this guy bought the Utah Jazz for over a billion dollars. He's a big sports fan of BYU. He is putting up money to recruits in football and basketball. It is fairly well accepted that he offered 5 million to a recruit from Baylor's bb team. he said if a recruit doesn't end up at BYU it won't be because of the amount of money offered.

The destruction of college sports.

i don't mind if BYU runs the Big 12. would be a fitting outcome as they're essentially a G5 conference.

Yeah Warren would rather give his money to gates to buy up Nebraska farmland
LOL Gates owns something like 22,000 acres out of 44 million, or .05%, wooooooooow soooooo much. Ironically, the Mormons own 17 times more Nebraska farmland than Gates, so I guess a BYU satellite campus will pop up in Ord soon.

The part that really burns is… He has enough money to make Nebraska the top NIL program in the country and give billions to Gates. (and/or maintain all his current donations) It’s almost as if he intentionally doesn’t donate to Nebraska athletics out of some sort of misguided spite.

Really makes the man hard to like. From a die hard Husker fan’s perspective.

Well... since Warren won't be giving any more money to Gates after his death you can still hold out hope his kids are big NU fans. That said, I very much doubt any of the wealth will be given to any form of NIL.

I wish the forum could just get all the 8 figure net worth people in Nebraska and tell them how to spend their hard-earned money.

And we can thank the jackasses at Farm Bureau for bankrolling the lawsuit that took down Nebraska's ban on mega corporations buying up Nebraska land. These mega billionaires can do anything they want now and there's not thing one any of us can do about it.

The Peed family is our Warren Buffett.
Ricketts also.
I wouldn't put any Ricketts' name even close to Peed when it comes to NIL. Correct me if I'm wrong. If Ricketts' decided to take the money they spend on personal causes and put it all toward Nebraska football, that would be a game changer for NU sports.

Gates owns 242,000 acres of farmland nationally.

Warren Buffett's estimated net worth:

Roughly $120 billion.

$25 million is what % of $120 billion?

25,000,000120,000,000,000=0.0002083 or 0.02083%\frac{25,000,000}{120,000,000,000} = 0.0002083 \text{ or } 0.02083\%
Now let's apply that same percentage to someone making $100,000 a year:

100,000×0.0002083=$20.83100,000 \times 0.0002083 = \boxed{\$20.83}

✅ So if someone making $100,000 donated like Warren Buffett donates, they’d be giving about $20.83 a year.

One is a net worth and one is an annual salary. I doubt Buffet is pocketing $120 Billion annually.

I thought Ted Turner owned a bunch of western Nebraska?

You really want to go there?

Here’s Warren Buffett’s estimated **net worth per decade**, starting in **1955**. Keep in mind, early figures are rough estimates based on historical accounts and Buffett's own writings or interviews.

Warren Buffett Net Worth by Decade:

| Year | Estimated Net Worth | Notes |
|------|----------------------|-------|
| **1955** | ~$100,000 | He was 25 and had formed Buffett Partnership Ltd. a year earlier. |
| **1965** | ~$7 million | Managed multiple partnerships; acquired control of Berkshire Hathaway. |
| **1975** | ~$100 million | Berkshire’s investments (like See’s Candies and Washington Post) took off. |
| **1985** | ~$1.4 billion | Became a billionaire in 1986. |
| **1995** | ~$17 billion | Berkshire stock grew massively during the '80s and '90s. |
| **2005** | ~$44 billion | He had already begun planning his giving pledge. |
| **2015** | ~$67 billion | Continued wealth accumulation despite major philanthropy. |
| **2025** | ~$130 billion (est.) | As of 2024, his net worth is around **$134 billion** (per Forbes). |

25 Million for him is less than $20 for us especially if he can use it as a write off

lol - dude all he was saying is that you can’t compare “net worth” of someone to annual income of someone else.

You also have to take into account what his liquid assets are… I’m willing to bet a vast majority of his wealth/ net worth, is tied up in the market or other holdings, such as estimated value of a business if it was sold today… that’s how net worth is… so you’re taking 25% of what is essentially imaginary money

Still have to believe he has access to it all, and since he basically doubles his net worth every 10 years. He does only make roughly 13 Billion annually

There are 31,536,000 seconds in a year

Per Second = $412
Per Minute = $24,733
Per Hour = $1,484,018

Since this Based on how much he earn for every Second of the year he works 24hrs a day

Per Day: $35,616,438

A person that makes 100k a year...

Per Day before taxes: $275 (roughly)

That is 0.0007%

So basically Buffett giving $25,000,000 is like a person making $100,000 giving $200

Regardless. If my holdings in real estate increase this year from $1 million to $1.5 million but my job still only pays me $100k. I did not make $600k this year.

I have no idea where Buffett keeps his money, how much salary he pays himself, if any at all or if he just lives off the interest of a couple of large investment. Again it is irrelevant. Unrealized gains are not income.
