I sure do, this was from November of 2022:

Here’s the whole thread, where my takes aged beautifully and brainlets like Tuco and headcard’s did not

Here’s another thread from October of 2022:

I missed the part where you said Rhule was the worst option on that list? 🙂Nevertheless, I liked Klieman too, not as much as Kiffin or Rhule. That being said, outside of Klieman and the fat guy, I’m not sure the rest of that bunch are much better.

Didn’t he just lose to Houston?
Yes. But they do a lot with a little. Their recruiting classes are probably as good as Houston’s.

No, I didn’t verify that.

I just guessed

Was I right?

Urban was always no. 1 no matter how much money was involved. Maybe it's too late and he'll never be back.

I wanted Chadwell offense, but Klineman was top of the list if I'm remembering right.

I was vocal at first about not liking the Rhule hire but settled down and said I would give him a chance. Not anymore he's blown that chance with his failures. I'm tired of waiting, I'm done with this clown show of coaching hires. They owe the state and us fans a better product.

Obviously Klieman, but you have to hire his AD to get him.

The good thing is we have a chance at coaches with a similar pedigree like Vigen.
Klieman would have been the best coach and his record speaks for itself.

October 24, 2022:
YES: Meyer, Klieman, Leipold, Freeze

MEH: Campbell, Aranda

ABSOLUTELY NOT: O'Brien, Rhule, any service academy coach

also, whoever said Vance Joseph is a certified pervert

We should’ve hired someone a year earlier than we hired Rhule but blockhead trev was too timid to fire the worst coach in NU history after all the moral victories in ‘21

king_kong

We should have hired king_kong Dude knows everything and is an offensive and defensive genius the likes of we have never seen. Comparable to Belichick, but better. We are simply graced he takes the time to post on this board.

Didn’t he just lose to Houston?
Yep, one of those head scratcher losses. Two things:

1) Willie Fritz is a good coach, had Kliemans number at Tulane, too

2) Kansas State is still in prime position to compete for a playoff spot

If Rhule fails I vote we go all in on an option offense
Monken would be the best hire, but he wouldn't come here. And I'm tired of husker fans thinking we are somehow above this offense/style. We have a five star quarterback and still cannot do what everyone else is doing. We have piles of evidence.

Klieman is the best on that list, but we need to find someone who just wins everywhere.

Looking back we should have hired the fat man or kileman. We at least would have a semi functional staff, run the damn ball, and not making the same stupid mistakes.

But if LL would have brought his QB with him then we could have been really good especially if his OC stayed with him.

Is the criteria for a potential new coaching hire that he never loses a game? Eliminates quite a few candidates, don't you think?

That’s kinda the point. None of the replacement options seems like much of an upgrade. They all have some pretty shitty losses

Kansas State is still in prime position to compete for a playoff spot

There are currently 3 teams ahead of them and 4 teams who also have 2 conference losses right there with them. That puts exactly half their conference in prime position to compete for a playoff spot.

He never explicitly said so, but he was definitely interested. Give the man his bag!

No more budget hires and budget measures!

Yeah, I'm right there with you on Urban. If Trev didn't throw everything at him to get him and he still turned us down, then he effed up big time. I'm 100% sure there was interest. I guess we'll never know why it didn't happen. I have my suspicions it was more about morals than budget though.

So now that we're almost 2 years in and with all the "fire everyone" talk, hindsight being 20/20, who should we have hired? I included what I remember to be the realistic, most thrown around names. Assuming we weren't getting Saban, Urban, the ghost of Bob Devaney, etc. And guys like Cignetti weren't on anyone's
I follow KU and Leipold closely. They are the most snakebite team in the country. They’ve had the lead late in the 4th quarter in every game and have been bitten by turnovers. They held Jalon Daniel’s out of spring and fall camp (contact) and he came back with 6 inches of rust. Took him several games to shake that off and it killed them. It’s also taken half a season to get used to a new OC. Still believe he is a very good (old school) coach. He can be a little prickly with media/fans (not in a Pelion way). That might be welcome here. 😂
KU had a tough schedule to start off with. Never schedule a P5 program game one unless you are a perennial power. Lose that first game and you are going to be starting from behind.

I knew after the ku coach told trev no, it was rhule..which I'm ok with..
but I suggested gruden

Interesting thread but a moot point. We hired Rhule and even though we will most likely end 5-7 once again he will not be fired. We are stuck with preacher boy for at least one more year. We will be even worse next year so hopefully he will get shit-canned at the end of next year.
Then we pull out all the stops to hire a coach with a proven track record of winning. Not a guy like Rhule who has one good year at a team and then bolts. We need someone like a Klieman or Campbell who have shown the ability to win consistently

They play 1 of those 3, and I’m confident Colorado doesn’t win out

Irrelevant to the fact that Klieman is a way better coach than Rhule
