's a lot more fun to play Florida A&M, Lindenwood and Delaware State year after year, while collecting enormous salaries and bonuses. Good work if you can get it, I suppose, but fans actually like to see competitive basketball.
I think the context is in the stress involved in these types of games. Not that he's afraid of competing against tough teams, but the extra pressure involved with competing against a team that you are consistently measured against.

Go to Minneapolis instead

Be sure and check out the George Floyd memorial!!!

We had a cabin in MN booked for Sept....after we booked it I really started looking at shit to do up there...and since we don't fish I asked my wife WTF are we going to do for a week? There was literally nothing else to do where we would have been. We cancelled it and did get our money back.

If you play the myvegas app games (android is super easy to get loyalty points), you can easily get at least a night free at one of the MGM properties. Every so often they'll run 2 nights free just for using loyalty points and with android, some of the games you don't even need to 'play' to earn the points. Actually, redeemed a one-night free room (do have to pay the evil resort fee sadly) for next week with family visiting. If you play out of Clark County, you can get like $75 in slot freeplay pretty easily too with like a month of consistent 'app play'. Since I live in Vegas, I'm not eligible for that promotion.

Cutting the roster to 105

As far as I can tell, with the current roster + incoming recruits we are at 171 players. We have 16 players who will have exhausted their eligibility, so that means we will need around 50 players to enter the portal and/or be processed. And this is before adding any players from the portal, so we could be looking at 60+ players leaving the prgram.

Going to be a wild off-season

Well this sucks!

In the 70s we were 2 wins shy of 100 wins which woulda given us 3 decades in a row with 100 wins per decade, even with 2 wins shy is absolutely mind blowing

70s 98 wins 70-79

80s 103 wins 80-89

90s 108 wins 90-99

That's 309 wins in 3 decades and as I posted in this thread, Nebraska is the only team in CFB history ever to post back to back 100+ win decades.

What's even more mind blowing was, of those 309 wins 255 of those belonged to Osborne and was the fastest to reach those wins in only 25 years with only 49 losses and did this at only one school.

People wanna claim that Saban is the GOAT because of all of his Natty's, well here's something to think about. Back in 2021, top flight guru's calculated that for Saban to catch Osborne's winning percentage, he woulda had to have won 70 games in a row to catch it.

Because Osborne was the fastest to reach that milestone with 3 titles and 13 conference titles of his own and shoulda had more along with coaching the greatest team of all time 1995, The College Football HOF committee waved the required waiting time and inducted Osborne only 2 years after he retired in 99. Now tell me who the GOAT is!

Osborne was also the first coach in college football history to retire as a reigning national champion.

Football Coaches > Nice Guys

Below are some of his highlights from HS. Sometimes you wonder how a kids like this is a 5.5 3-star and MC was almost a 5-star. I remember saying the same thing when we got Tyjon Lindsay in the class after JD Spielman. How can Lindsay be a 5-star and Spielman only a 3-star?

Any way. Does anyone remember this from this Summer?

Let's hope he can help stretch the field the last two games.
he'd have been a 5* if he grew up in TX or FL or CA.
