We are who we are

Well who else is there to talk about? Got names? Gimme some.

If Nebraska is going to blow this up now they better get real serious about getting a stud coach and Frost isn't it. You make the call to Washington and offer Peterson up to 7 or 8 million a year and be done with it. If he said no, do what it takes to get him here He could be had IMO.

OK. Just don't see him leaving the northwest. Worth a shot.

I have no idea who OP is but losing seasons at NU is nothing but disgusting. TO for 25 years never had a losing season. Devaney, despite taking over a totally destroyed program never had a losing season. Frank never had a losing season.

Even the supremely hated Bo never had a losing season.

Again, being an "outsider" has nothing to do with anything. It's simply your BS excuse. Clownahan & MR were/are at "best" inept. Those two losing machines could have been born & raised in Lincoln or Mars and it wouldn't make any difference what-so-ever.

Give it a rest. The 20 year purgatory is a direct result of St. Tom with his two pathetic hires and his complete meddling and trying to undermine the staffs he didn't put here.

we aren't getting what many would consider a home run hire out of the gate ... Peterson isn't coming here at any price. If we get a home run coach that will be proven out during his time at Nebraska - we aren't getting an established A list coach.

Like it or not - Frost will likely be one of the top coaching candidates on the market at the end of the year. I think most programs in Nebraska's lane (this isn't a top 10 job - maybe the 4th or 5th best job in the BIG) would be excited to have him. As I have said previously we are going to have to get a guy on the upswing - once they are an established A list coach Nebraska is no longer an option.

Maybe we could go after Kyle Whittingham at Utah - he makes $3.3 million currently - is he worth the 5-7 million that it might take to get him?

BS.... no home run coach is going to come here until the University of Nebraska gets serious about bringing one here. It will take money, backing, and telling a few individuals from the past to stay the hell away from the program.

I don't see any future with Riley who ever the Head Coach is

You do realize that if Frost is hired the style of offense and defense will be changed especially on offense...

With that schedule of all those road games we face it will be very difficult for a new staff and schemes to have a winning season so it wouldn't be that surprising if they had a 5-7 season and least we would be seeing more of a future of what we could become instead of another year of Riley with no future.

Yep I realize that and am getting tired of saying this so it’s the last time. One sub .500 season would be understandable...not acceptable, but understandable.

But Kchu5 said with Frost “some losing seasons” would be ok because he would eventually right the ship. Why? That implies multiple losing seasons and that should never be accepted here. That Frost is a Nebraska guy seems to be the only reason we are oknwith losing seasons. We should be just as demanding on a Frost or a Meyer or a Saban.
If not we might as well burn the stadium down and build a playground for unicorns with rainbows and sprinkles because we are ok with fantasy land.

Petersen built Washington into a Top 5 team. He's not leaving that for another rebuilding project.

Stop overestimating Frost. He pales in comparison to what Fleck did and just how hot was he? Frost should be last resort, as a matter of fact let him go to a bigger school and prove he can coach the big boys. If he loves Nebraska like people on here say he'll jump whenever at the opportunity.

That "style" and "identity" seems to be working well for Wisconsin. And they've done it without a single Top 25 recruiting class.
Serious question. How successful must the Huskers be to keep the coach around. Would most fans even be happy if Nebraska were to achieve Wisconsin-level success? Is regularly (50% of the time) representing the B1G west in the B1G CG and going about .500 in bowl games good enough?

I'd be happy especially if U throw in a couple of conference championships in a 6-8 year window.

Pelini achieved that level of success and would probably still be here if he wasn't a jackass.

I'd say at a bare minimum - no losing seasons or losses to MAC schools after Year 1, winning the division more often than not, and ideally a conference championship every 4-5 years. When you look at the division we play in, that shouldn't be asking too much.

We’re not a regular player, they are and I’d take it.

Dantonio won three games last year.

You would have fired him?

Good thing you are not hiring a football coach. You would end up like the guy that hired Riley.

I'd give Chris Petersen two losing seasons and still keep him around. There. Is that what you wanted?
I just don't think he'd accept the job.

Hmmm.....I'm not sure. But having two losing seasons in three years absolutely won't hack it.

It's a serious answer. I want Scott Frost hired so I can go to games again and our idiot fans will not bitch every time something bad happens. I am dead serious. Why do you have a problem with me agreeing?

Problem with agreeing with what? We both agreed Riley had to go--- I never said I wanted Frost

He's always been my favorite-- if I remember correctly after Pelini's 6th year Sam-I-Am said Nebraska was one of few teams Peterson would leave Boise for.. we should have made it happen

Could have had Peterson, could have had Frost.

Carnival of bad decision makers.

Honestly, I think the only good decision maker in the entire state is Warren Buffett

HCIWSF will probably struggle at first. Maybe even have a few losing seasons at first. But, eventually, I think he can right the ship and actually be here for the long haul.

We know MR is not going to get us near/over the hump, and he cannot physically be here for the long haul.

Hire SF, back up the Brinks truck for whatever assistants he wants, and give him time and support.

GBR
Disagree. If SF comes, he's winning 9-10 right off the bat.

It's not "OK". But it may be inevitable. This program is backsliding, and has been for years. A quick-fix is unlikely.

But you just keep on keeping on with MR. That's fine.
We have some talented players on this roster and no one who's bad who is being considered to start next year. The team is poorly coached is the biggest problem. If we hire a good coach, which I think Frost is, he won't have a losing season next year.

RollingLaughPeterson's not coming here. What a joke! Got any other brilliant ideas in case your Peterson plan doesn't work out?

What about Tristan Gebbia? A lot of people are high on him.
Too small and not fast enough to run an Offense like Frosts. Need to get a JUco or stud Freshman for his offense next year

It's an honest question given the expectations set up. Wins are a lagging indicator.

Frank: .753
Bo: .713

Mike: .563

Perfect example of why Nebraska is in this mess. A ton of the fan base is stupid enough to think the midget and 408 were competent coaches.
