Alternate reality

Imagine if Dana Holgerson was our OC right now.

Do you think we’d be averaging at least 24 ppg?

I’d say undoubtedly yes.

We have top 50 talent yet perform around 90-100.

Sat is incapable of finding success.

On the final drive, he calls 2 screens in a row after going about 0/10 on screens all day, forcing his TRUE FRESHMAN QB into a position where he has to heave it 20 yards just to stay alive, all while in a hostile top 5 environment.

It’s inexplicable. Rhule needs to own the mistake he made in Marcus and find an upgrade quickly.

If you were Troy Dannen…

While I understood his desire to be near family and friends his decision to come here never made much sense to me from a professional standpoint. It’s not like he didn’t have a comparable job at Washington that he was leaving and he controlled the critical football coach hire, I think. He obviously knew he was going to have his career riding on the football program getting revived and he was going to be stuck for years with Trev’s guy to get that tough job done.

So the question I have been pondering: If OSU blows us out and this year turns out to be another 0 for November, would I just sit on my hands and hope Rhule figures out this gig soon? Or would I push hard for assistant coaching changes in 2025 knowing that Rhule like most of his predecessors will balk and whatever relationship we have now will go South?

Just curious what you think might happen, assuming Rhule is safe no matter what for at least three or four years. I also realize we may do great things the rest of this season and this discussion may be moot.🤞🫰

Item 1,890 on the list…

Of things a Satterfag offense doesn’t do. Never, or pretty much almost never, fools the defense in a single play. All over CFB and against our DC/defense as well you see OC’s get a defense in look they have the perfect call and it’s a wide open easy TD. I see this happen all the time, even with fairly average offenses, but not with satt. Yes, I’m piling on and IDGAF at this point.

Football Matt Rhule diagnoses what went wrong vs IU, what needs to be fixed ASAP

Might want, or need, to bookmark this and dive into it in multiple stages. There's a ton here. Because ... there were a ton of questions for Rhule to attempt to answer in his Monday afternoon presser.

Some thoughts of my own are the intro of this story, then it's a transcript of everything Rhule said regarding what went wrong against IU + what needs to be fixed going forward:

Insanity

Everyone knows the definition and yet Satterfield continues to run that epically stupid WR swing pass that has not worked one damn time this year.
It’s a guaranteed loss of yardage and yet he runs it multiple times per game. Banks and Neyer cannot block it, they can’t block it one-on-one no matter the defender.

And in every single game we can count on losing the special teams battle. I’ve seen high schools with better special teams.

Rhule has some important decisions to make with his staff.

Angling for the reverse jinx…not going to watch the game live…

Heading out with the boys for our annual Lobster diving trip. We generally do it on opening day, which was last weekend, but postponed it because I wanted to watch the Indiana game…well we all know how that worked out.

Heading out with 6 pals and three boats to the Channel Islands, load up on lobster 🤞,throw them in a kiddie pool equipped with an aerator, in the backyard, and have a grilled lobster feast/NFL watch party tomorrow.

Hope this drastic step helps change the trajectory of this game…🦞 🦞 🦞
