Casey Thompson

He'll be 22 in January and has started for parts of 4 seasons. He isn't young.
22 isn’t old. My baby graduated a year ago. I hung out with her and some of her friends most of whom played varsity college sports. That was Ivy League and there was still pressure. The pressure on Husker football players is over the top.

Dear Penthouse,

I never thought this would happen to me...

It's pretty old for CFB. 4 years of practices and games is alot.

Players are welcome to go somewhere where the pressure is reduced. No one made them come here.

No, it is not

The losingest coach in NU history got an extension

The losingest qb in NU history had fans lined up around the block to buy his old sweaty used clothes

There is no pressure here

If Over The Top doesn’t work for your next username you should probably use Off The Deep End.
See?

All Rhule or trev or Fred or bolt ever see are apologists and excuse makers

No wonder we suck

I did not know you swung that way...

Not judging...good for you!
I don’t. It was Saturday morning before a football game. There were 4 track athletes there and they were friends with some of the football team. It was interesting listening to them talk about the demands of playing a sport and trying to maintain their academic goals. Said it was worse for their football friends.

Yeah, so I skip that part of the video.

Not a big "plot" guy

Agree but Sims is not the same as he was. His stats are markedly worse then any of his previous years.
Worse yes, but his career stats are 57% comp and 30 TDs to 23 INTs before coming here.
Only played 7 games last year but had 5 TDs and 3 INTs…. only 5.7 yds per attempt and passer rating 114.

73 QBs in 2022 threw 15 TDs or more.
100 QBs threw 10 or more TDs.

Most played 10-12 games, so less than 2x as many games but 2-3 times as many TDs.
95 QBs with a higher passer rating than Sims.

Also gotta plug the bad OL play cus Sims shouldn’t detract from that too much. 😆

Yeah, we have 2 former 4* QBs with multiple years in college who apparently can’t perform in the Top100 of QBs… and a 3* (as you know) plus 2 walk-ons.

Take off the top 50, remove another 15 seniors with no eligibility, and we could put a craigslist ad offering free runzas and a scholly for 30 QBs left to find 1 to improve our output… add in a couple FCS prospects (given some recent success of others) and there’s little chance we cannot find 1 out of about 100 options willing to come to Nebraska who can catch a snap and run a passing play to keep less than 9 defenders in the box.

Or just go to the local campus flag football league and pick the first one who catches a snap and buy him a beer to come help us get 2 wins.
Might even stumble into a woman’s intramural soccer player who can punt a football more than 26 yds consistently while you’re at it.

That would be a sweet username! Sig pic incoming.

So the chomo with no criminal record lives next door. They would help the neighbor bring the trash can up, always friendly to the other neighbors. Then after he butt diddles little kids, the neighbor says, "I wouldn't ever had suspected him to be a chomo" based on his behavior and looking at the chomo registry.

As far as Sims specifically goes -

Then, someone went back and watched film and made an assessment that it wasn't always his fault etc...

That tells me that they were aware of the issues at Ga Tech and they researched the actual turnovers.

They didn't know until television people told them, months after bringing Sims in. Then they went back and watched. They had no idea about the turnovers before bringing him in.

Well that concerns me even more. Least thorough scouting in America I guess. What did they recruit him based on if they didn't watch film? His size? His highlight video?

I'm sure they watched some film and I believe Rhule said Sims was recommended to them. Not having the knowledge of how turnover prone he is before getting him seems like a massive mistake.

Preacher Rhule echoed the some of this sentiment after the embarrassment we witnessed on Sat

"as a quarterback, turnovers aren't always your fault..."

And he's right.
which of sims' turnovers this year are someone else's fault?

we've had zero tipped balls or wrong routes on his INTs

his 3 fumbles lost occurred without him even being tackled

The interceptions are his. The snaps might be a combo of things.

Rhule mentioned in the press conference (that you don't listen to) that they were having issues with the silent count. So that might have played a part.

On that note, that's completely unacceptable and entirely on Rhule and Satterfield. Your 1st two games of the year are on the road and you don't have the silent count dialed in. That's a terrible look.

don't forget the alligator-armed botched handoff

I'm fine if you want to blame the coaching staff's lack of preparation for the snaps, even if Sims showed zero urgency in attempting to recover either of them after the fact

I'd like to see the replay of that. Klatt put that on Sims, but I've heard others say that Ervin messed that up.

Truth on that is probably somewhere in the middle.

It's all concerning. The entire package of his turnovers. And we can't forget he nearly blew the throwback against Minnesota. It's so bizarre.

He non-chalantly tried to pick up the one fumble when he could have fell on it.

Plus we have to remember running out of bounds and stopping the clock for CU.

I'm not conspiracy theory guy but if things keep up I'm going to start to wonder.
