Dan Mullen to UNLV

You answered your own question.

If you’re unwilling to accept that, then you’re asking for impossible evidence.

Mullen took over a 4 win bottom feeder in the toughest conference in CFB and had them at 9 wins by year 2.

Rhule took over a 4 win Nebraska team and still has a losing record by year 2.
You and @king_kong_ are both conveniently forgetting the 6 win regular seasons in year 3 and 5 and the 5 win regular season in year 8. So does that not count? If Rhule wins 9 in 2025 and the. 6 in 2026, he will be fired, not praised as some excellent coach. Is 6 wins an accomplishment or not? Does turning a program around mean having five 7 or less win regular seasons and five 8 or more win seasons over 9 years? Sneaking into a bowl game in year 8 with a 5-7 record.

As I have stated. He is a fine coach but he ended up being fired at Florida the only real pressure filled job he has had. Then he sat idle for a few years waiting for the highly coveted UNLV job to open up.

The question was is he better than Rhule, not if he’s better than Urban Meyer.

5-7, 6-6 seasons certainly don’t disqualify him from that - more than half of the years coached by Rhule result in those records or worse.

I say yes just based on his time in Starkville.

6-6 is a great season for Rhule, who has produced 1 single 8+ win power conference season in his entire career.

No, the question was would Mullen have a better record right now at Nebraska than Rhule does currently. Would he have turned this program around faster?

Yes.

As evidenced by his first 2 years at every stop being better than Rhule’s first 2 years anywhere.

Now you’ll do your “b-b-but the context and Baylor sanctions” routine and cry that the question wasn’t answered.

Then why the absurd 2026 hypothetical?

By the way, no chance 6 wins does Rhule in after ‘26 if he wins 9 next year.

Literally no chance.

I obviously agree with the above that the evidence clearly favors “yes”, especially considering some of the cupcakes we’ve lost to the past 2 seasons.
