Bo Pelini had anger management issues. He also won 71% of his games and appeared in three CCGs. So Eichorst was going to have a tough sled in replacing him and wanted a relatively tight window in order to salvage recruiting efforts. He didn't keep the hook in the water long. Maybe he should have taken a flyer on Frosty.a lot of players were very loyal to Bo and now feel SE got what was coming. If I were one of those players, I might feel the same, but that was the one thing SE got right. Unfortunately, he was clueless on part #2 of that plan.
While I don't like Pelini, most of his players didn't even know who Eichorst was until he fired their coach. He is a phony who started acting like a cheerleader on the sidelines after he hired his own coach. Hard to sympathize with him knowing this:
Yeah I am sure that happened.... didn't they all say he was never around or in the locker room? That story is changing now? It's one thing to be happy that the guy who fired someone that you're very loyal to got the axe himself but it's another thing to make sure that you go out and publicly express it to as many people as you can. While it might be loyal to your former coach it's also to a lot of people although certainly not all a fairly simplistic case of red ass. For me if I would have had a coach fired that I was very loyal to and the guy who fired him got taken out like our former athletic director did I would have had a big ass grin on my face I would have talked all my former teammates and we have had a good laugh about it but I don't think I would have gone on to social media or done anything with the media that made it clear that I'm just that type of person character-wise. I'm sure they'll be a lot of people on here who will disagree with me. That's what makes Sports so much fun as we can all want the same result but how we get there can be very different.
It's kind of just proving that Eichorst was right. Bo was not teaching them anything of value after football. It's one thing to be happy that the guy who fired someone that you're very loyal to got the axe himself but it's another thing to make sure that you go out and publicly express it to as many people as you can. Really? No one said they aren't huskers forever, they are the ones who have chosen to separate themselves.Once a husker always...wait...unless they played for Bo. Then they are just like him.
Who said they are not Huskers? Oh lying preacher. Please tell us again your opinion on Peterson (the guy hired and promoted by Osborne)Once a husker always...wait...unless they played for Bo. Then they are just like him.

And he was right to. Just like Bounds and Green did the same today.... except they had a bomb sniffing dog as well.Josh MitchellVerified account@J_Mitch05
That man showed up to our team meeting room with armed security to tell us he fired our coachbut u want me to have respect for him. CRAZY
That's why a lot of coaches clean house when they get a job at a power five school. Riley tried to keep on all of the players and chose not to run off any of the lazies and malcontents. The brown stain that has been left behind by Bo's tenure just won't go away.

Don't know any Peterson.Who said they are not Huskers? Oh lying preacher. Please tell us again your opinion on Peterson (the guy hired and promoted by Osborne)

Probably could have had the right timing when the UCLA audio came out.He didn't get it right.
It was a year too late.
I can't disagree with you on Riley either. I like him and would like to see him succeed, but at some point he has to prove himself. For me, some of those ridiculous losses in his first year really raised some red flags.Oh come on.... I don't like Pelini anymore than you but it's obvious that Riley is just not the answer. I wish he was but he simply is not a good coach imho. Armstrong didn't like the way Eichorst pulled the trigger, so what's the big deal?
Not a huge fan of Riley either. Why is it that people on this free board seem to think that if you are not a fan of Bo, then you must like Riley? I didn't like Callahan either and I still hate Steve Peterson.Yea right.......well your buddy MR will go down as one of the worst coaches here in history and no amount of blaming Bo will ever change that for rational people
I'm talking about making an example out of a few players. Bench kids for lack of effort and that type of thing. Maybe run them off if they don't respond well to it. But that's not Riley's style. Ultimately, if players get away with false effort in practice and mistakes are not always corrected, then it carries over into games and it hurts team chemistry as well.Thats easy to say but Riley still needed a team capable of being competetive. You think we've had talent/depth issues the last few years? Your approach is basically what Weis did at KU and it left them with mediocre division ii talent and historically bad teams even by KU standards. Its going to take them an awful long time to recover from that.
Or that Bo was right. One thing we know is Eichorst didn't get much right. It's kind of just proving that Eichorst was right. Bo was not teaching them anything of value after football.
Yeah because YOU were there right?Yeah I am sure thatt happened.... didn't they all say he was never around or in the locker room? That story is changing now? What did he look like after Melvin Gordon pulled a solo train on them?
Fans like you make me sick. Life behind football........try it sometime. Instead of pegging your entire existence on a college team.Yeah I am sure thatt happened.... didn't they all say he was never around or in the locker room? That story is changing now? Good coaches come in and win right away. Riley isn't a very good coach. It's a good thing he didn't run off Tommy. He would be going for his third losing season in a row. That's why a lot of coaches clean house when they get a job at a power five school. I guess Mark Dantonio, Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney aren't very good coaches...Good coaches come in and win right away. Riley isn't a very good coach. It's a good thing he didn't run off Tommy. He would be going for his third losing season in a row.
