Just Cut Sims already

At some point we’re probably gonna need a backup QB. I really don’t think Rhule had any thought that there was any way we were going to lose the game. It was a good chance to get Sims some game reps. Ouch. Didn’t go well.
No doubt, and I don’t have a problem with him taking snaps at exactly when he was inserted into the game…..but taking that penalty and running that ball with sims on 4th and 1 felt like an out of body stupid decision. Would’ve been dumb with almost any QB back there. Live and learn I guess.

Oh, and giving Grant Carries late in the 4th quarter is also just absurd.

I thought he was a turnover machine at his previous school. No?
He had some great games too at G Tech. Physically gifted QB. Not in a good place execution wise or mentally now. I see the same stuff from other QBs all over football. Card is a 5th year senior I think who started for Texas. He fumbled a snap and threw a couple of INTs. I suspect Rhule would love to have Card on his roster.

Sims looked out of sync and we should never have run that 4th down play.
Also, didn't Purdue tackle Sims like 10 seconds after the whistle on the 3rd down?
It would be nice to get our backup QBs more garbage time low pressure snaps with handoffs and easy short passes.

What is the story on Purdy? He can't be worse than turnover Sims. I know he wasn' as good as Thompson last season but we really need to have a ready backup or at least make HH know his job isn't completely secure if he has poor games.

Saving a redshirt? Or he doesn’t produce in practice. He was injured early in the season. Can’t seem to stay healthy. Who knows.

he already redshirted 4 years ago

he's simply not an option. Sims shouldn't be, either.

we have one QB on the team.

Sims turnover history was clear before he came to NU, but what we’ve seen just over two games, and a few series is baffling. Never heard of it at any level, just baffling.

Lol.....yeah im a black supremist.

I guess Im just being jealous of Haaberg's heisman performance today.

I guess it was self hate when I called Sims the dumbest SOB ever.

i won't. I dont want to catch stupid from your posts..lol

I honestly don't think Sims has any interest in playing football. There's simply no way you could lose your job 6 games ago for being a turnover machine and then get another opportunity to play and fumble within 4 plays. Sims has absolutely zero awareness or concept of what turnovers really do to a team.

He's just taking up a scholarship. That's all he's here for.
Not really into conspiracy theories, but one has to wonder with all the fumbles Sims has, is it on purpose? It boggles the mind how a QB that made it to this level turns it over so much??

I may have an unpopular opinion, but Sims is an athlete, just not a quarterback. Put him on defense, use his speed was an asset instead of letting him churn to a different school.

Something that’s almost as concerning as the turnovers for sims is the out of position zone reads. I mean good night. He keeps trying to hand the ball off to a back that isn’t there. He’s clearly brain dead out there.

Sims had a terrible series and we won by 17. Maybe Purdy is #2 now.

People continue to assert that somehow Purdy was worse than Sims even though when he played last year he led some scoring drives. Sims has exactly one TD pass to his name on a trick play that he nearly fumbled away. He's the worst we've ever had at that position in my opinion. Sorry. He should not play again.
Purdy should get some reps as the only viable backup.

Converting a player requires a couple seasons to really work. He has only one year left. Just let him transfer after telling him he doesn't cut it here.

My feeling is that Sims is a physically talented guy who has reached his peak and now has lost all confidence and desire for the game - at least in Nebraska. Rhule should shut him down and let him transfer after the season to get a fresh start - at a place like LaTech where he can sling it 50 times a game and see if he can fix his issues as he has probably an NFL body and arm but not brain at this point,

Completely agree. He's got to be close to some sort of record for highest turnover-ratio in history. That fumble yesterday was inexcusable. It actually appeared he was more than willing to give it away.

But the reason you guys think his fumble was so important is because the starter just gave Purdue 7 points with a fumble . Sims never should have ran the play in the first place but the head coach felt like being an idiot.

Its a team problem not just Sims is all Im saying. Haarberg has been given chances to overcome his mistakes. Which have been atrocious.

We had 5 fumbles yesterday.

HH’s turnovers aren’t costing us wins though.

Stop being prideful. 5-1 with him at Starter in hard to hate on but you keep doing it

The guy cannot hold onto the ball at all. Haarberg had fumbles today but it's just not the constant that we see from Sims. Sims couldn't go one series without a fumble.
To win the west ball control will be critical against Iowa and Wisconsin.
On the plus side the adversity at the end of the game will keep them from getting cocky and careless going into the stretch. This is still fixable.
The motion man almost getting hit again was enough for me. Doesn't happen with HH.

Haarburg makes mistakes but doesn't look confused ...just fumbles with effort not panic. Sims just looks lost and fumbles out of frustration. Still a fumble ...but you are going to have some fumbles if you are trying to make a play. Sims looks like a drunk trying to drive a car.
