Argument for The Army Black Knights

OK, I know this won’t be well received, but Army should get the 12th spot in the playoffs.

They could easily go toe-to-toe with SMU, Boise State, and Indiana.

Their only loss (weak schedule, mind you) was to Notre Dame.

It ain’t going to happen, but it would be great for the spirit of ol’ college football rather than an 9-3 Alabama team.

Just saying.

Volleyball NCAA VB FINAL: #1 Nebraska def. #5 Dayton, advances to Elite Eight vs. #2 Wisconsin

UPDATE

FINAL
1 Nebraska def. 5 Dayton, 3-1, in Sweet 16 match (25-17, 25-18, 25-27, 25-13)

Harper Murray: 22 kills, 4 aces, 16 digs, 4 blocks
Bergen Reilly: 42 assists, 6 digs, 4 blocks and 1 ace
Rebekah Allick: 10 kills, 4 blocks

The Huskers move past the Flyers (31-3) and into an astounding 34th Elite Eight appearance in the last 43 years. That number is absolutely ludicrous. So is the fact that they will now be gunning to reach their 29th Final Four in that same time span. Banana land.

They will be attempting to do so against the #2 seed in the Lincoln Regional – the Wisconsin Badgers.

Kelly Sheffield’s crew took down #6 seed Texas A&M earlier in the night at Devaney. So…

Getting started now. First match is Missouri v Kentucky in the Pitt Regional.

Kentucky coached by Skinner, an old Nebraska assistant, has beaten Missouri twice 3-0 at home and then 3-1 at Missouri in the last regular season match.

I'd go with Kentucky in 4. Missouri had a nice run, but Kentucky has to many good players.

Skinner coached under Cook at Wisconsin, then coached under Cook at Nebraska before getting the Kentucky HC job, he has won the national title at Kentucky in 2020.

Kentucky has a couple of stars in DeLeye at OH and Grome at S. Missouri is lead by OH Mychael Vernon a 6th year Oregon State transfer.

Well I got removed as coach of my son’s 6th grade team

Coming here for opinions because I haven’t quite figured out if I’m right or wrong.

local Y league. Have coached 9 seasons there of youth basketball (in addition to sellect basketball I coach). Won both championships there last season and am the most requested coach in their league.

I’ve been in the championship game there every season. My older sons team lost the previous 3 seasons to another great coach’s team by ONE point each time in the championship game. Last season the good coach (ex college player) was their assistant due to other coaching obligations and I won in the Championship by ONE point - ironically.

have always had a good relationship with both the head and assistant coaches of that team.

last Saturday we played. They were in first and we were in second place going in. We were down our leading scorer and two other players. Didn’t have subs. Their head coach was out and the assistant was leading them (guy I beat last year).

my son ran the point and they doubled him at half court. They built a 15 point lead at halftime and were up 20 in the third and 30 early in the 4th. we didn’t have the horses or bodies to hang with them and that was fine. Knew we weren’t winning going into it.

In the 4th quarter, up 30, he is imploring his kids to push the pace yelling “outlet outlet!!” He didn’t do that the first time we played. When the refs made a foul call in the 4th where my son got knocked to the ground during another double team he yells “ref! Call it as is happened NOT based on the score!!” I shoot him a look and he looks over at me but I don’t say a word.

after the game I approach him in the hall and ask if we could chat. I said “coach we’ve had some great games over the years and I’ve always had respect for your team. But today I saw some things in the game that might change my opinion of you and I wanted to get your take because maybe I’m
Missing something.”

I explain what I saw and he basically gives me a “you do what you guys do and we do what we do and I only did it because of the respect I have for you and your team”.

then I go “coach you were up 30 points though and running it up against a team with no subs”. He just walks away.

I’m dumbfounded and walk down the hall and say “coach are you just walking away mid discussion or did you want me to follow to talk out here?” He goes “I think we are done here”.

I just had bicep surgery (ruptured bicep from a 360 dunk on hoop the week before) and am in a sling. I look down at the sling and go “You’ve never shown this type of disrespect to me or my teams in the past. If it’s because I’m in this sling and you feel emboldened, just know I’m not disabled. This sling isn’t forever”.

not once did I raise my voice. Didn’t curse at him. The head of the Y program is standing 7-8 feet away during the conversation completely unaware of it.

he goes “are you threatening a pastor?!” I go “I don’t care what you do for a living. I’m a man and I’m old school and just letting you know this sling isn’t permanent”.

he runs over to the girl who runs the program and tells her I’m threatening him.

we go meet in her office. During the meeting he tells her to rip up whatever notes she wrote down. She said she couldn’t and has to report it.

I go in Monday for another meeting and am told I can’t coach my 6th grade team the rest of the season.

my parents are pissed. Four of the Y refs heard about it and came up to me today and said it’s ridiculous and that I’m the one coach that NEVER questions their calls or gets upset. They all said they are in disbelief.

One parent is an attorney for the state and wants to go after the Y. I’ve told them to let it go.

How do I feel about it? Not sure. Part of me is disgusted for doing anything that got it to this point. The other part of me is angry at the other coach for going full beta male when I didn’t touch him. No finger pointing. No raised voice. No “when this heals I’m going to.....”. Angry that he got me out of the league and I won’t be able to finish as coach for my older son (something I’ve done there at the Y for 4 seasons). I’m a youth sports coach in town with a spotless record. I’m just irritated that this beta took my opportunity. But maybe I’m at fault. Ugghh

just want to get your guys thoughts on it all. If anything share a good story.
