Daily Nebraska Trivia/Fact: September 12

“A Nebraska baseball product hit a walk-off HR on this date in two consecutive years at the MLB level, first blasting one bomb in 2014 to topple the Miami Marlins and then slamming a dinger to defeat the Chicago Cubs in 2015.

“Name the player and the team he played for.”

Answer:

Cody Asche, who played for the Philadelphia Phillies from 2013-16 when he hit those two walk-off bombs and also for the Chicago White Sox for 19 games in the majors in 2017.

Asche, a first-team All-Big 12 and second-team All-American honoree in 2011 with the Huskers, is currently an offensive strategy coach with the Baltimore Orioles, where he has been teamed up with another former Husker – pitcher Cade Povich.
