Emmanuel Bandoumel, who has exhausted his college eligibility, had surgery on his left knee Jan. 26. Recovery is between 8 and 9 months.

Football Matt Rhule on Zavier Betts, Arik Gilbert and bonds built in the cafeteria

Good stuff from Matt Rhule today on two guys with troubled pasts — WR Zavier Betts and TE Arik Gilbert. Also, more good stuff from Rhule on how he thinks the cafeteria is a good spot to build team bonds.

Football Blackshirt Breakdowns: 2023 class

@Steve Marik and @Foremanjay5655 have dug into the game film for 20 of the Huskers' 39 scholarship additions this offseason in their Blackshirt Breakdown series.

The following is a one-stop shop for all of those breakdowns. This is my favorite thing we've implemented on the site, so I encourage you to check these out if you haven't yet!

Eagles Lineman

Looks like the eagles will be down a starter on their offensive line. Probably best that they have time to adjust, but they definitely don't need the distraction.

Why does the timing on these stories always seem to be so perfect?

Football Speed and versatility — Nebraska's offseason WR additions full of intrigue

Positional flexibility.

Billy Kemp, Josh Fleeks, Jaidyn Doss, Demitrius Bell, Ismael Smith Flores. They're all weapons who can potentially turn one personnel look into another without subbing.

And with that, possible mismatches.

When you look at the new receivers the Husker staff has brought in, I see a clear plan:

Recruiting Gage Wager commits to Nebraska as a PWO

Gage Wager, a Class of 2023 athlete out of Arlington Martin (Texas) High School, just confirmed with me that he has committed to Nebraska as a preferred walk-on. He says that he will be joining the program as a bit of a utility man and will be used as a punter, kicker and as either a running back or receiver.

Wager, who is the son of Nebraska TE coach Bob Wager, and says, "I'm fired up to be with the Huskers and can't wait to get started!"

7. National Signing Day in February.

All of us on Inside Nebraska follow every detail, rumor, good news, bad news and many questions about extraneous things like I need some to build my deck or I need a good divorce lawyer or what are you drinking tonight. Inside Nebraska covers it all.

Volleyball Wisconsin lands Northwestern transfer Temi Thomas-Ailara

Scary addition for the Badgers who get a multi-time All-American and one of the best offensive outside hitters in college volleyball. She’ll have only one year left of eligibility. Thomas-Ailara was second in the Big Ten last year with 4.33 kills per set. With the addition of All-Big Ten middle blocker Carter Booth earlier in the offseason, Wisconsin is looking tough. With Penn State nabbing Mac Podraza earlier in the offseason, the top of the Big Ten is going to be a bloodbath.

Recruiting rankings

ESPN has NU at 25; behind Colorado and Texas Tech, ahead of Mich St, Miss St, Washington. They usually have NU ranked much lower than any other service.

Player rankings discrepancy:
C. Lenhardt highest ranked player
E. Nation top 300 4*
R. Van Poppel 4*
K. Ives much higher
D. Rogers much lower

Most others about the same. Since most college football fans only hear/see ESPN rankings for recruiting (unlike us losers), probably a good thing they have us ranked where they do.

Btw neon deons Colorado buffalos checked in at 23, w/8 wrs of their 20 non-transfer additions.
