Recruiting New 2023 FutureCast for Nebraska

The Huskers hosted four uncommitted high school players last weekend plus Georgia OL Jacob Hood. The only player from that group that hasn't committed to Nebraska is California 3-star defensive end Sua Lefotu. I am firing in a FutureCast for Lefotu to pick Nebraska when he announces a commitment. Sources close to the recruitment say that Lefotu felt great about everything he saw in Lincoln last weekend and he got a real family vibe on the visit.

I'll also add that Lefotu will not be taking any visits this last weekend that visits are allowed. That's a great sign for the Huskers chances as they will be his last visit.

Wrestling: No. 10 Nebraska vs. No. 18 Wisconsin

Hey folks, I won’t be at Devaney today as some unforeseen family circumstances has put me out of comission for coverage. But feel free to put your reactions from the match in the thread. I’ll be sure to check up later.

16 ranked wrestlers are set to compete today with four possible top 25 matchups. Keep an eye out on No. 2 Austin Gomez at 149. He had to forfeit a match on Friday due to injury default against No. 4 Yahya Thomas of Northwestern. Big weights I’m looking at is 125 with No. 5 Liam Cronin vs. No. 8 Eric Barnett. You also got 197 where No. 20 Silas Allred takes on No. 12 Braxton Amos.

The Badgers are sneaky good and should present a stiff challenge. They pushed No. 2 Iowa to the brink last Sunday when the Hawkeyes won on criteria when the match was tied at 18.

You can watch the match on BTN+ today.

Crayton fairies, explain yourselves

Honestly, as far as an embarrassment to a university, I put this up there with the power towel and the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

A couple of my favorites:

"Most fans just want to relax. DO NOT be too loud."

"When Creighton makes a 3: Hold up 3-point signs (THIS IS IMPORTANT) - Signs help fans remember a 3-pointer is worth 3 points"

"When Creighton shoots FT - Hands high with wavy fingers (helps the shooter focus)"

What an embarrassment to the great state of Nebraska. You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

Recruiting Nebraska sending entire staff to Dylan Raiola’s school

I can confirm that almost all of Nebraska’s staff is in Arizona to go visit 2024 five-star QB Dylan Raiola’s high school.

Raiola has been told that he is the number one priority for coach Matt Rhule and they’d like to rebuild the program around him. Every assistant coach is scheduled to be in Arizona today for this. Matt Rhule has already been to the school this month, so by the rules he can't join the rest of the staff in the school.

The Huskers are hoping to lock in a visit with Raiola soon, but it is expected he will return to campus before making a decision.

Update: Raiola spoke with Rivals' Adam Gorney about this visit from Nebraska's staff:

Look at the Closing Power of our Staff if we get players on Campus…

40 new players (including the 2 WRs who are coming back)

This is what happens when you watch the practice film of the existing players that didn't play and the game film of those who did and decide that the talent level is so low that you think you need to replace almost 1/2 of the team. Essentially Rhule and the staff seem to believe that among the players who are still technically returning (62), that at least 17 of them need to go (probably more).

Reaching on “project” recruits

My question is this, is it MORE or LESS critical to offer & sign recruits that are ready to compete for playing time within the first 2 yrs in todays landscape of transfers and massive roster movements each year? It’s obvious where HCMR stands on this, so please no “you just have to trust he knows what he is doing” replies.
I’ve heard it stated in multiple posts on this board that it’s less important than it used to be because if you take a flyer and it doesn’t work out, you just process them out and take a transfer. Whereas others might argue that because of the trend of players putting themselves in the portal if they aren’t getting significant playing time within the first 3 yrs, how much time do really have to develop these types of guys?

OT: a Little help please re: taco burgers

A while back someone mentioned a taco/Mexican restaurant chain that had very similar menu item to Taco John’s world famous Taco Burger.
I know. I know. It’s not that great or healthy but it’s something I enjoyed when young.
I’ll be in Marble Falls TX in 30 min where the restaurant I’m looking for is located. I just don’t remember the name of the chain.

Anyone have any idea what i’m referring to?

Football Kiara Mayo hired as Nebraska's assistant director of football operations

Mayo comes to Nebraska from Lamar. Also spent time at Vanderbilt.

Here's her Lamar bio:

Basketball Final: Maryland 82, Nebraska 63

Nebraska (10-11 overall, 3-7 in Big Ten) is looking to snap a two-game losing streak this afternoon and will need to do it on the road as it takes on Maryland (13-7, 4-5). Tipoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. and it'll be shown on BTN with Jason Ross Jr. and Robbie Hummel on the call.

This will be a two-game road trip for the Huskers. After today's game, they'll fly to Illinois for Tuesday night's contest with the Fighting Illini. That game will close a stretch where NU played six of nine games on the road during January.

Here's a bit of pregame reading from @Zack Carpenter:

Basketball WBB FINAL: No. 10 Iowa 80, Nebraska 76

The Huskers (12-8, 4-5) return to action after six days to face rival and No. 10 Iowa (16-4, 8-1) today at noon on FOX. Huskers coming off a loss to No. 11 Maryland while the Hawkeyes have won five straight. This is also a rematch of last season's Big Ten Tournament championship game.

This is also the ninth AP Top 25 opponent for Nebraska and its fourth top 5 opponent. If current rankings hold, the Huskers are scheduled to face 13 AP Top 25 opponents this season which would be a program record.
