Chubba in the portal

Sounds like it’s Boise.
Boise has a great small stadium and Boise itself is a very fun city. I had a nephew who lived there so I have spent a lot of time there and have gone to two footballs games. If I push it and there is not bad weather in the Blue Mountains just east of Pendleton, Oregon it takes me about 6 1/2 hours to get there. I will also drive through it in February on my way to Sun Valley.

This was bound to happen when Dylan signed. Can't believe anyone is surprised, Chubba wants to be a starter. Would love to have a solid 1 year guy to push Dylan, that doesn't have NFL ambitions, get a decent NIL deal. That guy might not exist.

good luck to chubba, I'm wondering how these running backs who allways seem to be on injury leave are getting it together? at least with qb's we are raolia, kalin, hh...all I know about the rb's is johnson, ? , ?

Will you say the same when a true freshman does the same? Cause it’s likely to happen.
Neither. Not looking forward to watching Haarberg throw behind and over our receivers next fall after Raiola gets hurt in fall camp. We have to find a portal QB with some experience who can complete a pass. ☹️
As maybe over the top as I am in my disappointment about Purdy’s departure, your optimism about Raiola’s success as a true freshman is even more illogical. I hope to be proven wrong AND I hope to hell he doesn’t get hurt.
Time to stop acting like a chid and get behind the qb of the future..

He can move enough to pick up a first down now and then but he’s not really a run threat. We haven’t exactly lit the world on fire with our screen executions. Rhule has on multiple occasions said he wants to model our offense after the Niners’ offense. One of the things that makes the Niners’ offense go is Brock Purdy’s run threat when he’s flushed. Same for KC. When Mahommes has a bad wheel they struggle.
"When a QB is injured they don't play as well"

Hmmm I'm gonna have to look into this a little more. What a revelation.

You are worried about Raiola getting hurt but you wish the guy who has been hurt almost his entire time at NU would stay? The bar for Raiola during his freshman campaign is set so low because of people like Purdy who didn't do anything. It won't be hard to exceed.

Sure. Our backups have been starting a third or more of our games it seems since Zac Taylor.
His eligibility is starting to run out. You think he is going to stay so he can wait for Raiola to get hurt? Meanwhile DK would be gaining experience to try and take over the #2 spot. Just not realistic, unless he refuses to move down like CT did.

Purdy didn’t turn the ball over in high school either. Just sayin. Raiola wasn’t facing P5 defenses and their DCs. He’s going to have some serious growing pains. Somehow MN is getting 2 somewhat experienced transfer QBs.
Have you spoken to any Gopher fans lately? They would love to be in our situation of getting a recruit like Raiola and DK. Seriously, snap out of it. We got the #1 qb and another 4 star in the same class. Who does that other than Georgia or OSU?

It's unheard of for a school that hasn't been to a bowl game in 7 years and you are complaining about experience. Lol. Get a grip.

He’s never had much of a chance. The guy had the best QB skills of anybody we had. He had some of the best drives of the season those last 2 games. Yeah he screwed up a couple of times but I guarantee you do will Raiola. He’s going to get educated quickly by B1G defenses and their DCs. People thinking Dylan is going to light the world on fire as a true freshman are in for a reality check.
Nope. Not expecting DR to light the world on fire as a true freshman. But I think he will do better than Purdy. Purdy lost every game he started. He screwed up big time when it mattered this year. DR and Kaelin are our future. Start getting them ready. Next year might be rocky, but if you think it won’t be even rockier with Purdy as our starter then you are in a zone of thinking I can’t relate to.

Purdy choked by tossing pics when it mattered. He cost us two games. He has had his chance to shine and he screwed the pooch.

Tired of QB’s who are better at giving games away than winning them. Our future is with Raiola and Kaelin. HH is here as a backup/screwup.
I do agree that our future will be freshmen, we're an injury away from trouble imo. I wish Purdy would have stayed. Remember he was injured for most of fall. Yes it was extremely frustrating

I stated above that Purdy leaving hurts our depth. But almost all teams these days are two deep at QB at best due to transfers. So most teams are also just one or two injuries away from playing a Matt Turman type backup. We have HH. A portal transfer would be nice but I don’t see it. Thompson? Have not heard much on that lately. Can he even play on that leg?

