Rutgers' fans were among the best I ever experienced on the road. Was a great experience.

I’m on faculty at Rutgers and I have season tickets at half price. I’ve only been there for a short time so I’m not really “fan“. I’ve gone to a few games and I heard Schiano speak a couple of times. He is very sharp and very impressive. The team plays with great vigor and is very tough defensively. The running back is outstanding and difficult to tackle because he’s load of the ground. This is going to be a really tough game.

By the way, they have a great before the game ritual. Instead of the tunnel walk, they have the Scarlet Knight riding on a horse. On the video scoreboard over the stadium you can see the Scarlet Knight riding his horse through campus. It’s the same tape every time and it’s not really happening, but when the tape ends the real Scarlet night actually appears at the open end of the stadium and rides on the horse. It’s really great! You also get to hear a lot of Bon Jovi songs when the game is going on.

We met a nice Rutgers fan couple when we went to Durango and the 4 corners area under schianos first stint at Rutgers roughly 15 years ago. Great visit

Hard not to like this guy and what he's doing over there... This being his 2nd stint I see him settling in for the long haul over there. That's gonna be an issue as he's the type who can and will build one heck of a team... I could see where they could be the next Snyder/K-State type team where they're always in a conversation for the top of the B1G

Another big stat with them is they have 4 sacks this entire year. Dylan should have plenty of time to sit back and pick them apart. Illinois said the same shit about disguising coverages and causing him to throw picks and guess what... Didn't happen. I just hope for once Satt tries to get a little bit better in the run game and we should win comfortably.

Maybe just a rumor, but I also heard he has contacts on Madison Avenue in Manhattan that are being used to create NIL opportunities. That may be part of the reason why he’s doing well.

Total Defense - NU 19, RU 69 (Rushing D - NU 15, RU 98)
Total Offense - NU 62, RU 48 (Rushing O - NU 87, RU 12)
Turnover Margin - NU +5, RU +3
Rutgers will want to control the ball and keep Raiola off the field. Statistically, Rutgers' D is a little leaky and Satt should be able to find some running plays that hit. Rutgers has a stout running game, but nearly 2/3 of that came against Howard and Akron. The only decent run defense they have faced is UDub (#51).

Let's be honest here, to get eight bowl games at Rutgers is considered quite the feat.

The thing with the Rutgers Landscape compared to the Nebraska Lincoln landscape is The Huskers are the Big boys in the neighborhood, pretty much the only show in town.

In NJ we have a Fanbase of Pro ball Fans.
NY Giants, NY Jets and Philadelphia Eagles play and 1 1/2 hours from Rutgers University. a 3 hour drive to see the Washington Commanders.
Also have the NY Knicks and Brooklyn Nets an hour and a halfway and the Philadelphia 76ers.
NY Rangers an hour and a half and the Philadelphia Flyers.
Not to mention the NY Mets or the NY Yankees.
So the airwaves are loaded with Pro Teams in our area and all within driving distance.
We have fans on our forum today deciding to go to the Mets game or stay home to watch RU NEB game.

So no one is a die hard. Got it.

Also, most Nebraska fans are fans of other pro teams also. Dumb argument.

Teams like the Washington Huskies had the highest attendance in the Pac despite the Seahawks. Texas Longhorns etc have great fanbases despite pro teams around.

Rutgers has 600,000 alumni to Nebraska's 193,000~. The excuses are dumb. Some teams just don't have very passionate fanbases.

what does this have to do with schiano potentially having been complicit in the locker room horrors at PSU?

My point was we can drive to different pro teams with 90 mins of Rutgers University.
How many Pro teams within 90 minutes of Lincoln can you go see?
Lincoln Salt Dogs? Omaha Beef?
Point being you don't have a Pro Sports Team in your State, while the Tri State area is filled with Professional sports teams Spring summer Fall Winter. This area is unique when it comes to pro sports the only other area similar is California.
Im not saying Nebraska fans dont have their favorite Pro teams, just sayin ours are in our back yard while yours are all out of State.
Giants and Jets have sold out stadiums every week.
For Nebraska football fans a Game in Lincoln on a Saturday in the Fall is the Event of All events!
Nebraska Football is a "Brand" thats why yer in the B1G!
Rutgers Football is not a Brand like that. Rutgers sits in the #1 media market in the Country that's why we are in the B1G $$$$$$$$.

