Casey Thompson

Rhule thinks Sims is an NFL QB. That's a problem.
I’ve heard him say physically he’s an NFL QB. He always talked about his physical traits when I hard him say that. Not once did I hear him say that about his ball security or decision making. It’s called building a guy’s confidence.

He must be a dam good practice player is why the coaches go with him. But also coaches see a kid with talent but has turnover issues coach believes they can change them make them be consistent, just look at tanner Lee he was picked up by a nfl team because he Measured up
Rhule admitted he didn't know Sims has been a turnover machine his entire career. Lack of vision and understanding football by Rhule.

He can't even catch snaps...Rhule wasn't aware that Sims has been a turnover machine his entire career. He's not capable to be a QB, this isn't new. It's multiple years.

direct quote

“He’s a triple threat. He can throw it. He can run it. And he can beat you with his mind as well. He can get to the right play. He’s an NFL player. I think he’s under the radar. Not being talked about a lot. Which is probably good, there’s not a ton of expectation on him. I know our entire team is going to go out and fight for him cause because they believe in him. He’s such a great leader.”

said he is an NFL player (period)-- he doesn't qualify the statement by stating that physically he is an NFL player

starting with the same revisionist history and excuses bullcrap to protect the coach - just like the usual suspects did with Frost

Classic case of coach speak trying to build confidence in a young QB. All that can go out of the window in when that kid gets smacked in the face. Do you have a link for that quote?

Young QB???

He is in his 5th year of power 5 football and has played in 27 games

was he trying to build the confidence of Grant when he announced to the world that he was 3rd on the depth chart because of fumbling?

He did lose the QB battle
No he didn't as he couldn't compete because his shoulder was in a sling from surgery right after last season when spring practice came around and was still in it when he transfered a few months ago.

CT was coming off major surgery, we had to go get someone else. Just couldn’t roll the dice on CT being ready to go. The problem was there weren’t a ton of good portal options, and from the limited options, we chose poorly.

Keeping Smothers instead of Chubby would have been nice too.

Husker fans last words. Next year. Why not this year? Rhule was here for a full off season and Sims is the best they could come up with? I don't trust Rhules evaluation at QB.
well, you do you
that is the reality of the situation. crying won't help the situation.

Thompson was a cancer from what I was told. Probably best for Nebraska’s culture that he is gone.

Any idiots out there who still think Casey Thompson isn't better than Sims?
I wanted Casey to win the job before spring but I vouched for Sims before the season. I thought he would be better but of course in true cursed Nebraska fashion, he’s been unbelievably worse than any other season.

People shoulda seen the writing on the wall from his time at GT, just because he's here it's the same as it ever was and nothing has changed. With Casey, we win these 2 games. Simms is attrocious not only as a passer but also a game manager as well and that's the most important part.

Agree but Sims is not the same as he was. His stats are markedly worse then any of his previous years.

GT fans were very vocal that Sims sucks. I can't believe we have to go to bat for him. He shouldn't be in a scholly.

Who is crying? Are incapable of answering real questions? Do you not agree or are you a Frost shoulda gotten more time type a lil fella.

wow

“Jeff is taking great care of the ball,” Rhule said. “When the Big Ten Network came, they talked about him being the highest in college football in terms of returning turnovers. I wouldn’t have ever expected that just from being around him.

“Someone went back and watched them, and there were a lot of times you would say they’re
probably not his fault. He was getting hit or someone got hit and dropped that ball. I think Jeff is taking great care of the ball.”

Could've still been the starting qb but apparently we HAD to bring in Sims
Casey Thompson was recovering from surgery when Rhule was hired. He had no idea whether Casey would recover well enough to play this fall. Casey was also injury prone. Rhule had to make a decision and he did. It was not a good decision but i can understand his thought process on not necessarily banking on Casey for the future. The decision to bring in Sim was a stupid decision based on Sims past record. But, I don't find fault in him looking elsewhere for a qb. Casey made the decision to move on once Rhule got Sims to commit, not Rhule.

That's just coach speak to build up confidence, right @dinglefritz
