Purdy Refuses to Face Media After L

Garbage. Dude you are crapping on these kids - sorry they aren’t living up to your amazing standards.

Would love to know what you do for living and what kind of shape you are in. I have my guesses so would really like to see if I’m close.

It’s annoying to sit here and question the effort of our players - it’s tools like you who give our fan base a bad name.
It's not kids anymore, they stopped being kids when they started getting paid millions for playing the sport so now they can accept criticism...it comes with cashing checks. And I already admitted that it's insensitive, what more do you want?

I'm retired and in average shape for my age.

I just want to thank all the brave kids who stormed Normandy

The vast majority of these students get zero NIL. So let’s not pretend they are making millions through NIL and therefore we can condemn as professional athletes.

Purdy is a unique situation in that his brother is unexpectedly killing it in the NFL. He has his parents come in for his game the day after his brother has a big NFL win. This must have been devastating on multiple levels for him. I also agree that he maybe gone next year. He only came due to Whipple who is now gone and his best bud - Reimer - is going. If I was him I would go to a G5 program and try to get reps. He is not going to be the number one guy here next year. I am willing to cut him a break though I do think in general it is really good experience to learn to "face the music" early in life. It is a lesson that will serve you well in the future.

Nice try, this is the oldest message board fight trick in the book. Stop clutching your pearls, it's an example to show that you don't need a bunch of experience at something to know when it's bad. Were you offended by the movie example too
Again…
It's almost as brave as talking shit about a 22 year old from behind a keyboard on an anonymous message board.
This....

I know all those weirdos talking sh!t about HH and get all butthurt when you talk about Satt as a failure.. very odd indeed

That's not true. The vast majority get something, the vast majority don't get millions.
I'm not sure you have a grasp of reality.....I'll share a real life NIL circumstance, albeit not at Nebraska, but Wichita State. A track athlete who attends there (and our church) showed me her NIL capabilities for raising money...most were of the signing autographs, birthday party attendance, clinic holder , etc....nothing topped 50$, and almost none of it happens....making money is not very realistic

I have asked this question before. Do you think the players know what the fans write and say about them? My guess is not too many of them read this Board. Anyone have any idea how much the players know about us fans?

They don’t read this board.

I assume 100% of their interactions with fans in daily life is overwhelmingly positive, bordering on celebrity.

Same goes for coaches.

Our media and fanbase are meek knee benders who’d never in a million years make somebody feel uncomfortable.

Not always a bad thing. Not always a good thing, either.

I was thinking the same thing. He was completely crushed after that game. When I was coaching, I would want to see that response after a tough loss.

Then, I would always tell the kids, "Now we can choose what to do with it. We can cry and feel sorry for ourselves...or work to get better so that you don't ever have that feeling again. That's what it means to hate losing more than you love winning."

I really don't give a shit if he refused to talk to the media. What I care about is how he responds going forward. The game is over.... he made the mistake. He'll either get the yips....or become mentally tough.
I think we know by now how all three quarterbacks react to adversary and it is not well. Sims was a turnover machine in the Minnesota game. Then he was worse at Colorado. HH, although he led the team to victories, continued to turnover the ball. Purdy throws a dumb interception in the Maryland game only to throw a worse one in the Iowa game. How many times do they have to screw-up before you realize they are all prone to turnovers? Do you think the Huskers should just trot out the same players next year and hope for better results? Do we have to watch another season wasted just because we want to be fair to three players? Is it fair to the rest of the team that they are saddled with flawed quarterbacks?

The one I would say is that HH and Purdy(not Sims) were pretty new to this type of situation...I think they CAN get better....

I get it. When I was in school I never said to any of the football players, "Wow! you really sucked last game". I get that about the players. The coaches however are paid employees. Someone needs to let them know both the good and bad concerning their job performance. I find it interesting how many coaches blow-up and get all sensitive when their performance is questioned. My work performance was reviewed every year as an employee. I in turn did an annual review with all my employees. It is part of being a grown-up.

Not to mention the amount of pay some of these coaches get for doing shitty jobs. Getting fired and being able to retire as a wealthy man is flat out appalling to me.

"New"! How many games does it take? "I think they CAN get better"? Do the Huskers need to have another losing season next year before you realize HH and Purdy are subpar quarterbacks? The quarterback position is the most important position on the team.
Nebraska was always pretty good when they had quarterbacks who could play at the level of Jerry Tagge, David Humm, Vince Ferragamo, Turner Gill, Tommie Frazier, Scott Frost and Eric Crouch. Not so well when they lacked one. Not very many Top 25 teams have starting quarterbacks that consistently turn the ball over. They make plays. No excuses anymore. Huskers either spends NIL money in order to compete at a high level or do nothing and remain insignificant. I really think it that easy. (Those 7 quarterbacks I have listed above would cost a school millions of dollars in today's world. Can you imagine how much Frazier would make if he were playing today?)

they aren't very good college quarterbacks
So we can make judgements on guys who’ve played 7 career games, for example, but not on coaches with a years long body of work coordinating turnover prone offenses?

Just trying to keep things straight.

This is helpful thank you

There is a reason HH wasn't a QB this year until the top 2 were injured and nowhere to be found last year. He's not very good.

Sims is mentally broken and wasn't great at GT.

Purdy is the best of the bunch and he transferred from FSU and, while being better than last year, currently isn't very good. Serviceable, sure.

You could’ve just said “yes”

It’s perfectly fine to make final judgements on players after 7 games but it’s illogical to not want to wait and see for years about coaches with much longer track records.

Thanks again. Very helpful for everyone to see you’re exactly the same as everyone else in spite of your haughty above the fray constant side eye smart aleck question asking.

I never said they would never get better. Sure they can. Some mature quickly, some slowly, some very little at all.

But right now, none of them are very good.

Were you raised by a single mother? Just curious.

Right now Satterfield isn’t very good.

Odds he improves are much slimmer than a college kid in his first exposure.

Glad you’re finally coming around to it.
