Ten years later and I still hate that we moved to the B1G 🤮
Our 2024 big ten schedule is the easiest of any program in the 2024-2025 releaseI would have preferred having Michigan on the schedule one year and Ohio St the next year instead of having neither on the schedule one year 2024, and both on the schedule like in 2025..
Have no issues playing UCLA both years..
Can someone tell me how they came to the conclusion that Penn St would have no protected rivalry game ? And how did they come up with Purdue and Illinois protected opponents…
Not sure what conference we could be in and have losing seasons 7 of the past 8 years and not hate it. Being a doormat is always hateful.Ten years later and I still hate that we moved to the B1G 🤮
Strong case with Nebraska on the schedule.Cant wait to see Iowa and Wisconsins cake walk.
Eh, chicken and egg I guess. Our downward spiral correlates perfectly with our move. I don't think it's a coincidence. Not sure what conference we could be in and have losing seasons 7 of the past 8 years and not hate it. Being a doormat is always hateful.
Penn State should be playing Pittsburgh every year as a true rival. They have played over 100 games against each other.I would have preferred having Michigan on the schedule one year and Ohio St the next year instead of having neither on the schedule one year 2024, and both on the schedule like in 2025..
Have no issues playing UCLA both years..

And on the flip side the 2025 schedule is the toughest schedule anyone will face in the 2 year period…Our 2024 big ten schedule is the easiest of any program in the 2024-2025 release
Of the 32 team schedules (2024-2025) we are the only program who only has 1 blue blood on one of their schedules
Nope plenty of other teams play 3 of the 4 of OSU-Michigan- PSU or USC in a yearAnd on the flip side the 2025 schedule is the toughest schedule anyone will face in the 2 year period…
No, I don't think it will identical every two years. Protected games for all the teams obviously will be the same but which other teams you play twice (in our case UCLA and Minnesota) can change and be adjusted for competitive balance. Also the order and mix between years might be different.Since the schedule rotates every two years - will this not be our fate every other year??
Who’s whining about it... Sparty has Michigan for a protected opponent so they would have one anyway plus they play Rutgers and Indiana in the same year in 2024.Nope plenty of other teams play 3 of the 4 of OSU-Michigan- PSU or USC in a year
MSU plays 3 of the 4 both years
Others just don’t whine about it
Finally. At OSU and at USC. Good call.
24-17Strong case with Nebraska on the schedule.
Ding ding ding. UCLA is a little suspect they had a pretty okay year last year but did lose to 5-7 Arizona. Also I am still not 100% sold on USC. Lincoln Riley has a pretty suspect record against physical teams. His record and close games against KSU shows this. His record last year was 11-3. The 3 loses were to physical tough teams that ram the ball down your throat. So we will see. USC is of course far scarier than UCLA. I just think they are a notch below Michigan for example.UCLA has had 5 losing seasons the past 7 years and their best years were 4 loss seasons. They don’t belong in the same conversation as USC - OSU and Michigan. So while we play all three of those teams in 2025, we don’t play any of them in 2024
LFG
NU's downward spiral correlates perfectly with hiring Mike Riley and Scott Frost.Eh, chicken and egg I guess. Our downward spiral correlates perfectly with our move. I don't think it's a coincidence.
Hilarious!I especially love the name chosen by the B1G for this scheduling model.
Flex Protect Plus!
Sounds like a feminine hygiene product.
2001 was the beginningNU's downward spiral correlates perfectly with hiring Mike Riley and Scott Frost.
Unless they continued the invented MSU one, it makes a little sense if you consider the 3 border state teams:Can someone tell me how they came to the conclusion that Penn St would have no protected rivalry game ?
Good questionAnd how did they come up with Purdue and Illinois protected opponents…
I feel like McNeese State and Abdullah having to pull a god-like play to win the game was the first time I thought we were in real trouble … we ain’t been right since.NU's downward spiral correlates perfectly with hiring Mike Riley and Scott Frost.
