You never know who you might be sitting next to at a restaurant.

My wife and I were having dinner yesterday at a local Mexican restaurant. There were two men sitting at the table next to us and they were joined by a third man shortly after we sat down. The third man greeted one of them as "coach ". I figured he must be a coach at one of the local high schools. As we ate our dinner we couldn't help but overhear some of their conversations. It became apparent that one of them was a college coach recruiting someone. We heard a number of college names including Iowa for some reason. My wife finally asked them where they were from, stating I was a huge Nebraska fan and they were killing me with their recruiting talk.

They introduced themselves and it turns out that one of them is the Defensive Coordinator from Colorado College of Mines in Golden Colorado. He was there visiting with a local High School coach and the father of a student he was recruiting. Issac Cater, the Defensive Coordinator from Colorado College of Mines mentioned that they were Division 2 school and play a school from Nebraska, Chadron State. I said, "that's where Danny Woodhead went". He said, "Yes I know very well that he went there. I coached against him while at New Mexico Highlands". I told him, "Yep, the coaches took a lot of grieve for not offering him a scholarship to Nebraska". He said, "Well, a lot of coaches missed on him including in the NFL" We then told him we'd let him get back to it and excused ourselves.

Just thought I share and thanks for looking.

Always interesting to hear those types of stories.

My daughters play club volleyball here in Colorado - they are younger (11 and 13), their national qualifiers were on Saturday, both qualified for nationals. On Sunday, the older girls played their qualifier tournaments, my daughters wanted to watch the older girls in their club try and win their way in. I was watching a match on a different court, there was a gal out there that had to be 6-5, she was definitely taller than me (I'm 6-2). I asked a parent/bystander who that tall girl was, she said its a soon-to-be 15 year old that recently accepted a scholarship to Nebraska to play volleyball. Sure enough, I did a quick online check and it was a girl who plays for NORCO here in Colorado. I did try to start a "Go Big Red" chat which was met with sideways glances and dirty looks....can't blame a guy for trying.

BTW that girl was outstanding and to think she is not even 15 yet blows my mind.
