Trev Alberts and Scott Frost a Real Possibility?

Any idea how connected Feldman is? Would he actually know this, or is he just speculating like the rest of us.

It is getting easier to do the math.
The writing seems to be on the wall.

It seems to me these days anyone citing "a source" is probably just getting stuff from message boards.

The article states "a source", so I would assume there is at least a little connection and not just Feldman making speculation.

Maybe his source is from lurking on a Husker message board though... Lurk

People are very, very tired of people posting "fake news" like it's witty or funny or something.
look I posted a buzzword!!!

People are very, very tired of people posting clickbait articles quoting anonymous sources.

They restated today that they are using a search firm, that at least gives me hope that they aren't going to Trev.

After the heat for not using a search firm for the last hires, they would be stupid not to hire one, even if they have their guy.

A " source" says there is "some truth" to the fan rumors. How many people did this go through before it got to him? I prefer to sit back and let those in charge do their jobs. I am assuming they didn't ask anyone in this board for their opinion. I could be wrong about that as well. This just shows the truth of human nature.

Pieces like this do not fall in place randomly.
Eichhorst fired.
Dr Tom on campus.
Dave Remington named temp AD.
Trev down the street at UNO....

Dr Tom is on campus... to take over duties as head coach and is bringing the option back to Nebraska.

I read it on the internet...

I am not for Trev...but if the only reason you are against him is cause he cut a wrestling program that no one outside of the wrestlers cared about and a football program that no one cared about at all...well...you don't have good reasons.

If people are pissed at Eichorst for the way he handled the Pelini firing then they should be super pissed at Trev for the way he handled cutting the UNO wrestling program.

How about if I use those reasons and add that he's unqualified, literally no other high level P5 schools would hire him and that I dislike him on a personal level?

No one is pissed about that...except that it should have happened sooner. SE is gone because he hates people, shaking hands, talking, laughing, and people.

Sure...but the only one you know for sure is that you dislike him.

Initially many were pissed, until they heard Bo's going away tape.

Here is a strange quote from the article:

"The reality is that Riley has a major uphill climb to keep his job past this season,” Feldman writes. “Even winning six of his last eight games (which would mean knocking off one of those three top-11 teams) probably won’t be enough.”

I find it very hard to believe that Nebraska would fire Riley with a 8-4 record, a victory over OSU, PSU or Wisconsin, and likely a division title.

I also know he is unqualified. He has done a poor job at UNO (mediocre if you're generous). Their finances are a mess. His only accomplishments are hiring Blaise (great hire) and building Baxter arena (yay?).

If you think the fanbase was divided over any of the previous coach hiring/firings, firing Riley after finishing 8-4 and winning the division would probably destroy whatever legacy TO has left.

They restated today that they are using a search firm, that at least gives me hope that they aren't going to Trev.

My experience with "search firms" or head hunters, is that their job is to manage the process and find candidates at a number determined by the company. It could be 10 and it could be 5 or 3 and then the committee does their job or selecting from that group. If they don't find what they want, they go back to the search firm and say start again.

At least that has been my experience with these, your mileage may vary. The search firm is NOT the selection group - generally.

I would hope they are a mess...is there a school in the country that doesn't have a D1 Football program and/or amazing D1 Basketball program that isn't a mess?

I want Riley to succeed. That's the best possible scenario. But if not, I feel a hell of a lot better that there's a plan in place.

I wondered if anybody else caught that... seems odd to me as well. Even most on this board who are ready for a change have said if (and I emphasize IF) he gets to 8 victories he’s safe.

You haven't noticed the numerous posters posting that TO was a failure as an AD and a "puppet master"? His reputation has certainly changed since 1997 and not for the better.

I saw Alberts tonight. Really wanted to ask him some questions, but would have been inappropriate, and doubt he would have answered.

Riley won't finish 8-4 this year. It's much more likely to be the opposite.

First I'd suggest you contact the writer of the article about the implausibility of the article he wrote. Then feel free to lecture us on what hypothetical situations are suitable topics for this board.
