Special teams may have improved, but they are still below par. That’s one area where I thought we would see much better improvement.Hit. The stupid penalties are mostly gone, special teams are much improved, the players act like they care. This is a team that has over-performed given the players lost to injury and the lack of a QB who can throw an accurate pass and hang on to the ball.
No one is perfect and he’s not. It’s still early days and the merger with the PAC 12 will make the road to championships even tougher, but as a head coach he’s the best we’ve had since Osborne at handling all facets of that job. What's your opinion?
Kick and punt coverage and kicking is way better. Punting is hit or missSpecial teams may have improved, but they are still below par. That’s one area where I thought we would see much better improvement.
In hindsight I would have rather kept Smothers but Sims’ physical talent is tantalizing.Overall good in everything except for the major miss on QB Sims. Selecting Sims is on Rhule.
100% agree.Overall good in everything except for the major miss on QB Sims. Selecting Sims is on Rhule.
Yes, but it’s the Big West so that’s like being the tallest midget. I think we’ll win the west 1 maybe 2 times per decade. Maybe the BIG every 25 years or so. Too hard to recruit. Rhule’s class is going to be the lowest of the last 4 coaches.l in his first full year. Not a good sign.We got a long ways to go but early signs are Rhule can get us back to winning 9 games a year.
I guarantee you if we don’t win the west division of Big Ten we never will again!!Yes, but it’s the Big West so that’s like being the tallest midget. I don’t believe he would have taken our job.Still wish we would have hired Gundy. I know I was roasted for this opinion when okie state was upset, but don’t look now.. they just beat a top 10 team and will probably be ranked in the top 15.
Defense looks great, but it’s against the B1G west so I somewhat take with a grain of salt
I have to believe that every QB in college football knows there’s a help wanted sign hanging in Rhule’s window. I can’t imagine not at least trying to land a transfer QB. There has to be a guy languishing behind a returning starter who wants a fresh start.I think he’s done a good job coaching this team. He has changed the mindset and installed toughness. Which is very important.
What he has to do now, to take the next step, is get more talent. He has shown he can identify talent, and put players in positions to be successful, just look at all the freshman making contributions from a class thrown together in a couple of weeks.
But he’s never coached CFB in the transfer portal era. Can he be better at that than everyone else, like he was at identifying and developing in the pre portal era of CFB? Is there going to be a learning curve?
Punt returns still suck. And punting is not what it should be.Kick and punt coverage and kicking is way better. Punting is hit or miss
You don’t like the strategy of trotting an injured guy out there to catch punts at the 5?Punt returns still suck. And punting is not what it should be.
Yes I expect a learning curve but just listening to Rhule you understand he's smart and can adapt quickly.I think he’s done a good job coaching this team. He has changed the mindset and installed toughness. Which is very important.

That shit has got to stop yesterday. You don’t like the strategy of trotting an injured guy out there to catch punts at the 5?
Exactly what do you not like about his offense? It appears he is running the ball more than he did at SC. He is obviously changing his O based on his available personnel. So what don't you like?Overall, you’d have to say a hit. Offense stinks and that could be that the QBs are terrible, Satt is mediocre, the OL is terrible, or a combination. But, he went with HH after Sims played terrible so that’s good.
Offense really needs changes.
The defense is playing a lot of guys, which I think is a huge help for next year.
All in all, I like Rhule but he needs to make some changes and get new QBs in if he wants to win anything here.
I am on record, I don’t like Satts offense. Some say it is due to QB play but we shall see.
The results for one. That said, he can only get guys into position with the knowledge on how to be successful. Before all the injuries this team had a cap of 7-5. If the team gets to 7-5 with how things have gone, the floor has been set for sureExactly what do you not like about his offense? It appears he is running the ball more than he did at SC. I will say Satt could have done some things with Casey and Palmer last season.Exactly what do you not like about his offense? It appears he is running the ball more than he did at SC. He is obviously changing his O based on his available personnel. So what don't you like?
Buschemi had a rough go of it yesterday. It hurt quite a bit in a nip and tuck game that was yesterday’s contest. You don’t like the strategy of trotting an injured guy out there to catch punts at the 5?
Kick returns, tooPunt returns still suck. And punting is not what it should be.
I was immediately critical of Satt for passing 3 times early in the 4th the next series after a long drive running the ball which resulted in a FG (I think, could have been a TD) against Minnesota. But two of the three plays had a receiver WIDE OPEN that Sims didn't see one and threw a bad pass to the other. I really watch how he calls the games and there are SO MANY plays that are a bad pass or one bad block from being winners. Case in point - yesterday we had a receiver wide open on around the 12 heading for the EZ, but HH threw six feet wide for an interception. In the Purdue game Satt called a jet sweep that was set up perfectly to the left with two pulling linemen in front and having cleared that side of the defense with motion. The Purdue DE was way wide of the LOS, but coming back and a half-assed block by the TE caused the DE to blow up a 40 yard play for only a yard. I just can't blame Satterfield for these gaffs.Exactly what do you not like about his offense? It appears he is running the ball more than he did at SC. OL can't be that bad is we lead the B1G in rushing offense.Overall, you’d have to say a hit. Offense stinks and that could be that the QBs are terrible, Satt is mediocre, the OL is terrible, or a combination. But, he went with HH after Sims played terrible so that’s good.

The “program” can’t pay players NIL money. Has to be donors to outside organizations or directly to the player. What the football program profits has no bearing on NIL.dog fight rest of the way.
high time to become a generous nil program. we are a very rich college program and the boys deserve a piece of that pie. they built it. looks to be a cheap poorly run proposition at the moment.
take a little tiny step away and try and view the big picture. just because the total husker money pool is divided up in 2023 as it has been in the past does not mean some of it can't be redirected. other "blue bloods" seemed to have either figured it out or are in the process. might take some thinking outside the box or maybe changing the names of those in charge. The “program” can’t pay players NIL money. The guy should get two full seasons to truly be graded. He handles the team as good as I could hope for and I like his no nonsense style. He and the team has had many transistions and obstacles to overcome in his first season. We could easily be a two loss team and he would look like a God. I think we have the right mature, seasoned, and mentally strong guy for the task at hand. He is a builder and boy did we need a remodel.
I completely agree with this, Sims is the one main negative for Rhule. He basically told Casey that he would be playing catch up and gave Sims the keys..A QB as smart as Thompson was playing catch up should be a after thought, he took a gamble and it didn't work.In hindsight I would have rather kept Smothers but Sims’ physical talent is tantalizing.
