Iowa

This is what I though Rhule wanted to do, but he doesn't have the discipline to stick to it. He talks about wanting to be this way but then hires a staff that doesn't have this mindset. We need a coach with a killer instinct who knows how to stick to his plan. The one thing Iowa is good at is they don't try and be something they are not. That's the problem Wisconsin is having right now as well. I don't want to accept being a 8-4 or 7-5 team and want to keep trying until we figure it out, but have no faith in our current administration to make the right choice.
You know, if Jeff sims wasn’t a turn over machine the offense would have been decent. That bozo just gave the ball away. If he could have ran that system clean I think we would have had a nice record last year.

Iowa is playing a dual threat and their offense loooks like a version of osbornes. I’m jealous.

How bad is Raiola injury

You can’t see the receivers down field on tv so you assume they’re not getting any separation.. then haarberg comes in and stands in the pocket like a boss and hits multiple receivers in their hands in clutch time. Something’s up with raiola
On that pick 6 Dylan had Fidone WIDE open 15 yards further down the middle of the field. It would have been a huge gain if not 6 points😕

On another play he had a WR 10 yards behind the defense on the east sideline. He threw a couple of nice balls but he’s holding the ball too long. We had 3 huge plays where he trusted his WRs and launched balls in to tight coverage. Those transfer WRs are good on contested balls.

Rhule must make changes TONIGHT

How about Rhett Lashee the coach of SMU? He has the Mustangs rolling...Rhule ain't gonna do it. His Temple/Baylor run was way over rated and his personel evaluation is bad. He had one big diamond in the rough...Hasan Reddick...so he thinks he can win by coaching up "athletes". That was yesterday. Now you have to win with seasoned players and a very tight system. Also, I wonder if big universities have some type of insurance policy to cover early contract buyouts under certain circumstances.

How bad is Raiola injury

I would be shocked if he isn't here next year. His entire family is now tied to the program. Brother. Sister. Uncle. Short of something crazy happening and Rhule gets fired, I don't see it.

I don't think hes too slow to move around. I think he is confused and unsure of himself, plus is obviously injured. I think this is what pressure does to a person. It's why making a bowl game was so important to show a tiny bit of progress. But Rhule f'd that up. Every DC we play knows Raiola, our receivers, and coaches have no answer for pressure. Only way to stop it is consistent running. Was the opposite last year. We needed those long PA passes to try and slow it down. This year need to grind them out or slip by that pressure for some chunk runs.
The run game is a young QBs best friend and some of the times Satterfield’s run design makes no sense. I’m no O line expert but it was obvious that some of the plays asked a guard to do something Superman couldn’t execute.

The refusal to commit to the run game is maddening. Yeah UCLA has a good D line but that same D line is rushing your passer. Run the damned ball more often and you’ll help your QB.

Tight ends

Since satt has taken over coaching the tight ends their production is down from last year. Just goes to show satt isn’t a good coach
Satterfield does not come across as a very intelligent man when he talks during interviews. I know this isn’t true about every person that talks but I definitely believe it to be true about Satterfield. The man is in over his head!

Iowa

Pretty sure we at least want to be better.

We were at the Peak of all Mountains at one time. The very best of the best. Obviously we all yearn for that once again. I'd rather go 4-8 and try, as opposed to sit back and accept mediocrity.
I like your "try" comment. Watching UCLA control 13 minutes of the clock in the first quarter. Sometimes I wish we could man up and zero blitz them just like they are blitzing us. I get tired of teams scheming our defense and we don't have an answer.

Iowa

Somewhat true.

Bowl games are a blast no matter how good, awful, or great your team is.

We stunk, but the 2005 Alamo Bowl against Michigan was amazing fun because neither fan base gave a shit and just looking to have a good time.
You're not wrong to have high expectations. And your disdain for Iowa is admirable. But from where I'm coming from the 90's are long gone. It seems this team's "corn cob up their ass" approach to competing matches the high expectations mentality of the fan base. Heck, we were debating on here this week of whether the players even wanted to go to a bowl game because it wasn't the playoffs. It was almost as if playing in a December bowl game is beneath them. For the love of God, just play a decent football game in November!

OK. Rant over. Sorry if it doesn't make sense.

I am ready for option B at QB

The first few games Raiola had a beautiful throw and saw the field well. Was everything we hoped. I think part of it may be mental but I think it’s obvious he is dealing with some injuries. His pass is ugly and even when he completes passes it seems there’s a bit of luck involved. I have no doubt he’s our most talented QB but not with whatever injuries he playing through.

Haarberg looks much improved passing, healthy, and adds a run threat. Let the man play and let Raiola heal.

next year

A lot of truth here they seem to have a losing mentality..But man is Satterfield is worst thing hurting this team with his questionable play calling.
Yes Satterfield is certainly a terrible game day coordinator and most likely terrible through out the week. We can all see that.

If not fired all together, he needs to be relieved of play calling and OC. Like I said, we will most likely lose the remaining games and not go bowling. Give someone else an audition at least for next year.