Call the ADs at both schools and tell them that .Penn State should be playing Pittsburgh every year as a true rival. They have played over 100 games against each other.
Be the best let’s play them, lately Minnesota, Illinois and Purdue have beaten us so what difference does it make? I think we should join fcs so we can compete. I am sick of losing and the losing mentality. Get out compete adjust and and win and be what we are supposed to be.Nebraska protected rivalries that we have to play every year;
Ohio State
MIchigan
Penn State
UCLA
USC
Am I missing anything?
Yea cause we didn’t make bowl games before Riley.I feel like McNeese State and Abdullah having to pull a god-like play to win the game was the first time I thought we were in real trouble … we ain’t been right since.
We won a bowl game that year - only saying the cracks in the dam were showing and were about to break open.Yea cause we didn’t make bowl games before Riley.
At 5-7 we made a bowl I forgot. The cracks in the damn go back 2001We won a bowl game that year - only saying the cracks in the dam were showing and were about to break open.
I don't know, bit of a subjective argument here. In our last 12 years in the Big 12, we made 4 conference championship game appearances. In our 12 years in the Big 10, we've made 1. That's across multiple coaches.NU's downward spiral correlates perfectly with hiring Mike Riley and Scott Frost.
That's the way I read it tooNo, I don't think it will identical every two years. Protected games for all the teams obviously will be the same but which other teams you play twice (in our case UCLA and Minnesota) can change and be adjusted for competitive balance. Also the order and mix between years might be different.
NopeYes you are
for the people who think Rhule needs 2 years to build then our schedule is perfectI would have preferred having Michigan on the schedule one year and Ohio St the next year instead of having neither on the schedule one year 2024, and both on the schedule like in 2025..
Have no issues playing UCLA both years..

Depends on who you talk to. Most fans on here are older and so wistfully remember the days of the Big 12/8. I’m older as well but I do not have fond memories of the Big 12 at all.I don't know, bit of a subjective argument here. In our last 12 years in the Big 12, we made 4 conference championship game appearances. In our 12 years in the Big 10, we've made 1. That's across multiple coaches.
But yeah Riley and Frost certainly didn't help anything. And yeah I can understand the argument that it started in 2001 or the McNeese game or whatever.
Regardless, the grass has certainly not been greener in the B1G that's for sure. Quite the contrary. I don't think there's an objective fan among us who wouldn't love to go back to the way things were when we were in the Big 12.
Yup, agree with all. But we make $48M/yr more than our old brethren except for OU, UT, MO, and A&M, so karma is a bitch. Like a plague of locusts, Texas devoured it's host and moved on, just like it did the SWC. KU, KSU, ISU, CO, and OKST. were unwitting participants in their own undoing.I remember OU abandoning NU for UT, who then ran the conference. I remember Nebraska being outvoted 11-1 on almost every issue and those same schools now lamenting it. Especially since OUT is headed for the SEC.
I remember the conference treating Nebraska like shit for most of its existence. It was whatever Texas wanted. And everyone else except NU did whatever they told them to do.
So yeah. I do not miss that crappy conference at all. And neither do younger fans who you can find on Reddit and Discord.
Case in point. There was a Husker fan on Reddit who started a thread basically saying NU wasn’t a good fit in the BIG.
He was downvoted and the entire thread was mostly Husker fans making fun of him.
Trying to speak it into truth. You running for political office? No team outside Nebraska is posted about on these boards more than Iowa. It’s not really even close.hatred runs deep?
maybe iowa fans hate us, but every NU fan I know either feels bad for iowa fans or is completely apathetic toward them
we've got guys on here openly posting about having iowa fan friends. that's a rivalry?
That is because you donkeys come over here all the time.Trying to speak it into truth. You running for political office? No team outside Nebraska is posted about on these boards more than Iowa. It’s not really even close.
Keep making it fun to visit this board.