This is going to sound really stupid to some of you but there's more to being a good quarterback than winning games. If not, then Brady would be undefeated in his career.

If I'm not mistaken Purdy was injured 2 years in a row from injuries that were not sustained in a game. What makes anyone think he was going to provide real depth when needed? Wish the kid the best but it's best for everyone to start fresh.

Hmmm sounds like something a loser would say 😉

This is a really good point. I was hopeful he'd finally get healthy.

I'm hopeful for a lot of things. Chubba Purdy winning games for us isn't one of them. At this point I'll put my faith in a freshman who could have literally picked any school in America. Chubba needs to go to a team like FAU like CT did. Somewhere he can try and get actual experience.

Raiola played at a high level, 3 schools and terminologies, 3 sets
Of teammates and STILL had unbelievable stats. The pains won’t be nearly what they are with most.

I’m not disappointed Chubba is leaving especially if it’s true if Thompson is coming in to be a walk on..

Chubba still has better QB skills better than either Sims or HH..

HH isn’t leaving becuse no other team has any interest in him not see’s any up side taking him…

Our 3 deep will be either a QB who can’t throw it in the ocean or a true freshman who isn’t ready. I can’t wait to see Haarberg trotted out as our starter again.

Rhule gave every indication that there was going to be a QB competition and that nobody had been promised anything. I think he at least had some chance of being the starter at some point. This is not good for our QB depth. There’s no way to spin that. Our room is woefully short of experience.
Rhule was giving “coach speak”. The starter has already (always) been pre-determined.

IF I’m Rhule I’m on the phone today to everybody I can think of today trying to find an experienced QB. My pitch is my top 2 QBs are true freshmen and I’m worried that they won’t be ready. After that I tell them that NU has needed to play 3 QBs every year for a decade so you’ll likely get your shot to play even if you’re not the starter in game 1.

And every experienced QB that is leaving is doing so because their previous team has recruited over them or their coach left. IF they wanted to wait for an injury they could stay where they are and do that.

No I haven’t heard that, heard what was offered to him that all..
I really don't believe he was offered anything. I don't believe he was invited up to Lincoln by Rhule or anyone on staff. He isn't in the portal so he can't take visits to campuses for purpose of recruiting. To believe that Rhule who says he won't talk about NIL stuff with players is going to be having conversations with a player not in the portal is not at all fathomable to me.

True that. I feel like some people are longing for the era when Raiola would have lit it up with the Freshman Team before patiently waiting his turn as a sophomore behind a couple of 3rd and 4th-year QBs who did the same. Those days have been gone for a while now.

Might have been nice if Purdy had stayed. But for the life of me, I can't imagine why it matters whether I'm happy or sad about him leaving. To nobody's surprise, he's gone. Time to move on.

There are and will be guys who want to try to compete at a higher level. There will be D2 and FCS starters looking to get paid. We have to sell how many QBs we’ve had to play and the inexperience of our backups…..that and a bag of cash. 50K might buy you a FCS starter better than Haarberg.

Maybe, but of all the experienced FCS and DII starters how many are currently in the portal? There are only 2 teams still playing, so there should be no reason for them to not be in the portal already right?

Please list the teams that have an awesome 3rd team qb. Now show me their 1st team qb and their record lately. Good lord. Look at the NFL when a starter goes down. They are pulling people out of retirement to find a decent qb.

Haarberg isn’t leaving because he’s a tough kid who’s not afraid to put in the work

He bleeds scarlet

The staff loves him. Nose permanently to the grindstone. Went from not even allowed in meetings to starter.

He will find a way onto the field one way or another and we’ll be better for it

This team and this country needs many more Haarbergs and many many less purdys