My point is College football is on Saturday and pro is on Sunday. Nothing would be stopping anyone from going to both if anyone actually cared.

You were part of the lowest rated Fox game on a Friday night last week. Unless Rutgers gets it figured out their media market does nothing. No one nationally is going to tune into a Rutgers game unless they are playing their team.

Of course it would be interesting if that would change if you would become a consistent winner. I just don't think there is anything appealing nationally about Rutgers(style of play, intrigue, etc) for whatever reason.

For most people time and money are in limited supply. How you allocate them is a personal decision. For me, I spend Saturdays watching football- in person if RU is home and on tv (both RU and other B1G games). Could do other stuff, right now am in Mets/Yankees and Giants/Jets area of NJ as opposed to those in southern Jersey in Eagles and Phillies territory. Also have the NY Liberty in WNBA playoffs.
Can also go to grandkids soccer and basketball games. In order of priority RU and grandkids trump the pro stuff.
Other people have other priorities - my daughter and boyfriend drove to Baltimore Ravens game on Sunday, didn’t do any local team stuff.

Good lord. Did you just use the WNBA as a reason for low fan support for Rutgers football? It's like people in Cali always making excuses for half filled stadiums and talking about the beach and mountains. Yeah, not even 60,000 people that aren't at the beach or mountains 6 Saturdays in the fall.

The excuses are unreal. You know why we have unmatched fan support? Because we don't make lame ass excuses and we make it a priority to attend games. Everyone is busy. Some just have different levels of priority.

You are absolutely correct in saying Liberty fans have no impact on RU football. Probably none of the 10 -12 k people who go see the Liberty play are skipping RU to go, and they are almost never in completion at the same time anyway. I was just mentioning pro sports teams currently playing. Could have thrown in hockey ( Devils, Flyers, Rangers and Islanders) or NBA (Knicks, Nets and 76’s) and Redbulls soccer but didn’t because they are not currently playing.
As an aside, I did take my granddaughter in to see the Liberty this summer. Tickets, tolls and parking wasn’t cheap.
I assume for many this weekend Mets/Phillies and Yankees playoff games will trump college football for viewers.
Anyway, aside from competition with other sports college football culture in NJ is very different than Nebraska (and I’m an expert on N since in 1960 I was there for an hour or so driving thru the NE corner to go from IA to SD (actually my dad was doing the driving). Even though Rutgers was charted about 100 years before Nebraska and played in the first college game about the same time as Nebraska got its charter, Rutgers was a small private college until the mid 1940’s - NJ did not have a state University. It was the states land grant college. Through legislative acts in the mid 40’s and 50’s it became the state U.
Rutgers was still overshadowed athletically by Princeton which is only 1/2 hour away. While Nebraska was playing big time football, RU was participating I something called the Little Three (RU, Lafayette and Lehigh), playing and losing more often than not to Princeton every year and playing schools like Columbia, Colgate et Al. Not games to attract National or even local tv. They were playing in a small stadium built in the 30’s as a WPA project. No reason for any NJ folks not affiliated with RU to care.
Prior to going “bigger” time RU had a couple of chances to go to bowls when they had undefeated teams once in the 60’s when President wasn’t interested and in 76 when they declined to go because they felt they deserved a better bid.
If you’ve not been bored to death and made it this far, one point about BTN , tv viewers and RU invite to B1G, not only does RU bring in NYC/NJ fans to the network it also ads lots of alums from other schools who live in the area. Lots of MI, PSU, MSU, MD etc fans live and work here (got to admit I don’t know of many Nebraska fans tho). NJ has long exported students to out of state schools including a few football players to you folks.
Two more asides: it will prob ly take about 10 years total attendance for RU volleyball to equal your one game record attendance and the few RU fans I know who ever ever been to NE games consider Cornhuskers fans to be nicest in the league.
Anyway, thanks for getting this far, I will now shut up and drop the subject, here’s hoping that I am happier with today’s results than you are

You are missing the point entirely. Sports fans in the Omaha -Lincoln area have limited options on where to spend their sports entertainment dollars. Actually they have no options…it’s Nebraska football ( and BB , volleyball, etc.) and nothing else.
In the NY/NJ market there are 17 professional sports teams playing year round. Numerous other options for fans to spend their money and attend games. Does this have impact on Rutgers ? Absolutely…as it would with any other college team.
