Hoiskers return to the Vault against Rutgers as 9 favorite

Yeah, don’t like to say it, but the kid really hurt us at the end…
Constantly passes up 3’s as well. Tries to cover for it with a hustle or strength play inside here and there and can pass but that’s it. A guy under 6’5” that can’t shoot, or hit free throws in today’s game is a liability.

Just make Williams the 1. Not ideal but this ain’t working.
That’s kind of what Fred did last year, with Lawrence also running the point at times. He wasn’t a great player, but I miss Lawrence. He had enough speed and length to defend on the perimeter. When Sam and Ulis were in there tonight, Rutgers shot right over them. And they blew past everyone else.

Rutgers got the edge from the refs tonight too..Conner should’ve shot free throws, they missed 2 travels on Bailey, one was a 3 for him. He should’ve got 4 fouls and would’ve come out of the game right then and there. All huge for Rutgers and they barely won.

Needed to beat Iowa on the road and win this game. Instead we lost both and don’t have margin for error anymore. We need to run the table at home and find a way to get 2 or more road wins

They barely won because they are a poor team. Nebraska should not have lost this game but hey we went cold late in the game.

I would love for Worster to play fewer minutes.

Until he sits. Then I’m reminded that the other options are dreadful.

I really wanted Worster’s Utah running mate, Deivon Smith. He’s an actual PG.

We really miss him. Could guard and shoot.

We shot 13 more free throws tonight

Refs didn’t give up 85 at home tonight, bud

Our defensive metrics have proven to be utterly fraudulent & our pathetic non-con schedule will once more do us no favors

8.5 point favorite

Terrible loss

Our cowardly non con really cuts into the margin for error

Outside looking in now but a long way to go
Come on, they went to cowardly non con so they could rack up Ws. At least we win those games now. But what do you want, go to the Maui Invitational or Battle for Atlantis?

Only idiots don’t understand how metrics work in cbb

Count Meek Fred among them

Racking up meaningless wins over nobody doesnt mean shit. It’s not 2004

He’s a very limited athlete. Kind of gets old watching him drive knowing he won’t be attempting a bucket.

Needs to learn how to hit the floater. He always goes too deep and it’s either a late kick out or a turnover. If you’re not a finisher at the rim you gotta be able to hit the floater or find the kick out pass in rhythm. He does neither and takes it under the rim…

It’s not about metrics it’s about getting confidence and getting a few weeks to figure out new roster. Look at Creighton they played one of the toughest non conference schedules and got tagged with several losses and they won’t make the tourney because of it. Huskers have easy path only need to go 10-10 in big ten play and they’ll be in easy

Creighton will be above NU in every single ranking that matters tomorrow

We’re 2-4 now. That means 8-6 balance of season.

“Easy”.

As far as I’m concerned Worster has cost us 2 of the last 3. Yeah, plenty of blame to go around but he’s killing us.

Problem is who else ya got? Ulis? Hoiberg? Make a Brice play point again? Rollie is going to have to step it up. He doesn’t have to score 20, he has has to find ways to convert on his drives. His type of game (offensively) needs a solid mid range game and right now he just doesn’t have it.

I’d like Hoiberg to eat more of his minutes right now. He’s not looking much better than Ulis either. Just let him know he needs to WORK to keep playing. Sam can do everything Rollie can do and more, aside from maybe 3 rebounds per game.

Bailey for Rutgers is going to be special. Harper is good but it will be harder for him to translate to the next level.

This always doubling in the post needs to stop. Teams have figured it out and we’re getting murdered on it .

Our perimeter defense has been terrible and doubling the post has been a big part of it. We have a 7 footer and two 6’10” guys, do we really need to double the post so much? What’s the point of having all those big men if we still need 2 of them to cover 1 of their post players? IDK…

Rollie protects the ball and initiates the offense better than Sam. Rollie can also post up and drive on certain defenders/teams. Sam’s a better shooter and defender, but Rollie is a better PG all around. Unfortunately he’s the best we have, he’s gonna have to step it up and elevate his game.

One guy’s +\- tonight was -14 and the other’s was +14.

Take a wild guess which was which.

I’ve been saying this since the Creighton game at least. The Jays missed a TON of open 3’s against us because they’re the worst they’ve been in over a decade. Could see it against St. Mary’s too.

Easy… Rollie is +14. He’s the better PG, he just needs find other ways to convert on his drives. Certain teams in the B1Gare going to be too big and athletic to take all the way to the rim. (especially when you’re Rollie Woster) I know I sound like a broken record… but if you aren’t a good 3 pt shooter and you’re not a dominant finisher at the rim then you better develop a mid range game.

A lot of the doubling comes when NU switches into a mismatch. That’s one of the reasons I wish Fred would mix in some zone more often - so the other team can’t just walk NU right into a mismatch with a simple ball screen.
