Hearing Jacobson will transfer

My mistake. It was that other coaching genius Charlie Marlow that said that. I'm sure that there are lots of coaches that want an energy guy like Ed available off the bench to give them some fouls and rebounds.

My suggestion that Morrow was the most important player coming back was a lot more defensible than most of your blabber these last few weeks. Considering the number of times that you have been proven wrong, you really need to start providing links to back up your proclamations other than 'friend from Creighton.' Considering your (and his) track record, that just doesn't cut it anymore.

I mean everybody has been saying this for a while. Would it really be shocking at this point?
Sorry but I'm not buying this just because a member of the big meanie lynch mob posts it on an anonymous message board. As we speak, I'm trying to confirm it with a guy in Belle Fourche whose cousin's dentist's plumber went to elementary school with Tim Miles. If he says Jake is staying, you can take it to the bank.

As a member of that mob, im.trying to confirm.

Exactly when have I been "proven" wrong? NO you said Ed was "the BEST player" not the most important player and hell he wouldn't have been the most important player either.

Another crap season just ended. SE reconfirmed that Miles is staying. We are losing 3 transfers (including our best player)

At this point Miles should be a stand-up guy and just resign. People often said Pelini was stealing money from the University. Pelini was far superior to Miles as a coach.

I don't disagree with your sentiment. Ed's surprise exit left us in a bind to try to find a replacement this late in the game. Hopefully we can find a big bodied Juco guy that can give us some minutes at the 5. BTW, the Winthrop center is bigger than Ed and only averaged 14 minutes for them. He's a defensive specialist and his points and rebounds IF projected to the number of minutes Ed played would be similar to Ed's. He shot 61% from the field but I see you chose to omit that fact. I hope we land him. We need him.
Yeah, maybe his numbers would be MUCH better had he not averaged a foul ever five minutes of play. Of course, if Ed had played in the Big South I'm sure his numbers would be a lot better.

Wow, college basketball. Your best players are one and done. Your marginal players bounce around schools like pinballs. I'd be rather concerned about the number of overall fans you have who will find it increasingly difficult to care since continuity is at an all time low.

A leader on a terrible team...

A role player on an average team...

A back-up on a great team...

Which is the right answer? For Ed, for Jacobson, for any athlete, for your nephew? The answer seems to be different now than it was not all that long ago.

Good to see Miles getting rid of all the malcontents.
Addition by subtraction.
Don't let the door...
We need players who play for what's on the front, not the back.
Those guys sucked anyway.

amirite?

Until next winter, if the Huskers are south of .500 again.

Then the sudden departure of these key contributors will be the reason Tweetin' Timmy deserves another year.

Those are all nice sounding cliches but even I have to admit that IF Jacobsen leaves something went terribly wrong about the time (IMO) that Fuller got all of those minutes at the end of the year. I posted when we had those really ugly games to end the year that the team was mailing it in. I'm concerned that "something" happened to cause the departures. Horne didn't surprise me and frankly I hated to lose him as much or more than Ed but Ed leaving makes no sense unless something happened. He can't be that delusional about his NBA prospects.

So if Jacobson leaves, that means Morrow's not a me-first prima donna who quit on his teammates?

Not so fast. Some in the fanbase are already absolving Miles of blame if Jacobson leaves as they say Jacobson is upset Miless won't let him shoot threes. Laughing....it's amazing what some will come up with despite one common denominator being Tim Miles. I guess since he's funny, some have trouble blaming him for HIS program's failures and constant turmoil.

True - I have it on rock-solid authority that Jacobson can knock down the occasional three.*

*DISCLAIMER: "Occasional three" means one made per month at a 17% clip. Future results, however, will be much, much, much, much better because Jake's just been pressing, or nervous, or something like that.

I NEVER once called Morrow a me-first prima donna. Just keep making crap up. He did in fact quit on his teammates. I don't know what else you call it. He quit the team. He isn't going elsewhere for anybody else other than himself and I haven't criticized him for that other than to point out that he's delusional if he thinks he he's going to play in the NBA unless he miraculously learns to shoot from outside of 5 feet and dribble without turning the ball over.

So if Morrow leaves he quit on his teammates, but if Jacobson leaves something must have gone terribly wrong. Got it.

Nope. Jacobsen will have quit on his teammates. If Dingle has ANY interest in not being a hypocrite, this is his only possible response

The problem is that according to what he said, Ed doesn't like the role he's suited to fill. He wants to be a wing scorer and he can't shoot or dribble without turning the ball over. I don't know who puts some of the ideas in to these kids' heads. A friend of mine that has been around the Creighton program said that Mac routinely tells his kids that this job is "to get you ready for the NBA". It's interesting that Ed used similar words when discussing his reasons for transferring. We (the schools) are doing a terrible disservice to most of these kids by selling them that line of BS.

I have no inside knowledge, but I do not believe that whole story that Ed Morrow wants to play the wing. I do think that Ed hasn't expanded his game since he came to Lincoln and I'm sure he wants to do that. So the truth is probably somewhere in between. I think Ed wants to show more development and wants to play in an offense where he will get to do more than set ball screens, inbound the ball after made shots and, if he wants more touches get offensive rebounds. I think Ed would be really good off the block or from around the elbow making one quick move to the hoop, but that's just not going to happen for him at NU. That said, I could see Ed going to a Top 20 program and still playing the same role as he did in Lincoln.

Are you sure Jacobson is transferring? Because that rumor is threatening to wreck a very robust bromance triangle.

IF he leaves no Jacobsen quit his team as well. That is just a fact. Whether that is right or wrong I'm not judging.

Pretty sure dingle is trolling at this point. Only explanation.
Nope. Just don't like internet lynch mobs. Just like I dislike the nameless experts that jump all over Erstad the minute we lose a couple of baseball games in a row.

Pretty much accurate I think. I just think Ed is going to be disappointed and in the meantime he blows a year of his life by transferring. He needs to get his degree and get a job because I really doubt an NBA career is a realistic possibility from what I've seen.

Question for Tim:
what-would-you-say-you-do-here.jpg

Miles getting out-recruited by Missouri Valley schools now. Going to be hard to fill all these scholarships with quality players.

I would say that our most recent transfers quit on Tim Miles, not their teammates. Can't say that I blame them.

It may just be a rumor, but I heard there is a much bigger story about Tim Miles about to hit. And it would explain why everyone is jumping ship.

It is kind of strange that Eichorst said he was going to meet with the media last week to discuss the program, but he never did, and has not said anything since. Makes you wonder what's going on.

He didn't say he would meet with the media last week, he said he would have further comment after the final four. That doesn't automatically mean the day or week after the final four.

I believe Miles was caught off guard by Morrow's departure. So I suspect that Eichorst is giving Miles time to get the house in order and ensure there aren't additional surprises before he (Eichorst) comes out with any further public comment.
