Here's the problem with that thought in my opinion. You can run the same offense but unless you have the same coaches and head guy calling the plays, it won't matter. Tom had an ability that few others will ever have, that is what separates the good coaches from the great ones. The good ones know football inside and out, draw up great plays and plans for winning games, know what they want to get done in a game, and always come up short. The REALLY good ones know all of that and every single tendency, every weakness in footwork, the DB who turns the wrong way, the guy who gives a little more effort when things are tough, he sees it all in micro detail.
Tom knew exactly what how to attack every single D and every player on that D at any given time. It has been remarked when he sent in a play that he was ready to call the next play with a good idea of down and distance before the play was even run. He gets the most out of a player who others give up on or discard because he can see things others don't.
Yea, bring back the I formation, he ran the wildcat too with Phillips, Maryland I, wishbone and you name it but it doesn't matter. The head guy with all of the details is what makes it tick.
