My simple NIL/Portal solution

A lot of this could get fixed if the transfer portal kid that gets NIL money has to give up a percentage of it back to his old school or to an NIL that supports their old school.

That way if Alabama were to take a kid for $2M out of the portal (essentially buying a kid), then the other school that spent the time and resources on the kid would get paid. Maybe an equal amount has to get paid to the other teams collective? This is similar to pro teams that get extra picks when they lose a free agent.

What would happen is
1. The NIL money for portal kids would drastically go down because a team spending $2M on a kid would actually be spending $4M (2 to the kid and 2 to the other teams NIL collective). At some point it’s not affordable. So kids would make half of what they make now. Some of the kids wouldn’t leave for “half”. At some point it’s not worth it to transfer. Their own teams might start paying to keep them OR they just don’t leave.

2. The teams NILs that lose a stud would get compensated and could spend that money to maybe get 4-5 lesser players and mitigate the damages. Does a better job of the rich just getting richer. If a lower division team got $1M from a Texas AM collective, they could probably get a damn good group of new players out of high school or other portal kids for that money.

Huskers should give RB Josh Snyder a look see

Columbine just denied mighty Cherry Creek a 5-peat in the Colorado 5A football championship game 28-14. Josh Snyder rushed for 128 yards and had a 98 yard kickoff return for 226 all purpose yards and 3 touchdowns. Snyder stands 5’11” with a 405 lb squat, 260 lb bench and 4.5 speed. Numbers courtesy the Denver Post. He has offers from Colorado School of Mines and Western Colorado but no D1 schools. Reminds me of another white guy in smaller version 5’8” Danny Woodhead who Nebraska spurned only to excel at Chadron State and in the NFL. Snyder should be considered at least as a preferred walk on.

Houston hires Tulane’s Willie Fritz

Good hire I think but we’ll see. Close to New Orleans which should help as well.

So Tomorrow is December 4 ...

official opening day for the Portal. I wonder what surprises this year's version of player musical chairs will bring. Probably also acceleration for the spinning coaching carousel now that the conferences have all played their championships and the rush will be on to to see who can beat who in hiring the best coach. And early signing day isn't too far off for those coveted HS recruits with some surprise commitment flipping likely (December 20 will be here before we know it).
