Chubba in the portal

Neither. Not looking forward to watching Haarberg throw behind and over our receivers next fall after Raiola gets hurt in fall camp. We have to find a portal QB with some experience who can complete a pass. ☹️

Why would a QB enter the transfer portal to go be the backup to a true freshman? A QB will usually only transfer if he knows he can be the starter somewhere else.

I am confident rhule did the right thing and purdy was one of the players he told would never play.

I dont think purdy is a quitter. I think he is honest about his performance and capabilities.
Yep. "We're looking to bring in another portal QB and there will be an open QB competition".

No. But man the idea of having to run out Haarberg or Kaelin in the advent of an injury sure looks like another 5 win season to me.
And the idea of running chubba in there in the advent of an injury sure looks like regressing to another 4 win season if you ask anyone not blinded by bias.

Chubba has proven literally nothing that would have evidence that he could actually win games.

Purdy is absolutely a quitter

Can’t even man up and face the media after throwing the worst INT in the last decade

This is the 2nd time he’s quit

FSU went straight up after the first time. Just sayin

I was just poking fun at "He wouldn't have been a quitter if he had stayed." That's a "if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle" statement if I've ever heard one. I'm gonna stop arguing with you about Chubba. He's gone. Rhule just signed two Elite 11 guys including the top QB in the class. Let's take a breath and not assume we won't have a serviceable backup next season.
3 scholarship QBs with 2 true freshmen and Haarberg is a disaster waiting to happen. We need to find an experienced QB in the portal who can complete a forward pass. Raiola is going to take some lumps. Let’s just pray he stays healthy. People are going to blitz the hell out of him.

We are currently better than we were yesterday.

I bet we get even better soon.

Until he hits Malachi Coleman in stride for a TD, then the D will think twice…what’s this, the run game comes alive, holy crap we have an offense again…

Raiola is a big kid. And I'm guessing we will all be shocked at what a real passing qb looks like. Lloyd takes a few passes to the house and the pressure will likely let up some.

Gotta have enough time to get the pass off and Coleman has to run the route correctly…..something he’s failed to do that cost us an INT.

So other than NOT flip Raiola, what could anyone have done to get Purdy to stay?

You act like there was a referendum and people here voted him out of the program.

Everyone is basically in the portal after every season. They evaluate why they would stay at their current school. Why would Purdy stay? To try and be the top backup?
Sure. Our backups have been starting a third or more of our games it seems since Zac Taylor.

LMFAO. The hypocrisy in here is thick AF. So are some of yous heads.
"They're just kids though. How DARE YOU"
"He quit, good riddance"

Hopefully you’re right. We need another QB who can pass that has some experience.
Experience isnt always important just because.

Take for example purdy. His only experience is giving the ball to the other team and losing.

While good experience would be ideal, I would rather get someone with no experience than poor experience.

If they do it will be to their detriment. They won't be able to put 9 or even 8 on the box anymore dingle. Raoila would have taken this team bowling last season. Probably win 8 with him. While he's 17.

I'm figuring if Nebraska scores 30/game, we are winning 10 with our defense.

He had some damned nice drives against pretty good defenses that showed he could run the offense. He had no more turnovers than Haarberg did against crappy defenses. One would hope he could reduce the turnovers with more reps. I guess I’ll hope Haarberg can transform himself from an awful passer to merely below average in the off season☹️

Northwestern > Wisconsin

Sorry for your loss, fritzy
NW had just beaten Howard by 3 on their home field, but you keep spewing that Kongtext. HH might as well have beat Howard in that game. Everyone in the building knows NW got 10 times better as their season went on except you, like usual. All because of your gay ass Heinrich Hard-on.

No. I just think it’s foolish to cheer his departure. There’s nothing short of a fat check that probably could have kept him here.
Nobody is celebrating his departure. They are laughing at your reaction which is over the top. Rhule is still in rebuild mode and if Raoila comes out of those first 7 games sharpened the sky is the limit the next 2 seasons.

Most aren't shocked by this. Doesn't mean we like it. But he didn't realistically stand a chance competing for the job and bounced.

As maybe over the top as I am in my disappointment about Purdy’s departure, your optimism about Raiola’s success as a true freshman is even more illogical. I hope to be proven wrong AND I hope to hell he doesn’t get hurt.

I had hoped so too after the previous season.

But alas, after being in college football for four years and literally thousands of reps with mutiple coaches at two programs, purdy just didnt get any better.

He needs to drop down to a lesser conference or level, which is fine. Its still a very high level of football.

My optimism isn't over the top. Raoila will turn the ball over. Not anywhere compared to what we have been. DR is smart with the ball and takes care of the ball. That's all we really need to win 7 next season. His talent will get us to 9 or 10.

Purdy didn’t turn the ball over in high school either. Just sayin. Raiola wasn’t facing P5 defenses and their DCs. He’s going to have some serious growing pains. Somehow MN is getting 2 somewhat experienced transfer QBs.

Northwestern beat Wisconsin in Madison

If you don’t think that counts, that’s fine

I have no idea whether Raiola will be successful as a freshman or not, but he was going to start whether or not any of the other QBs left. You didn’t seriously think he was going to split time with Chubba Purdy, did you?

Hmmm, maybe they'll run one of them new fangled "screen passes".

Plus Raiola has far more mobility than you are giving him credit for. Go watch more film.

Woche will never take a game snap. Ever. The new freshman walk on QB will play before Woche.
No disrespect intended here; just curious because I’ve seen you take a pretty emphatic stance that Woche will never, ever see the field every time his name comes up, and usually you strike me as more of a “wait and see” kind of poster. Is Woche that bad?

He can move enough to pick up a first down now and then but he’s not really a run threat. We haven’t exactly lit the world on fire with our screen executions. Rhule has on multiple occasions said he wants to model our offense after the Niners’ offense. One of the things that makes the Niners’ offense go is Brock Purdy’s run threat when he’s flushed. Same for KC. When Mahommes has a bad wheel they struggle.
