Student section will not be full thats for sure ...crappy weather and on break there will be plenty of legroom in that part of the stadium

Is it bad that i feel bad for the Hawkeye football team? I mean my God, there 11-0 and still having troubles selling there games out? And sorry, blizzard us no excuse. I guarantee blizzard or no, the Huskers game would be sold out even if we where 3-7 and playing Wayne State.

Knowing that many Nebraska fans sold their tickets weeks ago.

My neighbors kids both go to UNL and said the majority of students won't come back to Lincoln in freezing weather to watch a game that at best allows the team to go 6 - 6. You can pretty well count out the student section.

I also know that hundreds if not thousands of Iowa fans bought tickets from Nebraska fans.

Curious if you think it will be at least 50% Hawks in the stands?
Put down the crack pipe dude!

I'm curious... Why is that something to brag about? You live in Nebraska....nothing much else to do than show up every Saturday and support a team that hasn't been relevant in the last decade. LOL congratulations sir!

It's called pride...

Even in this "irrelevant" decade, we have a record of 93-50, compared to your record of 84-54... No doubt you have had some good seasons sprinkled which has helped your record immensely. I thought this would teach you a thing or two about pride.

I guess not.

You might have to clarify because I moved awhile ago, but could you please explain the difference between the state of Nebraska and the state of Iowa? What is there to do in Iowa that pulled so many people away from watching your undefeated team? Did that many people go watch the Barnstormers play?

I could see 20 thousand at best. I would bet that there won't be more than 25 thousand.

Are you that confident that if you lose a game the Rose Bowl will pick a 1 loss Iowa team over a 1 loss Ohio State team? Interesting

I'm just saying that it is well documented that Iowa travels well and always has traveled well.........

Iowa does seem to travel pretty well to bowl games, and some away games. It's just funny that they don't sell out all of their home games being they do get decent fan support.

Says an Iowa fan... So much to do in Iowa.. I don't know why you guys even continue to talk. We are all now dumber for even reading it.

My guess is it will be around 15K or so in the stands. More than the last couple of years in Lincoln for sure. Could be more but depends on how many fair weather Neb fans there are and your students getting rid of tix.

As for Iowa's last game not selling out there were a lot of factors in that but still disappointing. Blizzard, students on break, bad Purdue team, early start, all factors though.

I will say it again, blizzard had nothing to do with leftover tickets. It affected attendance, sure. But 6 days before the game there were thousands of tickets still unsold. That's sad.

The major difference between the Iowa fanbase and Nebraska fanbase when turning out for games is 80% of Nebraska's fanbase lives within 45 mins of the stadium. The population (and fan base) of Iowa is much more widely spread across the state of Iowa. In fact many of the Hawkeye fans that will turn up in Lincoln Friday may not have even attended a game in kinnick this year. Lincoln is a much closer destination for western Iowa.

As far as Iowa not selling out games this season, Iowa had a sharp decline in season ticket sales, due to the lowered expectations and the grumbling about coaching that was going on all spring and summer, plus there was a very weak home slate of games (Illinois St, Pitt, North Texas, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Purdue).

Yea, I can't explain that either.......It's not like Kinnick is a huge stadium (70k). I go to several a year and it always seems to be full. However, since they are bleachers, it's hard to tell how packed in they really are. But, yes, Iowa fans can definitely be fickle. I think there were a number of fans who dropped their season tickets after several seasons of not being very good and that was a huge factor (it sucks if you ask me). I also think Iowa fans had gotten to the point that they were experiencing a little coach fatigue. Kirk has been there a long time now and there just wasn't much excitement leading up to this year, even with Beathard being named the starting QB when he was. To me, that's no excuse however. If you are a fan, you should support your team regardless, especially at home. That's one place I can NEVER argue with NU fans.......In the middle of a losing season or a few not so good seasons, Memorial Stadium is rocking no matter what. Memorial Stadium is the best home field advantage in college football and second place isn't even close........

Agreed. It is very weird because every place that I have lived.. San Diego, LA, Portland, Anchorage, Seattle, Houston, etc. there have been Iowa bars and watch-sites and i have noticed their fan travel. Odd anomaly.

I don't know what the population is of Iowa city, nor how close it is to Des Moines... Is it really that isolated from other big cities that people have to drive more than 45 minutes to get there?

Serious question, I just don't know...

False

Iowa City is roughly 70,000 people and Cedar Rapids is only about half hour with another 120,000 or so. But everywhere other 'big' city is at least an hour away. Des Moines is about an hour and a half. Compare that to Nebraska which even though a smaller state in terms of population the bulk of the states population lives in the Omaha/Lincoln corridor.

Omahahawkeyeguy made a pretty good point. Omaha is very close to Lincoln and I think that does make a difference. I know growing up in SW Iowa, I went to a number of Husker games because Iowa City was so much further away (I still went to many more Iowa games though)........Still though, Iowa should be able to sell out a 70k seat stadium once a week in the fall........

Omaha and the 6 county region around Omaha has over 900,000 people alone.........The populous is definitely more dense around Memorial Stadium than it is around Kinnick.......However, again, Iowa should be able to sell out a 70k seat stadium one a week in the fall.......

Best guess, 10K Hawkeye fans. I am paying more for my parking pass than I did my ticket.

10 to 15k sounds about right......It would for sure be many more but Nebraska doesn't let other schools take over their stadium, even at Thanksgiving break.......

Two years ago (I think) Lincoln was packed with Iowa fans but it did not seem like there were many in the stadium. I think there will be a lot of Iowa fans there on Friday. I do know a few that are not going because they don't like how Husker fans treat them.

Are they afraid that we will buy them too many beers? Wish them luck too many times?

Just further proof of Iowa fan delusions. We are so in their head it's comical. Show me another fan base that has complained how they were treated in our stadium...

Husker fans you do realize that this game is not a sellout. You can still buy single tickets on Huskers.com as of this morning

Uhhhhhhh, let's talk to the Colorado fans.......there's one. Go watch the Bill McCartney 30 for 30 and listen to those players.........

That is about as dumb as could be, there's tons that come from far west, Iowa, and many other states to see Nebraska each game. You talking with no knowledge is fairly hilarious.

How so? Piss balloons? Batteries? Oh, that was their fans.

I didn't say their fans were great (they have fans? hehehehe), I just said that NU isn't nice to every fan base........I have been to many NU games and have seen it with my own eyes........so, maybe you are selective with which fan bases you are nice to and which fan bases you act like tools to?
