Your boy Nate G

What happened to the accountability system. Red flags should have gone up all over during the semester if this is true. Do we hold kids out if they aren't getting their work done during the regular season? This team just keeps taking hits doesn't it?

If true, very disappointing to read, he was set to graduate in May. Nate is a member of the 2016 Osborne Citizenship Team & 2016 Berringer Citizenship Team.

To earn a spot on the Osborne Citizenship Team, student-athletes had to complete a minimum of six community service/leadership projects in the academic calendar year and remain in good academic standing.

Berringer honorees must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA, completed at least eight new service activities in the past year and have had no off-field incidents.

i am told the young man decided to fail all his classes and will be ineligible to play in the bowl game.

Impressive.
"Your Boy"? What does that mean?

Also, the kid is set to graduate what is he thinking? Planning on his NFL $$ to carry him forever?

So is anyone seeing this anywhere else? Terrible news and very disappointing if true.

Wow. How sad. I wonder what he was thinking? Even if he is just counting on NFL money why in the heck would you throw away a college degree that is so close to completion? This just goes under the category of "young people, no matter how smart, often make really dumb life decisions."

But I agree with the comment above about our accountability system. Why were no red flags apparent? When I was a prof I would routinely get these little emails from various athletic coaches asking me to verify how student athlete so and so was doing in class. I would get many of those emails almost every week from one coach or another. Doesn't NU do that too? I can't imagine they don't

Next man up, more game experience for him.

I agree.
I would also toss out this very off the cuff and subjective observation. Please tell me if I am wrong. But it seemed to me this year that Nate was often superb and a real play maker - - earning all the praise he had gotten and then some. But then there were other plays, and sometimes large portions of whole games, where he just seemed to be mailing it in. Am I crazy? I mean on this point and not in general? lol

He was guilty of mailing it in last season. I thought he played much better this year except for OSU and our last game.

Last year it was obvious to me we had some malcontents weren't trying as hard as they could have and were ignoring coaches because they were loyal to the old staff. I didn't see that this year to be honest, but perhaps I missed it? Maybe we weren't as bad as we looked against so many mediocre teams this year, maybe we still had some of that.

The fact that it was temporarily removed by the mods and subsequently reposted is confirmation enough for me.

That's what I was thinking too, till this tweet came out. I belive that's Nate in the front row, isn't it?

Not that this means your info isn't accurate, just found it interesting. I'd hope, if in fact he's academically ineligible, he wouldn't be attending the bowl game with the team, on our dime.

Idk. Maybe they are waiting for the finals to be graded. Ha ha

The guy who told me is pretty connected and has never let me down before. So I am trusting it for now.

We see what he is when there are superior men on the other side of the ball. Yes, I did say that about Iowa. We have dropped a long way from when Eric Crouch made them his bitch his sophomore year.

Possibly a new era for the positive for neb football
I am serious when I say , positive . It's well known that neb is last in the b10 for academic prestige and the only university not in good standing or even a part of anymore with the academic organization as they got booted from that soon after joining the big 10

So this is positive if true because when has a football player in Lincoln ever been ineligible ?
One former player was even quoted that it's really impossible

Just another example of a lack of leadership by key players on the team. I for one will not be sad to see this senior class go except for Westy and Reilly.

Jeesh! Did this Sr. class key your car and pee in your front yard or something?

Or is it still just a Pelini thing?

We're finals this week? Maybe grades went an issue until taking them? Just guessing.

That is my guess too. That would explain why there were no red flags to the coaching staff. Maybe Gerry just said "screw it" and decided to skip his finals, not turn in final papers and so on. I had many students who would be doing solid all semester and then for some damn reason just crapped out at the end.

Strange. In the post practice player interviews yesterday, A Williams talked about what a great leader and role model Gerry has been for the team, citing his work ethic, punctuality, knowledge of the game, willingness to help others and practice and weight room habits. Guess maybe it didn't necessarily all translate to the class room.

Hope it's not true. And if it is true, he might technically be eligible since 2nd semester wouldn't have started. Don't know if that's true, or if it's just the final grades of this semester.
