in America. I wonder how the lawsuits filed against them by athletes are going to be settled. I guess the Manning STORY is over. Manning was quoted today "I am sure that's just devastating to all their viewers"

Read that on their site this AM, kind of surprises me to be honest. I liked reading their stuff, they focus on global stuff way more than American channels. Boko Haram (sp?) for instance, they usually had a story or two reminding viewers and readers alike they are still out there causing issues. Oh well, so it goes.

News without a strong ideological bent cannot financially exist on the American landscape at the present time.

Now they are free to be stooges for the radicals in the world -again.

Ask Rolling Stone mag and the BS rape story they ran.
First, are there lawsuits that prevailed in the Rolling Stone case?
Second, what does this have to do with Al Jazeera and athletes? Are there huge factual inaccuracies willingly made by reporters in the Manning story?

It's entertaining to see how incapable some people are of digesting a news source from another country. I know, how dare they run something other than, "Oh my God did you see what (political party did)?!? Those guys are the WORST right? Now over to you, Tammi, with a story on what some idiot celebrities named their baby."

But that's what it is for some people. If you don't report in strict accordance with THEIR bias, then you must be a propaganda machine for the enemy.

Facts are useless against it. Perhaps you missed the previous thread about how AJ is the devil and (probably...maybe...definitely) runs nothing but a loop of American military casualties 24/7 and not only do they run it, they run it over a bed of that song "Everything is Awesome" while their anchors dance on a little picture-in-picture box in the corner.

Here's my favorite line in that article

There was an exodus of top executives, along with a pair of lawsuits from former employees that included complaints about sexism and anti-Semitism at the news channel.

LMAO. Employees are suing Al Jazeera over anti-Semitism claims? Al Jazeera. WTF would you expect?

What's next, nfl wideouts suing the league because the league tends to hire really fast athletes to fill that position?

America is top's when it comes to stupid lawsuits, nobody can match what some of our wonderful citizens sue people and business's for.

Have any lawsuit actually been filed over that story?
Only the dean of the U of V and the fraternity they are suing for $25 mil

From my couch, it appears that Al Jazeera either didn't understand or fully appreciate our libel/slander laws. I assume the America operation was operating at a loss and the threat of lawsuits caused them to just pack their bags.

I think oil going for $30 a barrel has more to do with it.

You might be onto something.

And Al Jazeera America has not been free of controversy in recent months. In November, the news station’s general counsel, David W. Harleston, was suspended following a report in The New York Times that he did not appear to be licensed to practice law. Among the varied legal work Mr. Harleston had done for Al Jazeera America was his involvement in wrongful termination lawsuits brought by former employees. Legal experts have cautioned that Mr. Harleston’s lack of a law license could potentially leave the network vulnerable in those lawsuits, primarily over issues of confidentiality.

On Dec. 27, Al Jazeera America aired an hourlong documentary that linked some of the biggest stars in Major League Baseball and the National Football League to performance-enhancing drugs. The most prominent athlete mentioned was the Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, who angrily denied the report, calling it “complete garbage” and “totally made up.” The baseball players Ryan Howard and Ryan Zimmerman have filed defamation suits against the network.

When lawsuits are won rather than filed get back to us. It happens all the time to all networks.

Saw that they were only getting 20,000-30,000 viewers in prime time. That is an astonishingly small number in this day and age. Who would advertise with those numbers? Apparently no one. I actually never watched it once. Too many other choices- most of which have a sport involved.

Sometimes we would fall asleep to it back when the DTV receiver was in the bedroom but I can't honestly say I watch that or any news at home.

I'm just telling you there is at least one possible reason for why she might have received it. But if that was it entirely (ie, Peyton didn't use it), then they were a little careless. Instead of receiving it at home, have the Mrs get it administered at the doctors office. Maybe they just trusted the HIPAA laws.

If I had to bet whether Peyton had some of that HGH, I would bet yes.
Would I choose to bet my journalism career and risk a lawsuit with the evidence Al Jazeera had? No.

So you guys really believe the hgh peytons wife was receiving was actually for her?

Nope. I actually believed the story, and in all honesty, I couldn't possibly care less. 4 neck surgeries and the time he missed gives him a pass in my book if he did this. I also don't think it was even illegal at the time. I know they weren't testing for it, I also believe with all my heart that most of the guys trying to tear his head off are on the juice of some sort as well.

I think oil going for $30 a barrel has more to do with it.
This. They are denying it but it appears to be the start of more to come. You think these are globaly volatile times....wait until some oil producing countries start missing their $60-$100 crude.
