Update:
Full game story below as Huskers stage a second straight ninth-inning rally over College of Charleston. That's five wins in the last six for the Huskers (6-3) who have handed the Cougars (7-2) their first two losses of the year.
=================================
First pitch is not until 5:00 p.m. CT but I'm getting today's live baseball thread started a little early.
Game 2: Nebraska (5-3) vs. College of Charleston (7-1)
Watch: FloBaseball
Listen: Huskers Radio Network and 93.9 The Zone
Notes:
>> Game 2 was canceled due to weather, though, so this will technically be Game 2 in the now-three game road series for the Huskers.
>> Also, the original Game 3 pitching matchup was set to be Nebraska LHP Will Walsh vs. Charleston RHP Aidan Hunter, but I would safely assume Friday's Game 2 starters will be pushed into today's slots:
>> Nebraska RHP Brett Sears (1-0, 0.79 ERA) vs. Charleston RHP Jake Brink (2-0, 0.75 ERA)
Huskers have been on a roll in the win column after taking 4 of its last 5 including handing CofC its first loss of the year in Game 1 on Thursday. Nebraska rallied to a 6-5 win in 10 innings in Game 1 of the four-game road series by using the small-ball offensive style that'll be its calling card all year.
Huskers didn't have a hit after the 1st inning and had just four total baserunners from innings 2-8 but plated four runs in the 9th on two singles, two walks, a hit batsman and reaching on an error. Then, a double, sac bunt and RBI FC on a grounder to third scored the eventual game-winning run.
We gonna see more of the same small-ball style today?
