1 score games: Riley > Frost > Rhule

I may be wasting my time rooting for the same team I watched in memorial with my dad in the 70s. You’re wasting your time being on the wrong board.
not that i'm surprised, but nobody asked or cares about how old you are.

but given you've been a fan since the leather helmet days, you should be even more appalled than me at the state of the program.

in 9 years, Rhule has coached 1 single team to a post-season Top 25 finish - 2019 Baylor, which finished ranked 13th.

we are getting exactly what we hired.
This!! It amazes people thought otherwise. The dude has 50 Meg in the bank and was looking for a hobby or project. He knows he’s not winning here. There’s very little stress or pressure with the talent here. It’s not like he’s in TX where your bench players have a shot at Sundays. This is his dream job!! People take football way to serious here as if it’s last century and or ever going to change. It’s NOT!!

Ending a season ranked 13th would be fine with me.
Would that be a problem for you?

Scott Frost ended a season ranked #6 in the nation at UCF.

One good season doesn't make someone a good coach. Both Rhule and Frost have only had one good season as head coaches. Yet we gave them contracts that would make you think they had won national championships.

So, to summarize - there are no good coaches and they're all bad. No one we hired or could have hired would have been successful at Nebraska.

can we add Pelini and Callahan stats in here for comparison?

lets be real

Frost was trash. happy ice-cream man was what he was. A .500 coach. Rhule's fate is tbd. we will know in the next 2-3 years. it is what it is. We have to have hope and trust the process at this point. If we don't, why be a fan.
That being said, I think it's fine and legit to complain an criticize. He makes more in a year than most of us will probably make in our lifetime. If he isn't delivering, then he either finds a way to fix quickly (2, maybe 3 years) or we are forced to move on.

I wouldn't be complaining if we were ranked 13th.
As the saying goes, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and again.

I'm complaining about a coach whose HC record is 68-82.

I’m complaining about a coach who hasn’t had a winning season in 5 years.

I’m complaining about a coach that has only had 4 winning seasons in 12 years!!!

I’m wouldn’t complain about a coach who has consistently won and finished in the top 25. (Not one who’s done that 1 time).

People point to his jobs at Baylor and Temple. Did he ever really prove that he could sustain it or did he flea right after?

And who did they even beat?.

Sure, but half of those games shouldn't have even been close.

Big difference losing by 1 score to a Top 5 ranked team and winning a 1 score game to a 6-5 FCS program.

The guy won 75% of his games here, no fewer than 9 wins each year, consistently ranked, bowl game every season. The team is so pathetic now that we'd consider just getting bowl eligible as a major win for the program.

With each coaching change the bar gets lowered. Riley made bowl games and won half of all games. Sadly it’s been downhill since. The 5-1 start to this year including a win over an old rival is the highwater mark of the last 8 years. The most troubling to me is having to admit that the Iowa fans that were saying several years ago that we are a nobody, that we should go back to the Big 12 were right. Iowa has not done anything of significance but what those fans say about Nebraska was/is correct.

I’ve been saying this on here lately but when Mike Riley was dismissed no one could have predicted that the next 2 coaches to follow him would have worse results!! Absolutely unreal
Riley is a very good coach. Evidence is how he did in the XFL or whatever the hell they called it. His problem was recruiting and letting Eichorst make him fire Banker. The other issue with him was his lack of commitment to NU and Lincoln. Recruits and fans notice that. He is a very knowledgeable guy respected by most of the coaching fraternity (not just the ones who beat him) for that knowledge. IF he had kept Banker he easily would have made a bowl game again that last year. He no doubt is a better coach than Frost.

Disagree, he wasn’t going to go to a bowl game in 2017 regardless if Banker would have stuck around for the final year..

Again Eichort had no business being our A.D. and we paid dearly for the coaching decision. SF era was another story..

Mike Riley wasn't a coach at all.. he was a "yes man" ceo.. who let the AD run the show.

Matt Rule is similar, in that he is not a coach at all either. He's also more of a ceo and mouthpiece for the program.

So if the football is suffering (hint it is) he needs to get better coordinators and assistant coaches in here.

I just wonder why it has taken him so long to address anything? I'm positive he had to be forced to make a change at the OC spot mid season, but what about the other positions?

If he could get on board with tracking some metrics and holding his staff accountable, he might be able to save himself here.

The fans at Nebraska are not just going to sit on their hands when they see so many obvious areas for improvement.

Rhule has to be a lot more pro-active if he is going to last very long.
