Because you have to have a qb who runs, and does everything else. All the weight of the running and passing game have to be pinned on him.
If the doctors at the hospital found anything positive in the tests last night I doubt they would have released him after 30 minutes. We have an excellent medical staff and trust they will make the best decision for Tommy.
The injuries have decimated the offense. The o-line is razor thin without depth and they are the walking wounded. Carter, Ozigbo, Westy, Brandon are all hurt and missing playing time yet we played one hell of a game against Wisconsin and had our opportunity for a win stolen. Ohio State is bigger and deeper on the lines so because of our injuries we couldn't stop or defend ourselves. I'm just truly disgusted how the Scott Frost backers turned on Mike Riley especially since we all know and understand football. I didn't expect a huge blowout loss but Ohio State was literally the worst matchup possible coming off a heartbreaking loss to Wisconsin.
I was critical of the officiating too, but the real win-thief that night was TA and his horrific passing.
I'm not worried about the defense. They have been the bright spot on the season despite some roster problems.
Even with Tommy being Tommy and our offense being a walking M.A.S.H unit we should of had the ball with a first and goal at the eight yard line.
Most of these numb nuts that are so embarrassed by last night are the same ones that had no problem with the epic ass beatings that 408 took time after time by average teams, not elite ones.
Fyfe was warming up, the camera didn't show who O'B was throwing to. Coach Riley even commented post-game Wisconsin that Fyfe was the one they were going with if Tommy missed any snaps that game.
No he did not. I was just kinda thinking aloud I guess. If Riley would have got a 3rd tier kid in his first recruiting class(if it's called that when you only recruit for 2 months), I'm guessing the kid would still probably be ahead of Fyfe.
Now that a certain poster from Omaha is no longer here, most people know they can express their opinions without being attacked, although a few of his "associates" are still trying their best to carry on his tradition. As for yesterday's game and angry fans, what is it about absorbing the second worst loss in Husker history that would possibly bring you here to lecture fans for venting? Get.A.Clue.

No Nebraska fan in the world didn't have issues with those games. It's a semi-popular theme here, but simply not true.
Here are my thoughts. The fans saying we won't win another game are overly emotional. The fans saying we are lucky if we don't ave to play in the Championship ame becuase it will be another beat down are overly emotional.
Take a step back and look at all of our results and all of college football. We played Wis to the wire and that team played with both Mich and OSU.
NU laid an egg last night. That in no way means they will every game going forward.
The overly emotional response gets really old.
Not lecturing the whole fan base. Just the select assholes that have been dreaming of this kind of loss.

Last night was bad, really bad, so the below isn't to "cover" for Banker.
Rose-Ivey, on three separate 3rd downs, was put in a great position to make stops. He wasn't put there by falling over, he was put there by Banker's call. Each occassion, he failed to make the stop. Edge blitz, can't bring down Barrett for a 3-yard loss. Zone read, keeps his assignment and gets trucked over. Can't recall the third one, but pretty sure all three happened early enough, before the game was out of hand.
That's uncommon for Michael, he's usually a machine in instances like the above but for whatever reason, he didn't make the plays. Make one or two, and who knows what happens before it gets ugly.
Banker did stink last night, like a pack of skunks.

I also think people are making too much out of tOSU's close wins. They didn't show up to play in those games. They came into last nights game looking to make a statement for the playoffs. And they did.
A team that was death penaltied (yeah i know it got rescinded, but damage was still done).
Maybe cautiously optimistic is a better term than foolish. I am not surprised in the least bit in the outcome. It still stings. It still reinforces we are not the Huskers of yesteryear. Probably not close, but maybe closer than I think this morning. Ok, it is what it is---let's move on. It's still a really good year but I have to change my paradigm to see that. Mike Riley is restoring good sportsmanship in Lincoln and that's great to see.
In terms of building a "powerhouse" football program, I don't know if he is the guy---honestly I would be surprised if he is. Doesn't make me want to ride the guy out of town though. He's a very respectable coach and even a better man. Maybe when he gets "his players", we'll scratch the top 10 again ( I hate that excuse).
Glad Tommy's OK. BS hit in my opinion. Also, glad we're not playing CU this season. Would hate to lose to those jerks that I live amongst. But that's another story....

Thanks for your thoughts. I just hope people can tap into their long-term memory. 10 wins with this roster was a HUUUGE accomplishment in my mind at the beginning of the season. 8-9 wins was a solid step forward after year one. Right now we are 7-2 with three winnable games left. Let's go!

We were on self-imposed probation for years. This kind of game-ready depth is what happens when you have lazy recruiting, and refuse to fill recruiting classes.
Northwestern, a team we beat, kept it competitive. Does not seem completely foolish to me.
We know Fyfe is not ready, we have seen his limitations. At least POB might have some upside.
