Hey Huskers I am going to be polite because you are some of the best fans in college football, and you deserve it, but I really hate you guys right now (so forgive me).

But you are getting a hell of an AD with Bill Moos.

A little background on Moos. He was WSU Alumni and ended up at Oregon. He was the guy who courted Phil Knight to make Oregon a success. He really helped make Oregon great at fooball.

When he came back to WSU we were in trouble. We were basically trash at football. T R A S H. We were probably the WORST program in Power 5 easily, and maybe the worst in FBS at times.

Pete Caroll infamously kneeled when USC was beating us so bad... We had won a total of 9 games from 2008-2011.

9 games TOTAL.

2-11,1-11,2-10, 4-8 from 2008-2011.

Moos came in and he got us Leach. The first few years were kind of rocky as we transitions, but we made a bowl in 2013 for the first time a decade. (We had only been to 10 in our history).

That year we beat USC in the Coliseum. It was the first time that had happened I think in 16 years.

The last 2 years we have been bowling, and qualified this year at 6-0 and beat USC again at home.
We have beaten Oregon 3 years in a row.
And under Moos/Leach we have beaten every single Pac-12 team at least once in the six years.

Moos rebuilt our stadium to make it beautiful.

Here's what it looks like today.

Before it looked like this.

I know that doesn't seem like a big change to you all who have some giant 70k stadium, but to us its a big deal. It made a huge difference.

We went from having a sort of large hichschool style stadium, to actually having a professional football complex and Power 5 facility / game day experience.

Moos did that.

He made us relevant again in football with Leach. He made us feel like we belonged with great facilities, he helped us believe in ourselves again that we could win, that we could compete with anybody.

The man is nothing but a builder, and he honestly is one of the best ADs in the country. (Basketball isn't so hot, but we were kind of spoiled with Bennet). In the end Moos/Leach rebuilt WSU, and it wouldn't have been possible without Moos.

He was the one who got Leach, he was the one who organized the facility upgrades/remodel, he was the man with the vision and it worked. We became a threat to anyone in the Pac-12.

From doormat, to legitimate contender to win the Pac-12 North./ Conference. (We had a chance at the end of the season to do it last year).

Despite the stumbles and growing pains I wouldn't have it any other way. The man did it. He pulled it off with a school that only makes 24 million in revenue for football.

I'm sad, I'm angry, but I just wanted you all to know that you got one of the best we ever had, and honestly I hate you all for it today, but I understand, you all are a big time school, you can offer more than us, he always deserved that, but it still hurts.

Take care of him for us.

Thanks. I don't doubt that he has mixed emotions about leaving but suspect that maybe he feels it's time for the next guy who will be there for a couple of decades to step in and keep it rolling. Good luck. Beat Udub.

Feels like the Riley hire....and everyone knows the CEO of Nike is who built the Oregon program/brand

it looks like Moos was let go after getting into a spat with Phil Knight

"Moos left Oregon in 2007 after a dispute with Nike founder Phil Knight, who made significant donations to Oregon athletics programs.[4] He had signed an agreement which paid him $200,000 a year for not taking an administrative position at a BCS conference university west of the Mississippi River. During his hiatus between 2007 and 2010, Moos took to raising beef at his Valleyford, Washington ranch.[4]The exact reasons for his resignation from Oregon are unknown, but the dispute with Knight regarding funding for an arena to replace the aging McArthur Court "strained a bit toward the end."[5] After Moos resigned, Knight donated $100 million towards the building of a new arena for Oregon.[5]"

It's pretty clear that Moos is being brought aboard for the sole purpose of pissing off Warren Buffett and getting a massive donation bounty put on his head. He probably has language in the contract stating that he is to receive a percentage of the donation.

Some boosters need to know what line can be crossed and what line can't. Phil Knight is probably one of those boosters that need to know those lines.

It almost landed them in hot water.

Good thing we don't have a Phil Knight then.

Well I am going to be honest, don't be surprised if Chip Kelly is your next coach. It was Moos who hired Chip at Oregon.

It will not surprise me one bit if Chip Kelly is already in talks with Moos and part of the deal is he wants to work with Moos again.

Moos understands football, and Chip wants a great ad to work with. That's Moos.

I'd take him.

Please God no. We don't need Kelly's baggage. It wouldn't be a good fit culturally with NU football or the state.

I don't see it. Chip Kelly hates recruiting and has baggage. With Frost, you'd get the Chip Kelly offense without any of the baggage.

If he hired Leach at WSU, should we expect Kevin Wilson to be at the top of his list if Riley is let go? Winking

I'd take him.

Chip Kelly’s personality makes Pelini look like a warm teddy bear. Which works fine so long as you’re winning. But make no mistake, everything he does comes off as “kiss my ass, I’m the head coach”

Comin in here, where fans and the media throw a shit fit if Diaco didn’t get immediately to a presser after Ark State....... I think it’s a terrible fit. Even for a good coach.

Nick Saban would be a terrible fit then? Maybe Husker fan and media as a collective could use this bye week for reflection then. We aren't the coaches. And if we are limiting who we hire because of fit with fans and media then we will never make it back.

After last night not sure Wilson would want to be the Head Coach here after sitting up in the booth last night.

I think Chip is going to UCLA. Anyway, Moos is a fine hire. The guy was a cattle rancher in Washington and had Nebraska on his radar for 25 years. To me, the AD is a figure head. Now go get us a star. Good hire.

Sounds like he was being forced out too...

Bill Moos' decision to leave as the athletic director at Washington State for Nebraska is a direct result of growing friction between him/the WSU athletic department and university president Kirk Schulz, who arrived from Kansas State in June 2016. Moos twice asked for a contract extension and was rebuffed both times, according to multiple sources. Said one: “Kirk Schulz has been awful for athletics. Since he arrived, it has been tense and awkward and difficult.”

I seen it said by their fans that it makes them mad and they fear who Schulz will bring in.

Over politics. Not over not being able to do his job. From all accounts he was successful at WSU, after he was successful at Oregon.

I didn’t say it was right.

I said that I don’t think it’s a good fit and stand by that opinion. Fans of this program aren’t yet over the devestating comments our interim ad made last week about the walk on program.

And I don’t think Kelly is the kind of guy that embraces that kind of “what did you eat for breakfast and why” culture.

Time for us to change our culture then. Time for self reflection. Moos is a successful AD and half the comments are negative on here. Chip Kelly could get hired and half the comments would be negative. I'm tired of this negative B.S.

Agreed.

I just hope if Kelly gets hired nobody ever, ever asks him about the walk on program.

Cause he’s likely to say something point blank like “walk ons aren’t going to take us to the next level. Next question.”

And within 30 seconds, 487 people around the state would go immediately into cardiac arrest and pitchforks and torches would be sold out statewide within 10 minutes.
