Explain to kids misdemeanors vs felonies? Um, ok, but not sure you really understand that your suggestion is full of holes. Do you realize most jurisdictions have several degrees of both felonies and misdemeanors — and those definitions differ widely across the US? Furthermore some misdemeanors may have worse long term consequences than some felonies. For example, misdemeanors involving dishonesty can bite you in the rear the rest of your life. Likewise misdemeanor drug convictions can disqualify people from many career options.
So if you want to try out your suggestion on kids in your life, knock yourself out. But teaching basic principles of right and wrong will probably be more productive.
I can explain how a misdemeanor can be just as bad as a felony. For example, in California a conviction for misdemeanor sexual battery (The stuff Trump bragged about on the Access Hollywood tape was at least misdemeanor sexual battery according to the California penal code) means lifetime registration as a sex offender.Go on... Explain how a misdemeanor can be worse than a felony. I am particularly interested in that.

A thirst degree sale of marijuana is a class E felony.
A class A misdemeanor such as assault resulting in bodily harm or a DUI Seem worse than that.
It can be exhausting but sometimes sports is a good forum to teach kids what not to do and don't believe everything the media reports.
Never had a speeding ticket? In my state that's a class of misdemeanor.Never had a felony or misdemeanor. Have been handcuffed once but let go. That was kinda fun.
I've had a speeding ticket but I don't think those count as misdemeanor in Kansas.Never had a speeding ticket? In my state that's a class of misdemeanor.
then I was a bad little boy 10 years ago. Most moving violations in Kansas are considered misdemeanors!
Not true. California misdemeanor sexual battery consisting of unwanted touching of another with sexual intent and no enhancements (like holding the person down or while another holds the person down) "can" require Tier 1 sex offender registration, which is for 10 years. I have never heard of someone having to register at Tier 1 for grabbing somebody.I can explain how a misdemeanor can be just as bad as a felony. OK, in discussing this with one of my friends, the thought is that she may have tried to reapproach M. Washington a few years after the video was recorded, and reconnect...and being pissed at her...instead of just saying "Go make another porn video, hoe, and get lost," which would have been acceptable in my book, he still had that stupid video on his phone for some reason, and sent it instead with the caption "remember this, hoe?" to tell her to get lost.
It still doesn't excuse him from sending the video, nor dues it excuse him for still having the video on his phone, but if indeed this is how things went down, I'm more understanding of him being angry at her and telling her to get lost. He just made a huge mistake of sending that video while doing so, which may end up costing him big time.
So, that pretty much covers three generations of felony charges education for Nebraska fans with Johnny, Lawrence and Mo.It can be exhausting but sometimes sports is a good forum to teach kids what not to do and don't believe everything the media reports.
Maurice was 17 at the time of the incident. He was a minor. Doubt he gets into any serious problems.
This is the scenario I brought up earlier today in the other thread. It seems to have gotten looked over and repeated after I made that scenario up. All I was doing was saying there is a lot of possibilities that he isn't the world most terrible person like some people initially thought.OK, in discussing this with one of my friends, the thought is that she may have tried to reapproach M. just saw thatHe was born in December 1999. Incident happened March 2018.
Play stupid games, earn stupid prizes.OK now that I have read all of this brilliant thread, I have one question: Is stupidity a felony or a misdemeanor?

One other thing I keep seeing brought up is sexual assault? In my opinion with the "one" fact we do know, all 3 participants were kicked out of school. I think it is safe to say there was no sexual assault done... unless schools are treating rape victoms like the predators now? I guess I didn't know sexual assault victoms get kicked out of school?
^^^ With that information, it leads down the path of it being consensual. Which in turn was probably really hard for Maurice Washington to watch his girlfriend/ex-girlfriend enjoying sexual acts with two other dudes.
The only thing I can see him getting in trouble for is still having the video, but even then if he never sent that video to another soul other then to Taylor to be the reason he would never see her again. I see no harm in it at all. If he did send it out to others to shame the girl, then for sure he needs to get a hell of a lot more then a slap on the wrist.
I could go on and on, but the moral of my story is. Stop ****ing judging the dude until he is charged!
- Could it have been handled better = Yes
- Should he be charged with a felony = Maybe
- Could this girl just be pissed at Mo W. = Maybe
- Is Maurice Washington guilty = Maybe
So not jumping to automatically chastise Mo Washington makes people stupid? Wanting to know all the facts before ruining a kids life make people stupid? It's called Due Process and it is the Law. I think calling out "stupidity" as your argument is the only "stupid" part of this thread. Come back with proof that Mo is guilty with facts or get out of here with your weak posts!OK now that I have read all of this brilliant thread, I have one question: Is stupidity a felony or a misdemeanor?
He has been charged. Still think we need to slow our roll on condemning him though.
Agreed. He has been charged. Still think we need to slow our roll on condemning him though.
I think SC didn't say convicted, but only said charged?http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...shington-charged-video-alleged-sexual-assault
Nebraska running back Maurice Washington has been charged in California with two crimes, including felony possession of child pornography, for allegedly sending a video over text message to his former girlfriend of what she says was her being sexually assaulted.
Charged and convicted are two different things, not sure you know that or not? I am not sure what more I can say other than Innocent until proven guilty. If he is guilty then have at it.
I think you are mistakingly thinking I am 100% for Maurice Washington here. That isn't the case at all, I just am the type of person that will not cast judgment until I have all the facts. So don't waste your breath coming back at me if he is guilty, because if he is "guilty" he deserves what is coming to him.
Correct... I think you need to slow your roll until he is "convicted"I think SC didn't say convicted, but only said charged?
Ok, so what are you looking for here?Correct... I think you need to slow your roll until he is "convicted"
Make sense, or do I need to repeat myself for the 4th time?
I guess the question here is why did SC quote my post? You are right I think he was agreeing with what I said, because he ended his post with a "." and not a "?"Ok, so what are you looking for here?
I think SC was just being honest... "innocent until proven guilty" is our due process; even if the public court of opinion says otherwise.I guess the question here is why did SC quote my post? You are right I think he was agreeing with what I said, because he ended his post with a "." and not a "?"
It just looked like he was sarcastically saying "Still think we need to slow our roll on condemning him though" because he was quoting my post
Sorry... It is all makes sense now. You posted this right as I was responding to Soda. So I didn't put 2 and 2 together. I changed my original thread to be a little more clear. He has been charged. Still think we need to slow our roll on condemning him though.
