Could a 6-6 team be ranked in the top 25?

Pray tell when is that going to happen? I've heard the same broken record since Tom retired.
Just like how we heard from Hogeye fans we would not match up well with the Hogeyes when we joined the conference. 3-1 record later...and it still hasn't shut up the mouth breathers.
After Black Friday we look forward to seeing Coach Miles on the BB court and then Erstad later on the ball diamond.
I have every expectation that Iowa is ranked in the top 5 next year at the start of the FB season we are young and loaded.
Just saying.
Losing upwards of 9 starters...wouldn't exactly call you young. Or loaded for that matter. Enjoy that preseason ranking though...

The full back Plewa is not considered a starter we do not run a full back every set. King is not leaving early and you are correct on Hillyer. Looking at the two deeps we're even younger than I thought.

I don't think anyone said Nebraska wasn't the weaker team. We absolutely have a ton of problems - have lost some awful games. We're not good. Hence the reason that anyone who thinks Nebraska is "over rated" is not living in reality. We're rated lowly because we're bad. If anyone is "over rated" (ie. rated higher than they should be) it'd be Iowa since they're most likely not a top 10 team.
If Iowa is undefeated headed into Black Friday, even an L to Nebraska far from ends Rose Bowl hopes.

Did you not think Iowa fans would bring this stuff up? Even though no charges have been filed. Just the same as Nebraska fans (some of them) would do the same if it were Iowa in this position. Any team that has something like this happen will get hammered on.
Best way to prevent it is to have players smart enough to keep away from these situations. But being college kids, that will never happen.
As far as the original thread goes...NO Nebraska should not be ranked as a 6-6 team. Finish out 7-6 and maybe get some mention going into next season. But you have to earn a top 25 ranking. Losing to Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, a bad Miami team and what has turned out to be a bad BYU team does not deserve a top 25 ranking.
In regards to Nebraska not being relevant since 95'....(is that post 12 or is he just football retarded?). Nebraska has had 6 seasons where they DID NOT finish the season in one of the 2 polls (AP or Coaches) were Iowa has had 6 season where they DID finish the season in either the AP or Coaches poll. This is like arguing with the handicapped guy down the street (not to insult the intelligence of handicapped people). In this same time frame, Nebraska has played for 2 national championships (sharing one with Michigan), Nebraska has had 9, 10 win or more seasons where Iowa has had 5, 10 win or more seasons (including this year). Nebraska has played in 6 CCG's where Iowa has shared 2 conference titles that did not have a conference championship game. Nebraska has 5 top 10 finishes to Iowa's 4. Shows much relevance on the national scene. I would put money on if Nebraska was 10-0 right now, they would be in the top 4 already. Go to bed little brother.

This may be the silliest thing I have ever seen on this board. No voter outside the state of Nebraska is going to vote the Huskers into the Top 25. You guys living in Nebraska need to talk to your friends outside the state. Nebraska football doesn't have the same reputation as it once had. I am always getting questions like "What happen to your team? Nebraska use to be good". My response to them is "That's what happens when we hire a Pac 12 coach"

Amazes me that you give no time at all to this "Pac 12" coach who could very well finish stronger than any year Bo was at the helm here. 2 wins against undefeated top 10 opponents in the final three games to finish out the regular season?
Granted, it hasn't happened yet, and it very easily might not happen. But to continuously throw him under the bus like you do says a lot about how you have already made up your mind about Riley.
I hope we beat Iowa. I am traveling about 1600 miles to see the game. Do I think Riley will still be an average coach if we beat Iowa? Yes.
so what needs to happen for you to change your tune? Has an under .500 team ever finished this strong in ncaa history (assuming we beat Iowa again...)?
I heard that no team has ever finished with a .500 record or below and also beaten 2 undefeated top 10 teams. For me, the fact that it occurs towards the end of the season where momentum builds into next year is huge. Does Riley need to win a conference championship before you change your mind?

Tim, I hope you are right. I hope the Huskers win every game they play. I don't know about you but I get very tired of Nebraska being discussed in the past tense

I agree, it sucks. But my personality is such that I put the best construction on things as much as possible. To me there are a lot of compelling arguments to be made for Riley being a good coach. I believe location and tradition is a big deal. I think his recruiting is only gonna get better.
But I also know that it can easily be said that his entire career says he's an average coach.
Given my personality, I naturally gravitate to what might be. I may end up disappointed down the road but it makes the ride more bearable, believing that we can get there with Riley.
You will have to forgive me, as I haven t followed the Huskers season closely. I was under the impression you guys have had a number of close losses this season. If so, you guys already have a nice starting point for next season depending on attrition. Beating MSU was a notch I wish we had gotten.

You are right. The biggest divide is the hirin of Riley as the coach. Some don't understand the hire and only see him as an average coach (per his career .500 record). This season just proves their point.
Others look at the potential he had shown at a non football school and have high hopes. The way this season is ending is pretty exciting, if we can finish it off.
No one really knows what the reality will be for another couple of years I guess. It sure would be nice to be thought of as a big dog in the conference once again...

I would rather play Michigan than tOSU. Something about that '97 season that has always made me want to Beat Blue more than Bucky. I loved the 2005 season bowl game and am more fond of that than the Martinez comeback against Bucky for those reasons quality be damned. BEAT BLUE, GBR
The B1G scheduling is absolutely stupid, along with the way the divisions are ranked when some teams have much easier schedules than others, those that have the tougher cross division schedules are penalized. Still prefer watching the speed and excitement of the Big 12. When I saw the OU Baylor game, it looked much different than what we see in our conference. So from an entertainment standpoint, I like watching that style of play better.
