Rhule Wisconsin PC

I agree Rhule has made some very poor hires as assistant coaches. That’s very obvious. However I don’t have a great deal of confidence he would get it right the second time around either. He had lots of coaching experience BEFORE he came to NU and missed. Did he just get smarter in the last 2 years? And then there is the elephant in the room nobody wants to mention. Maybe NU is no longer a highly desired spot for coaches? One way or another, change needs to be made.

His single digits might have worked at other schools, but here it looks like it’s backfired. Except for Ty and he’s been inconsistent, it has been a bust time to do away with that
Every single digit player in our secondary has had a subpar year.

Banks hasn't done anything that a couple of other WR's couldn't have done in a season.

Unless and until this coaching staff demands every contributing player gives everything he has, or replaces them, this program will go nowhere.

Do you not think that DH thinks McGuire is a joke as the WR coach?

Banks has had a couple of unbelievable sideline catches.

Yep, but overall, he isn't anything special.

32 catches in 10 games for a team that's thrown 333 passes, nothing to shout about.
How many “special” WRs are hitting the portal to go to a program that hasn’t been to a bowl in 6 years? I still believe he’s better than his backups.

Yes or else he wouldn’t have called out the receivers for not blocking

This is Rhule throwing a player under the bus. If he cost us touchdowns in 3 games why in the hell was he still playing by game 3? Do we beat USC if he is on the bench? Who knows, but our chances would have been better. The decision to play him is on Rhule. And what is Rhule implying here? That Hill lied to them about how bad his injury still was? But once again, if that was the case it should have been immediately evident to any coach with eyes that the dude was still compromised.

The more I listen to Rhule the more I hear the voice of a man who knows he is a dead man walking. That his team sucks and he knows it sucks. Holgorsen is a band aid. A PR move to buy time. He may not even be back next year.

Rhule is putting together a good recruiting class. But once again, so what? We have seen this movie and heard this bullshit before. We win the off season and fans see a decent recruiting class and all of a sudden hope is in the air. But then the season starts and reality takes over. Other than Holgorsen all of the coaching staff remains. And if they are all back next year expect more of the same.

The only glimmer of hope I see is if Holgorsen stays and many offensive assistants are shit canned. Holgorsen could then hire a competent staff.

If that happens will we see an air raid offense? Shit I hope not. But if it works I will suddenly become its biggest booster.
IMHO the only hope is he fires OC , wr and rb coach- brings in a power run, option/play action OC and states “this is Nebraska” - if Raiola and his uncle don’t approve- wish them well- we have to have an offensive identity

I understand the dismay but he isn’t going anywhere and will be our head coach next season..

Need to find a way to win one more game and possibly two and hope he makes coaching changes after the season is over..

Seniors need to finally find away to win..
I ran into a friend today who is a Nebraska fan because of Rhule. His son was a student at Baylor when Rhule was there. Until today he has always been a big proponent of Rhule. His attitude has flipped. He agrees with most of us that there has to be changes in the coaching staff. He said that when the Husker's young receiver coach was a player at Baylor he never played much. He mostly just walked up and down the sidelines in Rhule's shadow.

You only make one aspect of my point stronger. Namely, that if Hill is not really a good player and he has cost us points why in the hell is he playing at all? Are his backups really that awful? If they are then why? How many defensive backs are on our roster? 132? And not one of the them is worth a shit? That too is on the coaches for not recruiting better. Rhule made this situation what it is and now he is throwing shade at Hill to deflect blame.
Cooper getting fired and replacing him with the former Bills DB coach Butler looked great on paper. But the net result has been more conservative coverage and less blitzing & unpredictability in the defense. Plus you have a new coach who doesn't know the players so he's gonna lean on his vets and those NFL guys don't sub out a DB unless they lose a leg or something. And that's what got us here. If Hill stays healthy all year, maybe we don't have this discussion. It's just another unfortunate twist.

Bottom line though- it is never good to have to replace an assistant coach in July. Rhule found a good replacement with an impressive resume, but it hasn't been a good fit.
