He might have been the best choice as it stands now.
Maybe. But two years ago when we were looking for a coach, he was 46-42 at ISU, coming off a 4-8 season, and was 1-5 against Iowa.
He might have been the best choice as it stands now.
I sure do, this was from November of 2022:
Here’s the whole thread, where my takes aged beautifully and brainlets like Tuco and headcard’s did not
A Closer Look at Matt Rhule's 11-3 season
I've been negative on Matt Rhule so I decided to take a dive on his 2019 team to have a more informed opinion. Stephen F. Austin: 56-17 Good, clean win over an FCS program. That's how a P5 team should perform against FCS. SFA would finish the season 3-9 UTSA: 63-14 Another dominant win...nebraska.forums.rivals.com
Here’s another thread from October of 2022:
Yes. But they do a lot with a little. Their recruiting classes are probably as good as Houston’s.Didn’t he just lose to Houston?
Matt Campbell was coming off of a 4-8 season at the time. You forgot Matt Campbell since you have mention all the other bozo’s..

The balls deep move would’ve been Deboer.
Klieman would have been the best coach and his record speaks for itself.Obviously Klieman, but you have to hire his AD to get him.
The good thing is we have a chance at coaches with a similar pedigree like Vigen.
October 24, 2022:I missed the part where you said Rhule was the worst option on that list? 🙂Nevertheless, I liked Klieman too, not as much as Kiffin or Rhule. That being said, outside of Klieman and the fat guy, I’m not sure the rest of that bunch are much better.
YES: Meyer, Klieman, Leipold, Freeze
MEH: Campbell, Aranda
ABSOLUTELY NOT: O'Brien, Rhule, any service academy coach
also, whoever said Vance Joseph is a certified pervert
We should’ve hired someone a year earlier than we hired Rhule but blockhead trev was too timid to fire the worst coach in NU history after all the moral victories in ‘21
Yep, one of those head scratcher losses. Two things:Didn’t he just lose to Houston?
Monken would be the best hire, but he wouldn't come here. And I'm tired of husker fans thinking we are somehow above this offense/style. We have a five star quarterback and still cannot do what everyone else is doing. We have piles of evidence. If Rhule fails I vote we go all in on an option offense
Is the criteria for a potential new coaching hire that he never loses a game? Eliminates quite a few candidates, don't you think?Didn’t he just lose to Houston?
Haven't seen him in a while. Meanwhile Bielema's gut seems to have expanded.Frost is more mature now
We have the money to expand our doorways.I picked Brett and still wish we had hired him over Frost.
Best comment of the night! We have the money to expand our doorways.
What? Dude just got worked over by Minny. Missed a bowl game last year.Fat boy can coach his fat ass off in the BIG 10..
Are you suggesting that Bert ate Frost?!?Haven't seen him in a while. Meanwhile Bielema's gut seems to have expanded.
If someone eats an alcoholic, do they become one themselves? Are you suggesting that Bert ate Frost?!?
You are what you eatIf someone eats an alcoholic, do they become one themselves?
I guess I am an amazing vagina. You are what you eat

Shitty losses happen (Bama vs Vandy), it is if you see improvement. That’s kinda the point. None of the replacement options seems like much of an upgrade. They all have some pretty shitty losses
I’ve heard that about youI guess I am an amazing vagina.
No but a loss to a 3 win team like Houston, coupled with 3 narrow victories is reason to judge. Is the criteria for a potential new coaching hire that he never loses a game? Eliminates quite a few candidates, don't you think?
Kansas State is still in prime position to compete for a playoff spot
He never explicitly said so, but he was definitely interested. Give the man his bag!
No more budget hires and budget measures!
So now that we're almost 2 years in and with all the "fire everyone" talk, hindsight being 20/20, who should we have hired? I included what I remember to be the realistic, most thrown around names. Assuming we weren't getting Saban, Urban, the ghost of Bob Devaney, etc. And guys like Cignetti weren't on anyone's
KU had a tough schedule to start off with. Never schedule a P5 program game one unless you are a perennial power. Lose that first game and you are going to be starting from behind.I follow KU and Leipold closely. They are the most snakebite team in the country. They’ve had the lead late in the 4th quarter in every game and have been bitten by turnovers. They held Jalon Daniel’s out of spring and fall camp (contact) and he came back with 6 inches of rust. Took him several games to shake that off and it killed them. It’s also taken half a season to get used to a new OC. Still believe he is a very good (old school) coach. He can be a little prickly with media/fans (not in a Pelion way). That might be welcome here. 😂
They play 1 of those 3, and I’m confident Colorado doesn’t win outThere are currently 3 teams ahead of them and 4 teams who also have 2 conference losses right there with them. That puts exactly half their conference in prime position to compete for a playoff spot.
