OT: Goodbye Mrs. Boxes

FIFY. It was a pet peeve of my wife and all the ways that people misspelled her name. But I used to love to bug her so, of course, I had to mispronounce her name on occasion just to get a rise out of her. I appreciate your kindness, my friend.
I’ll never mess it up again… except, of course, for the next time ❤️☺️

Today was our (31st) anniversary. Much nicer day today than yesterday with all the thunderstorms. I knew with the rain that I needed to bring a chair, as I normally like to sit on the ground. It wouldn't have mattered anyways since there was an ant mound right in front of her tombstone. LOL

I couldn't log into my Plex server from the gravesite. So, I had to fire up YouTube to play some of her favorite tunes. I had to laugh for a bit when some people saw me dancing on her grave. I'd like to think that she was dancing with me.

Have you tried dating again or is that something you are not ready for that? I imagine it could almost be impossible.

I don't have a close friend that lost a spouse (just divorce) so I don't really know how it feels/works for anyone.

I've dated four women since her passing. Didn't date at all until a year and a half of her passing. I haven't found the right one yet.

Although I sobbed at times, it was a good day. I talked with one of her friends yesterday. What is wild is that whether it be friends, relatives or those that just happened to meet her, there is one common theme. They universally believe that she was an angel that lived amongst us. I had one coworker tell me (unprompted) that she could communicate with spirits and that my late wife was my guardian angel. It was weird, but I looked at her and said, "I can believe that." My wife was one of those people that you felt blessed just having met her. I believe that I was blessed too.

Oh Boxes, I'm so sorry. I can't imagine how hard this has been for you. Such beautiful memories.

I love that you were playing music and dancing at the cemetery.
I just wish I would have brought her flowers. I remember apologizing to her on site. I always forget to do these things that I think of ahead of time. I was supposed to check the server before I left home because it happens so often that if windows or Firefox is not updated it doesn't allow me to connect remotely. Don't know why. But it was hard to dance when I'm crying. That's okay. She is worth it! 🙂

A few veteran's day pics that I didn't include in the Veteran's Day thread. These are of our section that the missus is buried in. There's that tree again and I took one to the right down our row. Lastly, there's the only customization I was able to put on her tombstone. At the bottom I had them put her favorite term of endearment. @Huskers1588 I was rereading your comments. Yes, it's sad. But It's also happy. You don't experience loss unless you have something to lose. I was blessed.

Today is the 5-year anniversary of my sweetie's passing. Seems like yesterday, to be honest. Took today off from work. Kind of overcast today with all the rain we had yesterday. Made sure to bring a chair since I didn't want to be wet or muddy while sitting next to my love. Even after five years, I can't believe she's not here.

Thoughts are with you. Had a good friend lose his wife to cancer. My wife has dedicated her life to fighting against the disease through research and development. Even named her dogs Faith and Hope.

Like your wife, I believe she has to be an angel too. I know this, she is way to good of a person for me.

Good luck to you and Merry Christmas!

Does it ever get easier, or just different with time? I don't know you, but I always appreciate your posts. Your love for her just seems so pure and perfect.

I sometimes think about what I would do if my wife passed before me, and the thought just seems terrible.

Thanks Bigboxes. Can't imagine or pretend to know what you've gone through. But do know that you are appreciated 👌👍

It does get easier. But my love for her has grown stronger even since she's passed. It's a bittersweet thing. You know what they say, it's better to have loved than do not have loved at all. Thanks for the kind thoughts. 🙂
