Hoiskers travel to Eugene to take on Altman’s Ducks as +6.5 dog

Listening to these guys breaking down how many close losses we've had is brutal.

Win 5 of the last 9, and we'll be in the Big Dance.

With 5 home games left and no more ranked teams on the schedule, that should be a realistic expectation. Michigan and Maryland could be ranked by then but we get them at home.

Looking at upcoming schedule, counting the last 2 wins there is a solid chance we follow up the 6 game losing streak with 9 straight wins. All the talk a week ago of it’s time to move on from Fred is in the garbage. More like he is earning another contract extension and a raise.

Hoiberg is under contract through 2029, at nearly $5 mil per year. What on God's green Earth would NU stand to gain by giving him another contract extension?

I'm enjoying this epic 2-game winning streak as much as anyone, but please pump the brakes.

Good win. Man this team makes me scratch my head. This season hopefully doesn't turn into another what could have been on 6 questionable losses

He got an extension after last season, why wouldn’t he get one this year for making the tourney?

I'll ask again - what would NU stand to gain by extending Hoiberg past 2029?
Showing him commitment. As he gets more and more wins others will begin to look and say hey his guy wins at Nebraska think what he could do here. Fred is going to be getting calls and it’s best to keep him in a long term agreement.

Who is Fred going to get better offers from, if Nebraska has the audacity to only lock him up for four seasons at a time?

"Showing him commitment" is what Fred's agent would say about another contract extension. It still doesn't answer the question about why an extension past 2029 is in NU's best interest.

Never say never I guess but not really seeing Fred leaving for a much higher pressure gig. IMO, he’s still adapting to what the game has become, has a pretty solid X’s & O’s base, just needs to reel in a couple top shelf players every year to carry out the vision. Of course easier said than done . Not sure the customary extension is needed every year in the age of the portal.
