Great football weekend…N takes down an undefeated Rutgers, Iowa gets demolished…

USC goes down to the fighting Flecks, Alabama takes it up the ass from Vanderbilt, & Washington gets there revenge against Michigan. Only thing that could’ve made it better is if Sub-Prime didn’t have a bye week, and got smoked by Kansas State this week, rather than next…..

God I love college football !

Football Matt Rhule live thread ahead of bye week, game time for Indiana set

After six straight weekends of football, Nebraska is enjoying its first of two bye weeks on the schedule. Matt Rhule is expected to hold his weekly Monday press conference today at around noon. This will "likely" be the only media availability with the football program this week.

I'll provide any notable updates in this thread.

What's needed

After watching 6 games so far in my opinion we really need receivers who can get separation from DB's. We have good wr's just not elite and that's what is needed before Nebraska takes the next big step. Yes we have some nice small receivers who can do well on reverses and short patterns but we need those tall wide outs who are elite. Don't get me wrong I'm happy with the progress this team has made I just hope we can get some seriously gifted wr's soon in order to reach our lofty goals of becoming dominate. jmo

Rhule to me seems like the Perfect Blend of Callahan, Solich, and Pelini

If we are talking high end recruiting/organizational aspects/marketing the "N" brand nationally & consistently - that's Cally

scheming defense & overall in game management of clock & turnovers, etc. - Pelini

"Player's Coach" - good dude, S&C, etc. - Solich

Frost ... thankfully NONE of the body language - in fact the total opposite in every facet, great job AD!

2018 - New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees becomes the NFL's all-time passing yardage leader with 71,940 yards, breaking the mark held by Peyton Manning.

The next 6 games

I was going over our remaining games and I was trying to figure out what our record would be in those six. I would be more than happy to go 3-3 and end this year with a regular season record of 8-4.

I know we only need one more win in order to go to a bowl but I would be pretty unhappy with a 6-6 record because that would put us in a pretty lame bowl and that's not good enough. I'm not going to break down each game in terms of win or loss because there will be surprises that could go either way.

Football Brian Buschini named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week

The MVP of Nebraska's win over Rutgers has been honored as such: Brian Buschini is the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week. Fairly rare honor as Buschini is just the second punter to earn the award this season through six weeks. The honor marks Buschini’s first Big Ten Weekly honor and the second of the season for Nebraska, as Dylan Raiola was named Freshman of the Week following NU’s season-opening win against UTEP.

Buschini is the third Husker to earn the Big Ten's Special Teams POTW honor in the last three seasons: Quinton Newsome for his blocked FGA returned for a TD against Purdue in Oct. 2023 and Malcolm Hartzog for his blocked punt returned for a TD against Indiana in 2022.

Buschini, a senior from Helena, Mont., averaged 50.2 yards per punt on five punts, including a pair of 60-yarders in Nebraska’s 14-7 win over Rutgers. Buschini placed two of his punts inside the 20-yard line, including a season-long 69-yard punt that put the Scarlet Knights on their own 11-yard line with 2:17 remaining. It marked his longest punt since the 2022 season. Buschini also completed his first career pass, executing a fake punt for a 30-yard completion to Jaylen Lloyd in the third quarter.

On the season, Buschini is averaging 47.6 yards per punt, including placing eight of his 18 kicks inside the opponent 20-yard line.
