Iowa

The time has come to stop supporting this program. If the fans FINALLY stop coming to games and stop writing checks then change will happen. Rhule needs to go. He is clearly neither a good judge of athletic talent nor a judge of good coaches. Time to admit this was yet another bad coaching hire.
Dannen needs to do what the clarkeye AD did last year and force his hand letting Rhule know he needs to find another OC..

Is it better to have an identity, know who you are and accept mediocrity, have a winning record, and go to bowls every year or be like us and not accept it, yet still be worse than Iowa?
Yeah I don't know why we can't be a 35-40 carry a game team and focus hard on OL that run block like we used to. That doesn't mean we don't pass the ball. We just focus on dominating the ground game.
The template should be the Alabama teams of the early 2010s. They had good QBs and receivers but primarily beat you up on the ground.

Any organization, anywhere, has people looking at analytics. If you fail to meet your metrics you need to change something. There has to be a list of goals or metrics the offense was supposed to hit. Knowing Rhule and all our other stupid head coaches he will hit you with the Ole "we don't make evaluations until after the season" line. To me, that line is outdated and at some point a trend develops and you pass a line on the season, and can use previous data, at multiple schools to see where the offense is gonna land at years end. We have 2 weeks before our next game. Cut the head off now, sew it up and start over.

I get what you’re saying and I definitely don’t want our team to be what Iowa is over the last 25 years. The fact remains we are not even at Iowa’s level.

We flat out suck on game day. It isn’t because we aren’t talented or have the resources…we do! Each year we have everything to at least be a 7-5 team or better except this program is lazy, is never prepared, has no urgency to win, the culture sucks! It has sucked really since the end of the Pelini era. Nebraska Football will suck until new blood changes the culture. I think it has to start with replacing players that are underperforming/constantly screwing up and getting rid of some assistants.
We’ve had new blood multiple times since Pelini was canned. Somehow sh!t keeps getting worse here. Blows my mind that it turns out that Mike Riley is a better coach than the 2 clowns that came after him.

I’ll argue that you need a dictionary. 😉
Dictionary? I’m not sure what you mean?

But tell me Iowa fan…what has your football program EVER accomplished?

I mean I’ll give you that your program beats bad teams on a regular basis but in the scheme of things, Iowa hasn’t done ANYTHING. No National Championship, no outright Big-10 Championship, your best years you choke at the end. Iowa football has only been mediocre because every other program they’ve beaten is really bad right now.

Iowa will never accomplish what Ohio State, Michigan, or even what Wisconsin has in the last 20 years.

Most of us level headed fans realize that. Iowa is a developmental program and most likely will be. However , that being said, they send a ton of players to the next level and NFL teams have a high level of respect for Kirk Ferentz.
I’ve grown tired of KF’s approach and they need some new blood, but the next coach will be similar. Run the football, control the LOS, and play sound fundamental defense.

I agree with you 100% and have been saying something similar, that the $ keeps flowing in so the athletic department hasn’t had to care about on field results.

Ohh NO here we go again with what the Clarkeyes have ever accomplished.

Fccking Iowa has a first year OC and that guy has made changes and they are playing pretty good football..
They will beat the shvt out of Nebraska
He is far from a first year OC read his fkn resume. He hasn’t changed anything he is still running the same offense he is just doing a better job of scheming it.

Their fans are fat and happy because they’re meeting their definition of success: a bowl game. Any bowl game. Outback Bowl banners are the expectation, and KF gets that done.

Personally, an annual “appearance” in the whothehellcares.com bowl means nothing to me. Better to at least keep trying to reach a championship level and failing over and over again than to become fattened off mediocre definitions of success. The problem is, we’re so lowly right now that our program is like a declawed kitten trying to fight back against a yappy Yorkshire Terrier. Annoying and ultimately harmless though it might be, the Terrier can still bite. We can’t even do that much.
There’s been debate in the Iowa fanbase for years about whether it’s better to stick with the known quantity in KF or gamble and try for something better. No one is “satisfied” with an Outback Bowl appearance, but Iowa is limited by numerous factors- geography, population size, lack of blue blood history, presence of another D1 in-state school. There quite literally isn’t any way for Iowa to become an Alabama-style dynasty, so holding ourselves to that standard would be ridiculous. Nebraska is limited by some of the same factors Iowa is, but you also have your championship history on your side. It would be great to see Iowa, Nebraska, and Wisconsin all as perennial ranked matchups each year. Hopefully we all find the right coaches and players to get us there

He's a first year coordinator at fkn Iowa. Figure out the fkn context. Iowa was horrible on offense and the fkn first year coordinator AT IOWA figured it out. Unlike Satt. Instead of cussing at anyone you fkn disagree with. Learn what the fkn context of the post is.

Not sure I give a shit about the eternal 7-5 or 8-4 Kirk Ferentz football team.

They accept complete mediocrity and occasional Top 25 appearances.

We suck. But being Iowa suck is a whole other level of suck and cope.

Dude is in his 25th season as head coach, is 201-122 and has never won an outright B10 Championship and never even finished in the Top 10 of the polls at the end of any season.

There is suck, and then there is accepting 25 years of mediocre results at best and bragging about it suck.
I'd take their suck over our suck. We haven't been "good" for nearly 20 years it seems.

T

That is what so many silly people don't realize. Satterfield is here at the leisure of Matt Rhule, incredibly poor judge of coaching talent. We are doomed.
Look at other Rhule coaching tree coaches around . Rhule made some bad hires at Nebraska Rhule is not a bad judge of coaching talent.

Never going to happen for at least 2 more years after this.

C’mon man…Tell what I’ve said is wrong? I even gave a shout out that Iowa beats the teams they’re supposed to. Good on them.

I don’t care for Iowa but I haven’t gone to their board ever. Do you? Probably not.

What I’m saying is, jerks like these are so envious of our program and what they’ve accomplished over 60 years that they come here for one purpose: to start shit. So when we have bad years (which lately has been alot), it makes these jerks feel good about their pathetic lives.

If we go 0-6 and get boat raced by Iowa to end the season I'm thinking it's a pretty likely outcome there will be changes. This scenario is likely, can we all agree? Who are we gonna beat? Also, I'm not going to engage one iota with the "what has Iowa ever done?" debate this year. I'm looking at us, and we suck. That's all I care about.

Iowa has 5 conference Championship game appearances and won the Big Ten in 2002 and 2004.
Nebraska has not won a conference championship since 1999.

never even finished in the Top 10 of the polls at the end of any season.

Iowa finished #5 in 2015, #7 in 2010, #8 in 2004, #8 in 2003, #8 in 2002.

Since 2002, Nebraska's highest finish is #14 in 2009. Nebraska hasn't finished a season ranked since 2021.

Ummm... Nebraska hasn't achieved so much as a winning record in 8 years.

Clarkeyes split those conference championships and hasn’t won one outright since 1981..

Your math is bad Clarkeyes have been in only three conference championship games 0-3.

Always have to remind you idiots your biggest accomplishments were winning the Rose bowl in 1959 and winning the 2010 Orange bowl..
Now go run along and celebrate your bowl banners..
