Basketball Pitt transfer John Hugley IV to visit Nebraska (4/14/23 update: Hugley has canceled the visit)

I've confirmed that John Hugley IV, who spent the past three seasons at Pittsburgh, will visit Nebraska from April 17-19.

Hugley is a 6-foot-9, 265-pound big from Cleveland, Ohio. He only played in eight games this past season before sitting out the rest of the year to focus on his mental and physical health — he dealt with a pre-season knee injury and wasn't himself at the start of the campaign. In those eight games, he averaged eight points and 3.6 rebounds. Here's what he tweeted back in January:

"Panther Nation, thank you for your continued support throughout a challenging year for me mentally as well as physically. I want nothing more than to be on the court with my teammates, however due to an injury and my mental health being a priority; after long discussions and talks with my coaches, family and mentors, I have decided the best course of action for me will be to sit out the remainder of the season to fully invest in healing mentally as well as physically."

In the 2021-22 season, Hugley started 32 games for the Panthers and averaged 14.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per game while shooting 47% from the field and 71% at the free-throw line. That season he recorded nine double-doubles, including a 32-point, 13-rebound effort in a win over Boston College.

NCAA WRESTLING RULES COMMITTEE PROPOSES 3-POINT TAKEDOWN By NCAA | April 19, 2023, 4:23 p.m. (ET)

The NCAA Wrestling Rules Committee at its annual meeting in Indianapolis this week recommended making all takedowns worth 3 points, effective with the 2023-24 season.

All rule proposals must be approved by the NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel. The panel is scheduled to discuss wrestling recommendations during a videoconference June 8.

Wrestling Rules Committee members think increasing the scoring for takedowns by an additional point will enhance the sport by rewarding offensive actions and risk-taking.

The committee also agreed there was a need to create a more appropriate point differential between takedowns and escapes and incentivize offense when competitors are in the neutral position.

Recruiting Quick 2024 four-star DE Williams Nwaneri note...

Nebraska just re-offered Williams Nwaneri, the top defensive player in Missouri for the 2024 class.

Nwaneri was on campus for a Junior Day last January and I talked to him then so I reached back out quick to get his thoughts on being re-offered by Matt Rhule's staff. He's pumped about the offer and isn't sure when he will be back on campus. He did say that he will definitely be back soon though so that's great news for Nebraska. He hasn't spoken with defensive line coach Terrance Knighton yet but likes where the relationship is heading so far.

"I haven’t really got the chance to have a real long conversation with him but just off us texting today he seems pretty cool and I’m looking forward to building a stronger relationship with him, Nwaneri said."

Nwaneri should be toward the top of Nebraska's defensive big board this cycle. I'll definitely be tracking when he sets that visit to get back to Lincoln.

Jalen Hurts and the Transfer Portal

Congrats to Jalen Hurts and his new $255 million contract ($179 million guaranteed). Well deserved and well earned.

Just wondering what people's thoughts are here.

Do you think Jalen would be in this position if he never transferred from Bama and finished his career sitting behind Tua? If not, why would you want that future for him or anyone else when going somewhere else might be key to his development and reaching his ultimate goal professionally?
