I can believe the Panthers are being assholes and want to help minimize their mistake.....I do not believe this story though because LL cannot really be in Trev's #2. That is ridiculous.

Well IF Carolina is insisting that market rate is a contract like Mel Tucker got we sure as hell better let Carolina screw themselves. I suspect they think Saban’s 12 m/year is the going rate. Nebraska has always had a significant part of their coach’s total package from “other sources”. Even Carolina can’t be so stupid as to refuse to let NU pick up even half of their obligation…..can they?
Tucker is getting like 9.5, and no one would argue that the 6th highest per annum salary is "market rate." That's the top of the scale. It'd be a pretty hard argument to make that the guy you fired is deserving of one of the highest salaries in P5. Since we're talking about what we suspect, I suspect it's a lot more likely that Nebraska is incompetent (because we are) and that Trev is arguing over something inconsequential like $4 mil instead of $5.5 or $6.
EDIT: Never mind, you said Saban. Although it would be even more dumb for them to use Saban as an example of market rate.

The problem arises though when you commit a load of money then the guy doesn’t produce (e.g. Frost).
More like Jimbo. But you have to do whatever you can to make sure you get the guy most likely to win.
Trev talks about “fit” a lot. I don’t think there’s a better fit out there than Fickell.
Hopefully Trev sees the same and does what it takes.
I was talking to a guy today about the coaching search. He seemed pretty confident that he knew who the next guy was. He told me it was Rhule. He also said NONE of the current staff will be retained, including Mickey. That part kind of surprised me, not the former. He gave a couple big Husker insiders that he is friends with that told him this allegedly. I won't divulge their names, but that is what he told me. Rumor still at this point. He didn't know when they would announce it, but he figured soon after the Iowa game. Take this for whatever its worth. I am the same idiot that was told by multiple people that Zavior Betts would never make it to Lincoln. I was wrong on that. I was right years ago when I said Aaron Green was coming to Lincoln. Lets see how my great inside info history will look after this.
With the million other rumors floating around here, I hope I am safe. I have never got in trouble on this site. Hopefully I keep my head intact.

Carolina was obviously gonna throw some chin music on the $$$. But they won’t blow up the chance of clawing back a chunk of their payout just to be pig headed.
Paypig board is reporting Leipold is tabling talks with his extension at KU until after the season. I have to believe NU and/or Wisconsin are after him and that is the reason. Whatever people's expectations are (I think it would be a good hire) LL may be the next NU coach. Leonhard hasn't exactly closed the door on being hired as an interim, especially if they lose this week.
This smells more like Wisconsin meddling with Lance than Nebraska. It’s a total mess with McIntosh and the football staff/team. If we pull off a win against Leonhard this Saturday, it’ll only get murkier in Madison. And with Lance’s affinity for the Wisconsin program (and domination at UW-Whitewater and Kansas resurrection from the dead), you better believe he’s getting some flyers.
Knowing what we know, verbatim from Trev Alberts hunting for a proven CEO manager/grinder, I just don’t see Trev offering LL the job. And to be honest, I don’t think Lance wants the NU job. He should honestly stay put at Kansas.
