Just said on the radio that Kansas St tried to pay him back in the day. Said Missouri was shady as well. I didn't think they had that kind of money.

QB for the Vikings a few years ago (OK, probably like 10) recounting his recruiting days and said a certain booster of a bigtime program tried to bribe his family with a bunch of cattle, they were ranchers of course. He didn't sign with them, but I found it interesting. How in the heck would anyone ever find out about that? All the sudden one day your heard has 200 more head of cattle it didn't have before, presto, highly rated QB for highly rated program.

Kansas State pulled off one of the greatest recruiting violations of all time to pull Josh Freeman away from Nebraska.

The current governor of Kansas is Sam Brownback. He was a US Senator from Kansas back in the mid 2000s. Brownback is also a Massive Cat Backer. He earned his Bachelor's from K-STATE.

Ron Freeman, Josh Freeman's dad, was an unemployed and failed businessman in Grandview, MO. He was not a Kansas resident, and his only venture into politics was a poor attempt to run as a Republican Candidate for City council and county government in Jackson County, MO. While he was a Republican. He had no experience in public office. He was not successful at anything beyond some assistant high school coaching jobs.

Ron wasnt really qualified to Manage a Sonic, let alone any entity of Significance. Nobody in Jackson County, MO or Missouri state politics even cared about Ron Freeman. He wasn't on anyone's radar. He wasn't a fixture in Kansas City politics either.

Josh Freeman had dozens of options. He was a big time recruit and arm talent. He had the chance to really go anywhere. Bill Callahan did a great job of convincing him about the NFL future and selling him on a chance to win a championship..... And considering what the team had in 2009, I think it may have came to fruition, even Bill had been fired.

Josh was excited about coming to Nebraska. Big time programs continued to call and visit, but Josh always said he wasn't interested. Ron Prince started visiting Josh, and Josh liked Prince for various reasons. At the time, he was a charismatic personality. He also related well with Ron because they were both politically conservative African Americans.

Prince had also become acquainted with Sam Brownback, who was finally receiving unfiltered access to the program. Bill Snyder controlled everything and didn't trust anyone, including US senators. Prince made sure Brownback was in Manhattan when the Freeman's visited. Sam Brownback then brokered a deal with Ron Freeman.

The Chairmanship of the KS Republican Party was going to have an empty seat in a few months. He told Ron that he could get him the position, a home in Topeka, and all the perks of the job which included an $84,000 per year salary, car, and commission for fund raising. All the while, he would be just a short drive away from his son, Josh, the starting QB only 45 minutes from Manhattan.

So an unemployed, failed businessman, with very little political acumen, from Missouri, was suddenly offered one of the most coveted spots in Kansas State politics?

A few days later, Josh Freeman reneged on his commitment to Nebraska. He cites Callahan's desire for a Redshirt season as the primary issue. This was a big lie. Josh Freeman had chances to play QB for most of the top 25 programs in the country. Hell, even if he wanted to stay local, both KU and Mizzou had much better offensive coaches and skill talent along with offenses that threw the ball 40 times per game.

Josh was brokered to Kansas State.

Meanwhile, Ron Freeman lasted roughly 24 months on the job as the KS Republican Party Chairman. He was fired amidst the worst two years of fundraising in the parties history. He actually filed a lawsuit claiming he was owed back pay. The state claimed he wasn't owed anything because of gross incompetence and laziness. The man spent most of his time watching KState practice in Manhattan. The KS Republican party paid for all his gas, travel, hotel stays, and probably his food.

We can point figures at Bama giving cars or make jokes about bag men all we want. Nothing comes close to this KState recruiting story. Nothing.

Just when you think you can't possibly hate Sam Brownback anymore than you already do, you read something like this.
