OT- DC commercial plane and Blackhawk collide

Still thinking the jet could have taken evasive maneuvers.......wow

And if there was something wrong with the BlackHawks altimeter, more often than not it was adjusted wrong and /or not picked up pre trip, which again is the responsibility of the crew and ultimately PIC.
IF means IF. IF he had seen it earlier. He apparently tried to pull it up when he saw it way too late. No doubt his singular focus was on the runway and his older plane likely didn’t have the latest accident avoidance tech that might have warned him in time.

Fort Belvoir (where the unit is based) is like 10 miles straight line from DCA. Pretty common for them to be there.
I live about 3 miles from Davison field in Lorton, Va. That is where the Blackhawk flight originated. A few years, a Blackhawk was down to the trees right next to our apartment no more than 150 feet away. Maybe as little as 100. Likely from Davison.

Also, about 5 years ago, Air Force One turned to line up for final to Andrews about 2000 feet above our apartment.

This thread is a bigger disaster than the disaster it was created to discuss

Nice! I lived in Montclair for a while when my parents were stationed at Quantico & Pentagon. I don't miss the traffic.

Lmao. Canada will cave to whatever he wants.

Every country tariffs the hell out of us. Canada tariffs the hell out of us. It’s sad the media lies for foreign interests and we have citizens so daft because of it that they hate their country. The entire media complex is guilty of treason
When the WSJ calls it the dumbest trade war in history…….

Just face it dingle the stupid bitch flying the helicopter was somewhere she wasn’t supposed to be and killed 66 other people.

Sounds like this was all on the helicopter? Flying near 300 feet while the ATC described the plane they need to watch as being at 1,200 feet just south of the Wilson Bridge.

I wonder if the air traffic controllers will get an apology from everyone that immediately blamed DEI if the helicopter is indeed found to be at fault?

First of all she wasn’t stupid. Second of all she had a flight instructor on board who could have corrected her if he was awake. It’s fine if you want to solely blame her but they HAVE to address the other safety issues to eliminate as many variables as possible. They need a redundancy of checks to prevent crap like this.

You mean like a blinking red light and an alarm telling her she's flying right into a huge fvcking plane? I gotta assume a system or two was yelling at her to stop...I find it impossible to believe that hopticopter didn't have a collision avoidance system telling her she was fvcking up, loudly.

I actually believe a former Blackhawk pilot said they don’t have accident avoidance warnings because of how they’re flown. I could be wrong.

What WAS turned off was a system that might have given the tower a more accurate altitude reading. I’ve questioned since the beginning the accuracy of the altitude reports and wondered why the control tower hadn’t warned the Blackhawk that they were too high. This might be the smoking gun in that regard. The tower data recorder had the Blackhawk at 200’. The black boxes say the collision happened at roughly 325.

No it was perfectly clear they saw the wrong plane . They were asked multiple times even once after receiving visual separation. They answered affirmative every time. This is totally on the helicopter flight crew . But you and Dingle won’t accept that.
I accept the helo crew screwed up. I always did.

Especially if what I think I heard is true and they were wearing NVG’s at the time. In a well lit area, that creates more problems for the crew. Then there is the radar equipment that was turned off, which should only be turned off in situations where you don’t want to be tracked.

The helicopter crew is definitely negligent.

Yes, it’s perfectly clear they saw the wrong plane. It’s clear NOW. It needs to be clear before the accident.

Going forward the point is to prevent this from happening. If no changes are made on the side of ATC Communication, then they are not fixing the problem. We’re not talking about flying in and out of Omaha. Sure, the flight path cannot take you over Offutt, and vis versa. But it’s not a tight airspace. In DC, You have helo’s and plane in close proximity, with documented Close-calls in the past, you need to look at the whole scope of operating in an airport environment.

Their signature electronic were turned off because they were doing doomsday training

She is PIC fault ultimately lies at her feet. She was either stupid or she was evil. I won't speculate but there is no way they didn't see that commercial jet.

It's not airport environment. It is Class B airspace. Everything besides breaching the ceiling is just noise. If you are Military training in Class B, C or D airspace, it is really really really important to respect the ceiling.

The easy answer to this is no more training in controlled airspace. The equipment was turned off due to flying a continuity of government mission, so for some reason they're allowed to turn it off. If there is a little bit of blame to assign besides the BlackHawk, it doesn't belong to the tower or the pilot of the jet. It belongs to the Military for wanting these missions, politicians for wanting increased traffic at this specific airport and the FAA for allowing this insanity.

Waiting to release her name so they could scrub her online history first is a giant red flag...to big to ignore, for me... and since they did it, i'm left with no choice but to assume it would have made her look like an idiot and we all would have wondered how she got to where she was with the views she displayed. They would have been better off not doing that IMO...no matter what it showed, because now people like me feel justified thinking the worst.

She ignored warnings from the flight instructor.

You were right😕. My inclination to blame a very young commuter pilot and support a military pilot was completely wrong. I hear crow tastes like chicken.

So basically it was intentional. Or she's a moron who just killed 64 people because she couldn't take direction.
Not buying any of this post .the people in the chopper had the wrong plane is site the whole time.At no time did the tower tell them to change flight directions. Not sure where this bitch is coming from.

People commit suicide by semi and cop fairly often.

That’s true . But my point is where are the getting information that the instructor told her to Change direction. It didn’t come From the tower . Why would he say “they want us to do this “ when there is no audio to back him up .

Doesn’t really matter. Training pilot kept telling trainee that she was 100 ft too high. She acknowledged but never corrected. At what point should he have taken control??

Absolutely she was clearly above the ceiling. She caused the crash by doing so . But people shouldn’t make shit up to make it look intentional.

Was the air traffic controller involved in this crash at fault?
The question is whether or not the controller manning both stations could have prevented the crash if his attention wasn’t split between two stations? We’ll never know but probably not. That was not standard OP though for that airspace at that time of day. The supervisor who let the other controller leave work early may bear some culpability. They have their person to blame so even though they’ve addressed the controller situation and military traffic, I doubt any blame will be assigned publicly to the controller and supervisor.

When a post is made with this level of certainty from a Right Wing or Left Wing extremist I ignore the information provided.

Mods you can delete this post if you think it is political, however all I am saying is I don't believe that post for one second and like @Big bo fan said show the source or GTFO

Well she intentionally ignored ceiling and commands from flight instructor. Couple minutes later, almost 100 people died.
Yes she to far above the ceiling but she was looking at the wrong plane IMO . She is still ultimately responsible for the crash because that reason. I was extremely critical of her when this happened due that exact reason My point tonight on the post about her disregarding the instructor to change flight direction and saying she intentionally ignored him . I am saying there was no radio communication tape that was released that I heard telling the chopper to do this .if you are going to post something like the tweet in question to accuse someone of intentionally flying a chopper into a plane you better well dam have evidence to back it up.

Evidence? This is a message board. We should not be held more accountable than 'legacy media'. BTW, the United States Armed Forces practice with and deploy helicopters, aka Helos. Choppers are what we use in kitchens to process food.
