Maybe the competition was daunting. According to 247 OSU has five OTs on the roster: two 3* senior OTs and three junior 3* OTs. There were no 2024 OT recruits. He and another 3* are their 2025 OT recruits.
Nebraska has 10 OTs on the roster: two 4* seniors, two 4* and three 3* juniors, and two 4* RSFr (Hood and Brix) and high 3* Knack. NU has no 2025 OT commit, but maybe what we already have on the roster, plus the way Rhule navigates the portal, plus maybe Cantwell coming next year sort of spooked him.

Actually there's a lot of time left until signing day. It wouldn't surprise me terribly to see some recruits flip and come back (ala Dylan last year) if we have a good season. Obviously not something we can or should plan on but it just wouldn't surprise me either.
Keep the communication open with Merritt. Keep it positive. Have a turnaround season led by our stud true frosh QB. Have something go a little sour on the Alabama side before early signing. Profit, hopefully.
